Chapter 46 The Secret Snooper

Chapter 46 The spy in the dark

The guards had all seen blood, and when they smelled it, their faces darkened.

‘Clang!’

The captain of the guard drew his sword and rushed into the wooden house quickly.

Rosen followed in a hurry, but before he entered the room, he heard the guard captain whisper: "Oh, damn!"

Rosen looked over and saw the alchemist Stan lying on the table with a dagger stuck deep in his heart. There were several dishes on the table next to him.

Apparently, the other party was attacked while having breakfast.

Sneak attackers are very skilled, because although alchemists don't have any spells, they do have mana, and mages can usually use their hands very smoothly. Ordinary people are no match for them.

The corpse was still bleeding, and the blood on the ground had not completely solidified.

Rosen immediately said: "Uncle, someone just died."

Rosen left the wooden house with a normal expression on his face and walked in the alley normally.

"Maybe he jumped out of the window. Well, no, the back window is too small to get past people, and there's no point in jumping out of the front window." A guard said quickly.

"Go check it out and pry open the floor. Remember to be careful and don't get attacked by a sneak attack."

Naturally, Rosen didn't dare. Who knows how capable the assassin hidden inside was. If he was a master, he would die young.

While there was a fight between man and dog in the secret room, two guards rushed to the entrance of the cave with two 3-meter-long iron guns and stabbed them continuously into the cave under the light.

"Stop hiding, come out!"

Rosen's thoughts condensed, his mana flowed, and his body floated up, directly to the second floor window. At the same time, two iron beads flew around him, and the resistance field was ready.

There were two "bang bang" sounds, and dust flew up from the wall, but it did not hit the body, indicating that no one was ambushing behind the window.

Then he walked to the window facing the street and hid behind the wooden wall on one side of the window, using the mirror to quietly observe the situation in the alley.

"That guy doesn't know me. He's most likely just an associate of the assassin, not the real murderer!"

"I'll pay attention."

The three guards were obviously a little nervous and did not dare to act rashly.

"Alchemist Stan is a person with status. Silencing him directly would have extremely negative consequences, so he has been kept alive."

At this point, the overall situation has been decided.

‘Whoosh!’

Rosen didn't speak, he was looking down at the floor.

Another iron ball flew out and still penetrated into the second floor window, but this time only a 'bang' was heard, the sound of hitting the wooden board.

He lowered his voice and said: "You three uncles, look under the carpet!"

The assassin in the secret room has become a trapped beast, and whoever rushes in may be destroyed.

But just because some people don’t dare to go, doesn’t mean others don’t.

"Well, be careful on the road."

The captain of the guard thought about it carefully and found that this matter indeed had nothing to do with the child, and it would be better if he left, so that he could take the sole credit for capturing the murderer.

The shot was empty and the target moved its position.

The captain of the guard looked around and found a windproof oil lamp on the wall, so he went over to light it, then picked it up with a wooden stick and hung it near the entrance of the cave.

After thinking for a moment, Rosen understood.

Rosen immediately summoned the adventure log and took a closer look through the perspective of the log.

When they arrived at the door, the captain of the guard told the butcher about the situation, and the butcher threw the meat bones into the secret room. Three big dogs howled and pounced in.

The three guards looked around the room several times, even looking at the roof, but found no trace of the assassin.

The captain of the guard understood: "There is a secret room under the floor!"

The two iron beads got into the window first. After getting in, they did not fly straight, but drew an arc, turned around, and flew towards the walls on both sides of the window.

After a while, the soldier came over with a man dressed as a butcher. The butcher was carrying a piece of meat bone in his left hand and leading three strong big dogs in his right hand.

Rosen's mind turned around and he had an idea. He whispered into the guard captain's ear: "Uncle, why don't you borrow some ferocious hounds from a nearby house and throw them in?"

But if you were a normal person, why would you suppress your screams of pain?

This further proves Rosen's conjecture.

