Chapter 28 - Memory Fragments - Mu Qing's Past

Star City Academy.

At night, the moon and stars are scarce.

By the lake in front of the dormitory building, Mu Qing sat on her knees under the willow tree, touching the harmonica with her lips and playing quietly.

The breeze blew across my cheeks, blowing up a few strands of black hair.

While playing, Mu Qing's pupils turned into vertical pupils, and the rune crystals embedded in her arms shone with light.

Taking a deep breath, she tried to suppress the restlessness in her heart, but scenes of the past could not be suppressed in her mind, making it increasingly difficult for her to control herself.

Her eyes gradually turned scarlet, and two small tiger teeth appeared from the corners of her mouth.

Holding back the throbbing in her heart, Mu Qing showed a painful expression on her face, and her body curled up and began to tremble.

She was once again on the verge of losing control.

At this moment, Feng Qi, who had arrived as promised, appeared not far away.

Realizing that something seemed amiss with Mu Qing, he immediately took a few steps forward and came to her side:

"Senior, what's wrong with you?"

As he spoke, he put his hand on Mu Qing's shoulder, and in an instant, a strong suction force came from Mu Qing's body.

Due to Mu Qing's extreme mental disorder, the "nightmare" ability he had just acquired was automatically triggered at this moment, and many broken memory scenes appeared in his mind.

A little girl appeared on the screen. It could be seen that this little girl, about seven or eight years old, was Mu Qing. At this time, she was lying in front of a wooden bed, crying uncontrollably.

Lying on the wooden bed was a bloated and black man. He reached out and grabbed the little girl's hand, and said with difficulty:

"Don't blame us, we have nothing to do. You will have to go alone in the future. I'm sorry, I have to go find my mother first... You must learn to take care of yourself, and you must live strong."

Looking at the girl who was still crying, the man began to cough violently, and black blood spilled from the corner of his mouth. Then he picked up the harmonica next to him with difficulty and handed it to the little girl:

"This is the only thing your parents can leave to you..."

"Mumu, don't be afraid, you will have the strength to stand up when you are full."

The pictures in my mind flickered and jumped at this moment.

When the picture became clear again, the little girl stood timidly in the lobby of the Star City Civil Affairs Bureau, holding several documents, waiting silently.

"No. 024, handle business at window 3!" The electronic announcement echoed through the lobby of the Civil Affairs Bureau.

When the little girl heard this, she immediately trotted to the window, climbed up to the seat with some difficulty and sat down.

The staff at the window looked very surprised when they saw that it was a little girl who came to handle things:

"Kid, what can I do for you?"

"I'll apply for the orphan certificate." The little girl pursed her lips and said.

Looking at the surprise on the staff's faces, the little girl took out the death certificates of her father, mother, grandpa, grandma, grandpa and grandma in turn, and then said:

"I just went to apply for my father's death certificate. Now I have no relatives and need to be sent to an orphanage, so I came to apply for my own orphan certificate."

The picture in his mind stunned Feng Qi.

She couldn't imagine how Mu Qing could endure this gloomy moment.

He also suddenly felt very sorry for this strong girl.

"After applying for the orphan certificate, I am considered an adult and can take care of myself." At this time, the little girl timidly looked at the staff in the window and asked.

After hearing this, Feng Qi felt mixed emotions in his heart.

The resources in Star City are relatively sufficient, but they are also limited. When a child loses all his relatives and has no cash savings, he will lose his educational opportunities and be sent to an orphanage to be raised by the state.

After reaching the age of thirteen, one needs to be self-reliant, and the final solution is generally to become a lower-class resident of Star City and engage in the hardest and most tiring jobs.

The reason why he was able to receive an education was because his parents left him an inheritance and he did not have to work for a living.

But orphans who have no cash savings are completely different. After applying for an orphan certificate, they can see everything in this life at a glance.

Facing Xiao Muqing's inquiry, the staff member opened her mouth, squeezed out a smile on her face and comforted:

"Well, once you apply for the orphan certificate, you will be an adult."

The picture in his mind flickered and jumped again. The scene changed. A tall woman in black uniform appeared next to Xiao Muqing. She bent down and whispered in Mu Qing's ear:

"Their blood is flowing in your body, and that is the result of our experiment, so you have to go back with me to continue the follow-up experiments."

As she spoke, she took Mu Qing's little hand and walked away step by step.

At that moment, Feng Qi could feel Mu Qing's inner resistance and struggle.

The scene suddenly stopped at this moment, and then he felt a pain in his chest. His body flew back several meters and fell heavily to the ground.

After coming back to his senses, Feng Qi quickly stood up and managed to avoid Mu Qing's heavy punch.

"Boom!" A crater was made in the ground.

"Senior!" he shouted quickly.

Hearing Feng Qi's cry, a look of struggle appeared on Mu Qing's face. After standing there for a moment, she took a deep breath and the scarlet light in her pupils slowly dissipated.

"I'm sorry." Mu Qing, who had recovered, seemed a little overwhelmed and didn't even dare to look at him.

During her days at the academy, Feng Qi was the only student who wanted to be friends with her.

But she knew that Feng Qi would soon be like the other students in the academy, only avoiding her or even discriminating against her.

"I'm fine. Next, you should teach me how to play the harmonica." Feng Qi grinned and said without caring.

Hearing these words, Mu Qing raised her head in disbelief:

"You...are you not afraid that I will lose control again?"

Glancing at the pits on the ground, he forced himself to show off and said:

"Don't be afraid, do I look so weak? This punch is okay, it doesn't hurt very much."

Mu Qing:......

Looking at Mu Qing with a complicated expression, he immediately smiled and said:

"Senior sister, you don't seem to be in a good state today. Go back and have a good rest and teach me how to learn the harmonica. I'll make an appointment next time. By the way, remember to have breakfast together tomorrow." Feng Qi grinned.

Mu Qing heard this, opened her mouth, and finally nodded with a complicated expression:

"good."

After Mu Qing walked away, Feng Qi rubbed his chest and made a "hissing" sound, his expression finally lost its tension.

The power of Mu Qing's punch was comparable to that of a prehistoric beast. It hit his chest and almost knocked his soul out of his body.

If his body hadn't been strengthened several times in the future dream and he had received this punch, he would have been destined to lie in the emergency room now.

Opening his clothes, he found that his chest was indeed bruised.

But the miraculous thing is that these bruises are fading at a speed visible to the naked eye.

He was not surprised by this, because his prefix title in the dream had changed from "weak" to "strong", and one of the abilities given by strong was to speed up the body's self-healing ability.

After staying there for a moment, he turned around and walked towards the dormitory building.

Recalling the scenes he saw in Mu Qing's broken memories, a fierce light appeared in his eyes.

Now he really wants to know who the woman in black is.

Mu Qing became a rune-modified person, perhaps because the woman in black was used as an experiment.

He even felt that the death of Mu Qing's parents might have been caused by some kind of evil human experiment.

He felt as if he was one step closer to the truth.

Behind all of this may be inextricably linked to the "Scarlet Research Institute".
