102, first meeting my father's second wife

He pressed the doorbell, stood by the door and said sideways to her: "Why are you so timid? What else do you have to be afraid of when I'm here?"

She leaned on his shoulder and said softly: "I have never met my parents. I won't be able to speak later and you have to help me."

Before Qiao Ye could answer, the door had been opened, and an uncle wearing glasses smiled sideways and welcomed the two of them in, "Master, Madam."

Xie Yunshu hurriedly left Qiao Ye and said hello to him: "Good morning, uncle." Uncle Chen also nodded to her in return.

Qiao Ye handed him the car keys and asked, "Is Dad upstairs?"

Uncle Chen took the key and replied: "Yes, you two go upstairs first, breakfast is already being prepared."

Uncle Chen said this, which made Qiao Ye embarrassed. The fact that he got up late with her was exposed.

Xie Yunshu also immediately understood the meaning of Qiao Ye's strange expression, and took him and fled upstairs.

Qiao Ye took her up the winding staircase on the side of the hall to the second floor. The center of the second floor was also the living room. The windows and curtains at both ends were wide open, making the room bright and fresh. A middle-aged man with slightly white hair was sitting on an old tree.

In front of the tea table that was made into a tea table, Xingmu Jianmei was as handsome as Qiao Ye, and he also had a calm and serious domineering look. He looked like he was in his fifties. He calmly looked at the water vapor curling from the tea cup in front of him.

The fragrance floated faintly towards the two of them.

Qiao Ye approached Qiao Liancheng with her and called, "Dad, I'm bringing Yun Shu to see you."

Xie Yunshu hurriedly followed, "Dad." After that, he continued to stick to Qiao Ye, not daring to speak.

Qiao Liancheng put down the saucer in his hand, looked up at Xie Yunshu beside Qiao Ye, observed for a moment and said calmly: "Sit down and have a cup of tea." Qiao Ye then pulled her to sit down at the tea table.

Qiao Liancheng had already had a drink and started to wash his cup and drink more. While boiling the water, he asked Qiao Ye: "How is the company lately?"

Qiao Ye said truthfully: "It's all good."

Qiao Liancheng carefully rinsed the cup and purple sand toad with tea, and asked Xie Yunshu, "What about you, what are you busy with?"

Xie Yunshu was stunned. He was not busy with anything at all. He had nothing to do at home. He replied awkwardly in his heart: "Dad, I am not busy with anything. I just stay at home."

Qiao Liancheng raised his eyes to observe her. After listening to her answer, his eyes returned to the tea towel in his hand. "Well, it will be good to be a husband and raise children in the future."

Seemingly he asked casually: "Have you ever picked oranges before?" The orange grove in the manor was mature and well-cultivated, and the trees were full of fruits.

She said respectfully: "No, I grew up in the city." After saying that, she bit her lower lip, feeling helpless. She never expected that her father-in-law would ask her such a question, so she was unprepared.

Qiao Liancheng stared at the rolling boiling water and said, "Then follow me and give it a try today, what do you think?"

Xie Yunshu imagined the scene of oranges hanging on the branches, and asked: "Can you peel it and eat it after you pick it?" As soon as she said this, Qiao Ye, who was sitting aside, sweated on his forehead. This wife is really not an ordinary person.

Qiao Liancheng paused and replied: "Yes, they are all cooked."

Of course she was happy to hear that she could eat fresh fruit and said, "It sounds great, of course I will go." She turned to Qiao Ye and said, "Qiao Ye, are you going?"

Qiao Ye watched his father add green tea and jasmine flowers to the boiling water, knowing that his father had a good impression of her, even though she was not very good at speaking.

He smiled and replied: "Of course you go, otherwise you will eat them all."

She retorted in a low voice, dissatisfied: "I definitely can't eat much, don't accuse me wrongly." Then she turned to Qiao Liancheng and asked, "Dad, are there many orange trees?"

"Not many, dozens of trees."

She silently calculated in her mind, and then said: "There are dozens of trees. Even if we pick one in fifteen minutes, it will still take a long time, but today we should be able to pick them all in one day."

Qiao Liancheng: "..."

Qiao Ye corrected awkwardly: "Yunshu, you don't have to wait to eat, so you don't have to finish picking it."

Only then did she realize that Qiao Liancheng was just managing the farm for fun. He was just picking as much as he wanted. Sweat broke out on his forehead: "Oh, I didn't react. I'm sorry."

As they spoke, the fragrance of jasmine tea spread. Qiao Liancheng poured a cup for each of them and said, "Try it, I'll ask Secretary Chen to bring snacks." After saying that, he got up and walked downstairs.

After hearing his father's footsteps going down the stairs, Qiao Ye reluctantly put down his cup and said to her: "Wife, can you stop being so stupid?"

She looked back at him with bulging cheeks and struggled: "I said it smoothly, and it's not too wrong."

He pretended to sigh and said, "My dad will definitely feel sorry for me when he sees me marrying such a poor wife."

Xie Yunshu looked at him with a black line and glared at him sideways, "Qiao Ye, you are bullying me."

He stroked her swollen cheek and said with a smile: "I'm just kidding you, he usually doesn't make scented tea. It must be because of you."

Xie Yunshu held the cup with both hands and took a sip of the hot tea. He felt the fragrance in his teeth and cheeks, and the fresh fragrance spread in his throat. He praised it: "It tastes good! Do you mean that my first impression passed the test?"

"You can say that."

She smiled, drank the tea in one gulp, and said, "Wow, I'm so happy."

Hearing footsteps, I turned around and saw an aunt in an apron carrying a tray upstairs. Inside the tray were two exquisite snacks, one white and one green, both decorated with sesame seeds, which looked very pleasing to the eye.

Qiao Ye was not hungry. Looking at these two snacks that he was accustomed to eating, he said to her: "You must be hungry. Wash your hands before eating."

She was about to reach out and take it, but was forced back by his words, saying: "Where are you washing your hands?"

Qiao Ye pointed to the northeast corner of the living room, "You can see that corridor when you enter it."

She stood up and walked to the corner, stopped and turned around and asked, "Hubby, don't you want to eat something?"

"I do not want to eat."

"Oh, okay then." She turned around and entered the corridor, wondering why he wasn't hungry. Did he eat by himself first?

The exterior of this house was simple, but the interior decoration was exquisite and grand. It looked like a lot of money had been invested in it. There were oil paintings on the walls that she couldn't understand, and there were ever-lasting floor lamps and Turkish carpets under her feet.

She hurriedly washed her hands in the bathroom and returned to the living room.

Qiao Ye was still sitting at the tea table, adding tea to his small tea cup. When he saw her coming back, he said, "Try it, it's the snack I always had when I was a kid."

She first picked up a green one and put it to her mouth, bit off half of it, chewed it carefully and said, "It's made of mung beans and sweet-scented osmanthus. It tastes so fragrant."

Qiao Ye smiled and said, "I'm sorry you can still taste it. Try the white one again."

She picked up the white one and put it in her mouth, sighing: "This should be made of lotus seeds and barley."

Qiao Ye nodded in appreciation, "Well, your reputation as a foodie is indeed true."

While chewing, she glared at him and retorted: "That's enough for you, they obviously taste good."

"How's it going? Do you like it?" He raised his arms to hug her to his side and looked up at her eating happily.
