Chapter 51 The Red Chamber Codex

The book that Han Kongque picked up only recorded some common breathing and breathing techniques. From Han Kongque's perspective, although these recorded techniques were simple, they were not useless.

However, modern people simply do not have the perseverance to practice the above meditation and breathing methods, so no one can cultivate inner Qi. Of course, the main reason is that no one thinks that these can cultivate inner Qi.

Without belief in qigong, sincerity, and perseverance, it is naturally impossible to cultivate inner qi.

Han Peacock has collected a lot of such books over the years. Each book costs about ten yuan, and he has collected various versions of Korean Peacock, so he is not interested in this kind of books now.

After putting down this book, he was immediately attracted to another one, which was a book of two traditional Chinese characters. The name was called Supplementing Five Vowels and was printed by Shanghai Changwen Bureau.

Both of these books were dictionaries from the Republic of China period, and their circulation at that time was very large.

The current use value is very small, but the historical value is still a little bit, because it was not that long ago, so the economic value is not very high.

This kind of thing has collection value, but the price is not high, only about 300-400 yuan.

These were printed in large quantities during the Republic of China, and their collection value is average, mainly depending on their condition. Fortunately, these two volumes are well preserved.

"Brother, I have a good eye. These two books on supplementing the five vowels are definitely good things that I have here. How about it? Take it back and play with it?" The stall owner is a fair-faced old man. At first glance, he looks like he has never done anything before.

The white-faced scholar with only one day's strength is either a retired government official or a retired teacher.

"Uncle, how do you sell these two books?" Han Peacock was very direct. After all, these two books are not very valuable. Even if the boss raises the price, it is impossible to sell them for sky-high prices.

"These are two dictionaries from the Republic of China period. Most people really don't know about them. If you want them, brother, just give me four hundred yuan!" the old man said.

"Four hundred yuan? Two hundred yuan per book! This is too expensive. Even if it is a book from the Republic of China, but it is printed, is such a book so expensive?" Han Peacock wanted to bargain, and he bought it at this price.

, it will not be easy to sell it again.

"This little brother seems to be knowledgeable. You should know that I didn't ask for a high price. If it were a handwritten copy, it would be a sky-high price. It is because it is printed in large quantities, so that's why I said this price. If it is a handwritten copy, this is not the price.

The price is up." The old man said.

Han Peacock immediately pointed to the corner of the booth, where there was a large pile of manuscripts and a thick manuscript sealed with thread. Han Peacock said: "Uncle, that is a manuscript. I wonder what price you want to sell it for?"

"Uh!" The old man didn't know what to say for a moment.

Han Kongque saw it just now. It was a handwritten copy of Dream of Red Mansions. There were a lot of words in Dream of Red Mansions, and I don’t know who had enough to eat and had nothing to do, so he copied the book.

Don't think that all manuscripts are valuable. Han Kongque stopped at this stall at first and came here only after seeing such a thick pile of manuscripts.

Although this book is a handwritten copy, it is a handwritten copy from the 1930s and 1940s. The writing is in traditional Chinese characters with a fountain pen. From these characteristics, it can be inferred that it should be from before the founding of the People's Republic of China, but based on the analysis of the pen characters, it is after the Republic of China. After all, 1809

In 2000, the Wattle Gate Gold Pen Factory in the United States officially produced fountain pens.

At the beginning of the 20th century, gold pens from the United States such as Walter Gate and Parker were introduced to China.

In 1928, the Shanghai Fountain Pen Factory produced the first domestically produced fountain pen. Pens such as Doctor and Guan Leming were famous brand pens before the liberation of my country.

Therefore, this manuscript of Dream of Red Mansions should be from after 28 years, but before 1949. This book was copied and then bound with thread.

Han Kongque flipped through it quickly and found nothing special, and there was no sign of the author who copied it. Although the handwriting was quite regular, it had no special features, so the value of this handwritten copy of Dream of the Red Chamber was not great.

"Uncle, although this Dream of the Red Chamber was not copied by a celebrity, it is still a handwritten copy after all. If this copy of The Dream of the Red Chamber sells for two hundred yuan, it will be fine. As for these two copies that add five vowels, no one will want the two hundred yuan.

" Han Peacock said.

The old man saw that Han Kongque had brought several books together, and he seemed to be sincere in buying them. At a bookstall like his, there were not many ancient and rare books, but the books they bought were cheap, usually at the price of garbage collection, from some collections.

They were selected by poor strength, so the cost is very low. Maybe hundreds of kilograms of books on his bookstall can be received for less than 200 yuan.

Seeing that Han Kongque was interested in buying it, the old man became a little more enthusiastic: "If you want three copies, I will give them to you at a price of two hundred yuan each. You have to know that although this Dream of Red Mansions is ordinary, it is still a masterpiece after all.

No matter who copied the manuscript, you can't deny that the handwriting on it is very neat, right? This kind of manuscript cannot be bought for two hundred yuan. It comes with the two books that add five vowels, and it is worth selling for six hundred yuan.

It’s not expensive.”

Han Kongque thought about it. Two hundred yuan for these two books to add five vowels was considered a bargain. If he added another two hundred yuan to buy a handwritten version of Dream of the Red Chamber, it would be considered an advantage.

