56. What happened to the grandmother's family

Grandma didn't say much, and Bai Haitang didn't continue to ask. Every family has sutras that are difficult to recite, and she understood.

"Miss Haitang, why did you come back to Shuilian Mountain alone?" Grandma asked during dinner.

The dinner was very simple, consisting of coarse grains, light rice, dilute tea and fresh water, just like Bai Begonia's husband's family before he dyed cloth. They were all the food eaten by the poor. There were also pickled wild vegetables in the rice.

It was also while eating that Bai Haitang suddenly understood the hard-to-recite scripture of her grandmother's family.

It turned out that grandma’s son had half of his face missing!

The eyes, cheeks, nose, and mouth on that half of the face were gone. Except for the eyebrows, there was just a pile of flesh that had not healed recently and was uneven.

At first glance, Bai Haitang was really shocked. She tried her best not to appear offended, but she still didn't recover for a long time. Her son kept his head down as much as possible after finishing the meal and then went to the yard to chop firewood. He was still a filial child.

"I wanted to find a plant in the mountains. This is the reason why I came here." Bai Haitang told her grandma truthfully.

"In the mountains? You don't mean Shuilian Mountain, right?" Grandma asked worriedly.

"It's Shuilian Mountain. It's only found in Shuilian Mountain, and it's very important." Bai Haitang said.

"Hey, girl, go back before you make a big mistake." Grandma sighed, and that sad look appeared again.

"Have you seen my son?" Grandma pointed to her son who was chopping firewood in the yard. "A few months ago he went to the mountains to chop wood. When he walked a little further, he unexpectedly encountered a blind bear who jumped him.

He fell to the ground, licked his face, and half of his face was gone. Fortunately, someone came to his rescue and scared the blind man away, which saved half his life..." Grandma shed tears as she spoke.

Already.

When her son suffers, her mother's heart-wrenching pain cannot be replaced by hatred. Now that she is a mother, Bai Haitang deeply understands this.

Black bears have prickly tongues, which are used for chewing food. Bai Haitang knows this, so she took one lick and half of her face was gone. She was lucky not to get infected or inflamed.

Bai Haitang's heart felt cold after hearing this.

This kind-hearted mother and son, relying on the mountains and the mountains, encountered such a natural disaster.

"The child's father was originally a hunter and made a living by hunting. He went to the mountains three years ago and never came back. He couldn't even find his body... He was probably picked up by jackals, tigers and leopards, and not even the bones were left.

." Grandma's sad tears flowed down her deep cheeks, and the lines there were tear lines formed by years of shedding tears.

"Girl, do you think I can let you go to the mountains as a girl? As far away as possible. If we, mother and son, were not helpless and had no way to make a living, we would have left here long ago." Grandma let out a long sigh, feeling deeply trapped.

His eye sockets are recalling the sad past again.

Bai Haitang didn't know what to say to comfort her grandma. This was not a story, it was right in front of her. Her biggest feeling was shock. The danger deep in Shuilian Mountain was more severe than she expected.

She wanted to say, grandma, everything will be fine. But these words were feeble at the moment. She couldn't say them out.

After sleeping one night at her grandmother's house, Bai Haitang couldn't tell what kind of wild beast it was except for the sound of the wind and the low roar coming from the mountains.

Definitely not a kind person.

Roselle, where are you?

The county annals only say that it exists in Shuilian Mountain, without specifying the specifics. However, Shuilian Mountain is too big and too high. I'm afraid I can only find it by searching the whole mountain.
