11. Apprenticeship

Even the adults couldn't bear to see the children crying like this.

Tiezhu's father carried Ruyi to the doctor's house.

Even local doctors can cure typhoid fever. Whenever they see such symptoms, they shake their heads and say, "Just bury it. It looks like it won't work."

"I don't believe it!" Tie Zhu said stubbornly.

Tie Zhu kept breathing into Ruyi's cold little hands. He rubbed Ruyi's hands, and hot tears fell on Ruyi's face.

"Well..." Ruyi, who had lost her breath, suddenly said something and woke up with a bang. She glanced at Tiezhu, uttered the word "monster" and fainted again.

At least she came back to life. Her body temperature gradually increased and she began to breathe again.

"It's amazing!" said the local doctor. "I have never seen a dead person come back to life. This girl is really not simple."

Tie Zhu then slowly felt relieved.

He stared at Ruyi's face and felt something was wrong.

Looking carefully, I found that there was a cinnabar-like thing between Ruyi's eyebrows.

He stretched out his hand and wiped it, and found that it was not stained, but grown.

It's strange, Tie Zhu thought to himself, growing up with Ruyi, he had never seen a mole between her eyebrows.

Ruyi lay on the kang for three days and three nights before she woke up. As soon as she woke up, she shouted for her mother.

People in the village told her that her mother had been buried.

Ruyi has had no father since she was born, and now she doesn't even have a mother. How can a six-year-old girl live on her own?

Someone in the village wanted to adopt Ruyi, but Ruyi refused.

Ruyi cried all night in front of Widow Zhang's grave, until her eyes almost bled.

When the sky turned white, Ruyi swore in front of the grave: "Mom, don't worry. I will follow the Taoist priest and worship him as my teacher. When the time comes, I will kill all the evildoers in the world and avenge my mother."

She knelt down, kowtowed three times, went home, packed some soft clothes, and walked to the street where Taoist priests often went.

After Widow Zhang died, Ruyi seemed to have suddenly grown up overnight. No matter how poor or miserable she was in the past, with her mother's care, she could at least be a happy child without worrying about her livelihood. But it's different now.

Now she has no relatives in the world. If she wants to continue living, she can only rely on herself.

It just so happened that the Taoist priest heard about what happened at Ruyi's house, but he didn't expect that what the widow had provoked was really a monster.

The Taoist priest felt that he was also responsible and wanted to escape to other villages.

He was walking in a hurry and suddenly bumped into Ruyi who was looking for him.

"Hey, you kid, why don't you look at the road?" the Taoist priest complained. When he lowered his head and saw Ruyi, he thought that the road was really narrow, so he turned around and left.

Ruyi immediately hugged the Taoist priest's thigh and cried: "Accept me! Accept me as a disciple! My mother is dead, and I am the only one left! Please, take me away!"

The Taoist priest was so upset by Ruyi that he couldn't get rid of her, and he couldn't bear to hit her. He said angrily: "Why should I take you away? What can you do with this little girl! I can't even eat!"

Ruyi cried: "I will be your maid, I will rub your legs! I will wash your clothes...you...you accept me as your apprentice, and I will do whatever you ask me to do!"

The Taoist priest rolled his eyes twice and said, "Okay then, I will reluctantly agree to it. Just do whatever I ask you to do, and no complaints are allowed!"

Ruyi nodded like a fool: "Listen to Master in everything."