"That's it. This is six hundred yuan. Please keep it, uncle." Han Kongque took out six hundred yuan and handed it to the old man, picked up three books and stood up.

The three books together are not very rich. The two books that add five vowels are not interesting. Han Peacock bought it just because it was the first dictionary to appear in China. This kind of thing can generally only be used as a dictionary.

It is seen in museums but rarely seen outside. Now that he bought it, it can only be used for collection.

As for the Dream of Red Mansions, Han Kongque just flipped through it casually. He had read it eight hundred years ago, and he remembered the content clearly. If it hadn't been a handwritten copy, he would never have bought it. After all,

He has several printed versions of Dream of Red Mansions at home.

During the circulation of Dream of Red Mansions, various versions gradually formed, which are divided into two parts: manuscripts and engravings.

The original Dream of Red Mansions, or the Story of the Stone, was circulated in the form of a manuscript among a small circle around the author during the middle and late Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (approximately 1754-1790). There are roughly a dozen manuscripts that have been circulated to this day.

It can be said that copying the Red Mansion can be regarded as a tradition, so it was not strange for Han Peacock to see this manuscript written in the 1930s and 1940s.

Manuscripts are generally very precious, such as the Jiaxu version, the Jimao version, the Gengchen version, the Qixu version, the Yangzang version, the Jiachen version, etc. Almost all of them are collected in major domestic museums, and some versions are collected by foreign museums.

There are even more engravings. The engraving of Dream of Red Mansions was first completed in the fifty-sixth year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1791). In this year, the movable type printed version of Dream of Red Mansions (later known as the "Cheng Jia edition") began to circulate.

Afterwards, Cheng and Gao published a revised edition of Dream of Red Mansions (later called "Cheng Yi Edition") in 1792.

Cheng, Gao, pioneered the printing of printed editions of Dream of the Red Chamber, and became the source of all printed editions for more than 200 years. Later editions include white text and commentary editions, such as the Dongguan Pavilion edition, the Benya Zang edition, the Tenghua Pavilion edition, and the Shanyin edition.

The Lou version, Sanrangtang version, Weiwentang version, Wenyuantang version, Miaofuxuan version, Shitouji with additional comments and illustrations, etc. are all reprints of the Cheng and Gao versions.

Han Kongque liked reading, so he also collected several copies of Dream of Red Mansions, but he had never seen some famous manuscripts or engravings.

What he collected was just a few printed volumes with different contents, all published in the 1950s and 1960s. Fortunately, the contents were different, so they were of some collection value.

The copy he is holding now is the first time he has received a manuscript copy of Dream of Red Mansions.

Next, Han Peacock stayed in the antique street for more than two hours. He really didn't find anything good, so he lost interest in searching for treasures and returned home.

"What good stuff did Xiao Han buy again?" As soon as he walked into the yard, Meng Guangtao saw him and what he was holding, and immediately asked loudly.

"There are no good things, just three books." Han Peacock replied.

After hearing Han Kongque's confirmation, Meng Guangtao immediately stood up: "You missed it again? What a great skill. I heard that you just missed two ancient books a few days ago. What kind of treasures are these three books? Let me tell you, Uncle Meng.

ah!"

"Tch." As soon as Meng Guangtao finished speaking, one of the two middle-aged men beside him immediately showed disdain on his face.

"Earlier, he said that our small bowl was a treasure, so why couldn't he sell it? I said he wasn't a liar, right?" The man said in a low voice to the other man in front of him.

Although the voice was low, Han Kongque heard it clearly. An ordinary person would never hear this, but he was not an ordinary person.

It seems that Meng Guangtao's sale of the small bowl has not gone smoothly these two days. Otherwise, the man's resentment would not be so great. These two must be Meng Guangtao's two sons.

"Xiao Han, these are my two sons. The eldest, Meng Shan, and the second, Meng Tian, are both unlearned and unskilled guys." As he said that, Meng Guangtao gave his second son a fierce look.

"How are you, big brothers!" Han Peacock said hello.

"Brother Han is so polite. I wonder what good things Brother Han has bought. Why don't you let us also open our eyes?" said the boss Meng Shan.

Han Kongque said lightly: "It's really not a good thing. Two dictionaries from the Republic of China period and a hand-written copy of Dream of the Red Chamber are of little value."

"Tch, I thought he was really capable, but it turns out he is a rag collector!" Meng Tian said.

"Second brother, what are you talking about? Xiao Han, don't mind me. I said, second brother, if you don't understand, don't talk nonsense. The handwritten copy of Dream of the Red Chamber is a rare book. It is now collected in major museums and libraries at home and abroad. You

Think it's the kind of Dream of Red Mansions you usually watch?" Meng Guangtao said, a little bit annoyed that iron cannot become steel.

Others don't know about Han Peacock, and he doesn't understand yet. Although Han Peacock has never picked up big leaks in recent years, he often picks up small leaks. This kind of skill is not something ordinary people can do.

At this time, Han Kongque could only smile bitterly: "Uncle Meng, these three books are really not very good. This manuscript is just a copy from the 1930s and 1940s. It was copied with pen calligraphy. It is definitely not of high value, otherwise it would be so

It is impossible for me to receive the obvious copy for two hundred yuan."
