Chapter Eight: Flying Daggers

Chapter 8 Ambush from all sides

The King of Shu looked puzzled: "I didn't expect that the Queen actually knew the story of Farewell My Concubine."

Nuan Si was startled, couldn't he know? Everyone knows the stories recorded in history. What's so strange about this? Suddenly, I thought about it again, and it felt wrong, because this was an imaginary era. Where could the Overlord of Chu come from? Where could Yu Ji come from?

?

"Then I dare to ask how the King of Shu knew this allusion?" Nuan Si always likes to take the initiative.

The King of Shu put away his jade flute and sighed: "It's an old friend telling me."

Hearing the ambiguity in what he said, Nuan Si also said bluntly: "I have read it in a book in my hometown."

The King of Shu was stunned. He didn't expect the Queen to say such a thing, so he said: "Then the Queen must have been moved by the story of King Chu Bawang and Yu Ji, and she must have been feeling sorry for them."

The song "House of Flying Daggers" tells the story of Farewell My Concubine. Before 202 BC, the conflict between Chu and Han was coming to an end. The two sides fought in Gaixia (south of Lingbi, Anhui today). Three hundred thousand Han troops surrounded one hundred thousand Chu.

In order to undermine the morale of the other side's troops, the Han side asked the soldiers to sing Chu songs. Most of the Chu soldiers had been away from home for a long time and were tired of years of fighting. Some people in the Chu army began to sing, and the morale of the troops was completely shaken. Seeing that the situation was over, Xiang Yu had nothing to do.

, sang to Yu Ji, "Strengthening the mountains, the world is overwhelming, the times are not good, but the time is not gone. What can be done if the time is not gone? What can I do if the time is not going away? What can I do if I am worried?" Yu Ji then said in peace: "The Han soldiers have captured the territory, and they are besieged on all sides.

, The king is exhausted, how can a lowly concubine live?" After singing, he drew his sword and committed suicide. Xiang Yu later fled to the Wujiang River, faced the surging river, looked up to the sky and sighed: "I am killed here, and it is not a crime of war.

"So he drew his sword and committed suicide.

Later generations composed two famous pipa martial arts suites based on this episode of the Battle of Gaixia, "Ambush from Flying Daggers" and "The Overlord Disarms".

Now what the King of Shu was playing was "Ambush from Flying Daggers", and Nuan Si also heard the artistic conception in the sound of his flute. He was experiencing the scene of life and death with Xiang Yu's state of mind.

Nuan Si couldn't understand why the King of Shu, whose heart was as calm as water, would play such shocking and even chaotic music...

Seeing the worried look on the King of Shu's face, Nuan Si knew that this might not be just a story to him, but considering the matter, Nuan Si had his own opinions on the story of Farewell My Concubine: "Although I have also

I feel sorry for King Chu Bawang and Yu Ji, but in fact, what I hate most is King Chu Bawang’s cowardly character.”

"The Overlord of Chu is cowardly?" The King of Shu looked at the little queen in front of him in disbelief. If she hadn't looked so serious, the King of Shu might have thought she was joking?

Seeing his appearance, Nuan Si ignored him and continued: "In fact, victory or defeat is a common thing for military strategists. Failure is not terrible. What is terrible is that you don't have the courage to stand up. Back then, Xiang Yu said that he had no face to see the Jiangdong elders and swung his sword to kill himself.

Although his loyalty is commendable, he is also extremely stupid. Why doesn't he want to keep the green hills and not be afraid of running out of firewood? He is the hope of Jiangdong's elders. If he is alive, then everyone's faith is still there. If he is dead, why

I feel sorry for Jiang Dong's father. I can only say that he did not try his best and chose to escape and die to escape when faced with pressure."

The King of Shu was dumbfounded by what he said. If he hadn't heard it with his own ears, Qingze would not have believed that these awe-inspiring words came from a seventeen-year-old woman.
