58. Too busy to take care of yourself and worrying about a beast
The little fox in her arms seemed to sense what she was thinking. He suddenly raised his head and blinked twice with a pair of watery blue eyes. Tears flowed out of his eyes and wet the soft silver fur under his eyes.
Feng Linxue's heart seemed to be stabbed by something. She reached out and stroked the little fox's head, her eyes full of apology, and whispered, "I'm sorry, little fox, I can't protect you anymore."
Hearing her low murmur, Yun Xia and Yun Wu secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
The two have been in the world for many years, and their hands have long been stained with blood. No one knows how many lives were lost at the hands of their sisters.
It's just that Feng Linxue has no grievances against them and has not done anything detrimental to His Highness. It's still a bit unbearable to throw her out of the cave and become food for the wolves.
The little fox nestled obediently in her arms, looking at her with watery eyes, motionless, waiting obediently and docilely for her to decide its fate.
Feng Linxue closed her eyes, made up her mind, and walked toward the cave entrance with the little fox in her arms.
The wolves noticed her movements, grinning and barking, and their sharp claws excitedly dug several deep scratches on the ground.
"Little Miss, don't come too close." Caicai swallowed nervously. Even though she was five or six meters away, her legs were still weak from fear.
Feng Linxue stood one meter away from the wolves, took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and reached out to throw the little fox out.
"Zhizhizhi."
The little fox let out a cry-like whimper.
Feng Linxue didn't dare to open her eyes for fear of seeing a bloody scene.
She couldn't tell how guilty she felt in her heart. Even with her eyes closed, the little fox's pleading eyes and tearful blue eyes kept appearing in her mind.
The wolves quickly retreated.
Caicai came over and gently tugged on her sleeves, "Miss, His Highness Rong Chu is indeed right. Those wild wolves just wanted the little fox and have now retreated."
Feng Linxue slowly opened her eyes.
As expected, not even a single wild wolf could be seen at the entrance of the cave that was surrounded by wolves.
Thinking of the little fox, Feng Linxue felt a little uncomfortable.
"Miss, you don't have to be sad. I just saw the little fox running very fast and was not caught by the wolf. Foxes are very cunning. I think the little fox will not be easily caught by wild wolves."
Feng Linxue was stunned for a moment, then a look of joy appeared on her face, "Wasn't the little fox caught by a wild wolf?"
"Well, I saw it running away from the wolves with my own eyes."
Feng Linxue finally felt better.
"You have too much time to take care of yourself, and you are still worrying about a beast." A cold and mocking voice came from behind her.
Feng Linxue felt itching with hatred when she thought that Rong Chu almost threw her and Cai Cai out of the cave.
Maybe she was really wrong.
She shouldn't associate with the devil.
Because they were afraid that the wild wolf would not appear again, except for Rong Chu, the other four people discussed taking turns to keep vigil for two hours each.
Feng Linxue's vigil was scheduled for the second half of the night.
After a day's journey, her whole body was sore and aching, and she was exhausted. She wrapped herself in a quilt and leaned against the cave wall, and soon fell asleep.
In her sleep, she stood in a vast expanse of snow, surrounded by white mist, making it difficult to see the direction.
"Sister, sister."
Suddenly, a ball of silver-white fox rolled to her feet.
She looked down, with a surprised expression on her face.
Isn't this the little silver fox she threw to the wolves?
