Chapter 70: Grabbing time

After a bumpy night of driving, the car stopped at five o'clock in the morning.

The professor was leaning on the back seat to catch up on his sleep. Just as the car slowed down, he suddenly opened his eyes and asked warily: "What's wrong?"

"We've arrived in Osaka. Let's stop and take a rest." The messenger turned around from the front row and asked, "Sir, do you want something to eat?"

The professor raised his wrist and looked at the time on his watch, then looked at his subordinates who had not slept all night. He hesitated for a few seconds and smiled, "You go to the convenience store next door to buy some food and drinks for the brothers, so that everyone can have a rest.

"

Xin almost nodded, got out of the car with an assistant, and walked towards the convenience store next to him.

The remaining people also took the opportunity to get out of the car, stretch their stiff limbs, breathe fresh air, and at the same time refuel and check the car.

After a long period of high tension and running around, they were all exhausted. It was a rare opportunity to breathe, and they naturally relaxed.

The messenger gave a few instructions and led his assistant into the nearby convenience store. Looking at the enthusiastic clerk, he said, "Bring me thirty pieces of bread, thirty bottles of mineral water, and do you have hot coffee..."

The clerk looked at the courier in astonishment. It was still dark, the replenishment truck had not arrived yet, and there were not many supplies in the convenience store.

"Sorry sir, today's bread has not been delivered, and there is not much mineral water."

The messenger frowned, "Where are the instant noodles? Give me whatever you have left, and mineral water. Is there any coffee?"

"Only instant ones." The clerk responded with a smile, "There is also oden here, do you want it?"

The messenger hesitated for a moment and before he could speak, suddenly a group of people rushed in outside the convenience store.

These people were wearing uniform black windbreakers with almost identical woolen sweaters and shirts underneath. They rushed into the store yelling and started shouting in all directions.

"Quick, bring all the bread, mineral water, and coffee!"

"Are there any instant noodles?"

"Is there any beer?"

"No matter what it is, I want something to eat and drink!"

“You bastard, you’re still thinking about drinking after this time!”

Seeing so many people, the clerk was a little confused for a moment and said, "Sorry, we don't have enough bread and water in the store."

"All convenience stores are out of stock? What other stores do you open?"

"Hey, you guys are too perfunctory in doing things. Don't you prepare the goods so early in the morning?"

The clerk panicked and apologized, "I'm sorry, I'm very sorry. We'll arrange for someone to pick up the goods right now. Please wait a moment."

"How long will it take?!"

These people complained that they were tired and hungry after driving all night, and how could they endure it?

The clerks also complained endlessly. No one expected that so many people would come at five o'clock in the morning. The two groups of people wanted a lot of goods.

Seeing so many people crowding into the small convenience store, the messenger pulled his assistant and slowly retreated into a corner, frowning, instinctively feeling that something was wrong with these people.

The next second, several more people in trench coats walked in surrounded by a middle-aged man.

The others quickly put down what they were holding and bowed to the middle-aged man together, "Professor Takahashi."

Section Chief Takahashi reprimanded with a straight face: "What a mess, don't disgrace our Metropolitan Police Department!"

"Hai!"

"Everyone, cheer up and tidy up. We'll have a day of rest in Osaka today and start again tomorrow."

"Hai!"

The messenger's heart sank when he heard the words "Metropolitan Police Department". The assistant next to him bumped into the shelf next to him in a panic, making a noise and turned pale with fright.

Fortunately, the messenger was relatively calm. He asked his assistant to lower his head to sort out the scattered merchandise on the shelves, and then slowly prepared to go out, pretending to be nonchalant.

As soon as we arrived at the door, the clerk hurriedly shouted: "Sir, it's your stuff."

With this shout, everyone in the store turned their attention to the messenger and his assistant at the door.

The messenger reacted very quickly and said quickly: "No, let's give these things to them. They need these more than me."

The people in the surrounding Metropolitan Police Department immediately beamed with joy. A few of them thanked the courier perfunctorily and stretched out their hands to ask for something from the clerk.

Takahashi frowned and scolded: "Stop, what do you look like?"

As he spoke, he took the packed bag from the clerk, turned around and handed it to the courier, "Thank you for your kindness, we'd better wait."

The messenger was startled, and subconsciously wanted to refuse. Suddenly he saw Takahashi looking at him, and he immediately changed his words, "Thank you very much!"

"Are you going to Osaka too?" Takahashi asked casually.

"No, we just came from Osaka." The messenger replied, "We are all from Shikoku and are going to Kyoto."

"Oh, then you are taking the wrong route. This road is to Nara. To go to Kyoto, you have to take another road."

The messenger was stunned for a moment and pretended to be annoyed, "That's right. Thank you very much. We almost took a long detour. It's our first time here. Thank you for your advice."

After saying this, I thanked him solemnly, turned around and walked out of the convenience store.

But Takahashi stood at the door, watching the couriers walking towards the motorcade, staring at them expressionlessly.

Once in the car, the courier reported in detail what had just happened.

After finishing speaking, everyone in the carriage fell silent, and some people subconsciously took out their guns.

"Put the gun away." The professor scolded sternly, "Don't panic, we are not exposed, otherwise the people coming will not be plainclothes, but special assault troops."

Everyone in the car calmed down a little, but the uneasy atmosphere was still spreading everywhere.

The messenger looked at the professor with a sullen face, "The convenience store is full of plainclothes policemen. It seems that they have just come from Tokyo. What should we do?"

An assistant suggested, "We can't go to Kobe, so we should turn around and go back to Tokyo first."

"No, we can't go back." The professor said decisively, "We don't know what's going on in Tokyo right now. It's easy to be in danger if you run into it."

"What's more, the messenger just told them that we are going to Kyoto. If we turn around and go back to Tokyo at this time, we have to pass through Nara. The secret will be exposed soon." The professor said with a sullen face, "The bureaucrats in the Metropolitan Police Department are not fools. They can detect problems immediately.

Come."

"Then what should we do?" the messenger asked, "These people from the Metropolitan Police Department must also be going to Kobe, otherwise there would be no such coincidence."

"Let's move on, let's go to Kobe." The professor said calmly, "They have to repair in Osaka for a day. We arrived in Kobe ahead of them. We still have at least one day. This day is enough for us to complete the transaction and then leave Japan.

.”

The messenger took a deep breath and nodded, "Okay."

The professor knew he was taking a risk, but he had no choice.

The nuclear material he is holding is a hot potato and must be dealt with quickly.

Moreover, he has already made an agreement with the buyer, and the buyer has paid the deposit. If he does not go, it is equivalent to breaking the contract.

He couldn't afford to offend the buyer this time.

What's more, people from the Metropolitan Police Department are also rushing to Kobe. If the buyers find out about this situation, they will think that the professor betrayed them, and the subsequent troubles will not be so easy to solve.

Now, we must not give up halfway. We must rush to Kobe to complete the transaction before the plainclothes officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrive, and then get the money and run away.
