49. There is no roselle in the County Chronicle

"This little girl only knows how to dye cloth, but knows nothing about singing, dancing or musical instruments. I'm afraid she will disappoint the county magistrate." Bai Haitang replied.

"If you want to see singing and dancing, and listen to silk and bamboo playing, I'll just go to Huafang Brothel. What I want to see is something special, interesting, and novel," said the county magistrate.

"You know, every day in court, listening to boring things and reading boring official documents, my head is going to be rusty. If you come up with interesting ideas, I will let you read the county records at any time. If not,

Then turn around and walk out..." The county magistrate said unceremoniously.

Bai Haitang thought for a moment and asked, "Master, what do you use to write?"

"Wolf hair."

Wolf-hair pens are used in modern times. Are there really so many of them that would make you pluck your hair out stupidly?

"Would it be a good idea if I could use other things to write decent characters?" Bai Haitang asked.

"Fingers don't count." The county magistrate looked at it and said, "Hair doesn't count either."

The county magistrate ordered the boy to take the paper and the inkstone and put them on the stone table to start grinding the ink.

Bai Haitang took out his quill pen from his pocket, dipped it in black ink and wrote the word rosella on the paper. The goose feathers were flying above the pen holder, which was particularly beautiful.

Unknowingly, these three words came to my mind.

The pen was not made of hair. This whetted the appetite of the county magistrate. He took Bai Haitang's pen and looked at it over and over.

"Explain it."

"This is a goose quill pen. Take a goose feather of suitable thickness and use a knife to cut out a slightly concave bevel. Leave a few millimeters in the front part for the pen tip. Split it slightly in the middle and leave it as the tip. This way you can write.

." Bai Haitang explained.

The county magistrate tried it, but he always couldn't do it with my strength, and the handwriting he produced was not as beautiful as Bai Haitang's, but the elasticity of the quill impressed him the most.

"If the county magistrate feels that it is not enough, there is also this, which can also be used for writing. This is a carbon core extracted from wood through burning, and pressed into a slender cylindrical shape, which is suitable for carrying and writing." After Bai Haitang finished speaking, he took out the carbon pen.

I also wrote the words rosella on the paper.

Although it is not as clear as a quill pen, it is very fast.

"This seems to be more suitable for painting..." The county magistrate discovered the beauty of it.

"By the way, what else is in that little bag of yours?" The county magistrate stared at the cross-body bag on Bai Haitang, like a treasure chest.

"There is also a big cake to satisfy your hunger." Bai Haitang took it out.

"It's better to put this back," the county magistrate said with a smile.

"I'll accept these two pens and take you to read the county annals." The county magistrate said with great interest, playing with these two interesting pens all the way.

Follow the county magistrate to the main hall.

The four-character plaque with the words "Mingjing hangs high" hangs high, exuding unparalleled majesty.

Opening the locked door to the side room, there were various books neatly placed inside. One of the exquisite wooden boxes had the words "County Chronicle" written on the outside.

The county magistrate opened the box with the key and took out the county chronicles inside, three thick volumes.

It clearly and accurately describes how many villages, streams and mountains there are in the county, how many people there are in each village, what each household does, the flow direction of each stream, its geographical location, and the stones and freshwater organisms that are abundant in the streams.

The height of each mountain and river, the area occupied, and the number of animals and plants on the mountain are clearly written.

The important thing is that there are pictures and detailed instructions.