"But as soon as I started investigating the Maboli embalming fluid, he was killed immediately. This means that the alchemist has seen the face of the real murderer, and it also means that someone is secretly monitoring my every move."

Because of the commotion in the wooden house, many people had gathered outside the yard to watch the fun.

Rosen then rushed into the room.

Rosen thought for 2 seconds, several thoughts quickly passed through his mind, and then he jumped out of the window again.

After arriving at the end of the field, I condensed my thoughts, and an iron ball flew out of my pocket. With a 'swish' sound, it turned and flew into the second floor window, and rushed towards the target's lower body.

As soon as this thought came to his mind, Rosen immediately shouted: "Uncle, be careful, the assassin is probably still in the house!"

Once inside, I looked around.

Everyone cherished their lives, and naturally so did the guards. The three of them only gathered around the entrance of the cave, but did not dare to easily enter the secret room to check.

‘Less than ten minutes after the person died, there were no assassin footprints in the yard. Could it be that the assassin flew in, or that he only had time to clean up the footprints when he entered, but had no time to get out?!’

During this time, Rosen was not just watching the fun. When the guards subdued the assassin, his mind was still running at high speed.

Unless there is something wrong with him!

But even so, Rosen was not in a hurry to take action. He continued to observe the nearby situation, looking at the terrain in this area while looking for other suspicious onlookers.

'Clang! Clang!'

This is an empty, uninhabited room. Although it is fully furnished, the surface is covered with a thick layer of dust.

Therefore, this small movement was not noticed by others.

He said to the men beside him: "Why are you standing there, why don't you go quickly?!"

It can be imagined that the assassin originally wanted to leave, but was blocked in the room due to Rosen's unexpected appearance, so he lifted up the carpet and walked away. When he reached the hiding place, he hid in and put down the carpet to cover his footprints.

You can imagine how brutal the battle was, and the assassin must have been seriously injured.

A large amount of blood stains could be seen on the floor near the window, and footprints on the floor were clearly visible, extending all the way to the door of the room.

Now I could see clearly, there was a pair of eyes in the gap.

The mage's hand gently lifted off the blanket on the ground, revealing faint footprints, which extended all the way to the inside of the room until they reached a wooden board and then suddenly disappeared.

So you still can't get too excited, otherwise no matter how many lives you have, it won't be enough.

Then, he walked to the guard captain and said, "Uncle, the assassin has taken wings and cannot escape. I still have things to do, so I will leave first."

‘Whoosh!’

"So, the secret room assassin can't actually ask anything."

After a quick look around, no second suspicious person was found.

"Yes, Captain."

The alchemist's wooden house is small, single-story, with a simple internal structure. The living room, bedroom, and kitchen are completely connected. There are no partitions in the middle. What's going on inside is clear at a glance.

"There seems to be no one," the guard captain said solemnly.

There were muddy footprints on the floor, pools of blood, and blood drops flying everywhere. However, these messy traces did not seem to reveal any valuable information, and at least the three guards did not notice it.

As he spoke, a thought quickly flashed through his mind.

When he first walked out of the wooden house, the other party glanced at him a few times. After he left the wooden house, the other party's eyes returned to the alchemist's wooden house.

"Maybe this little guy guessed wrong. He has left long ago." Another guard had a different opinion.

It's broad daylight. If there's a lot of excitement, just watch it openly. Why be so sneaky?

The guard captain's eyes lit up: "Ah ha, you have a good idea!"

He turned around and gestured to the two guards behind him, then pointed to the floor.

After a while, the dog's howling was heard again, but immediately after, the screams of someone were heard.

There was no response, and the flickering light slightly illuminated the secret room. It could be seen that it was a warehouse for storing supplies. Some wooden boxes could be seen from the side, but the hiding assassin could not be seen.

Behind the two men, another group of patrolling guards followed.

"Bang!"

‘Pfft~~Ah!’

Rosen observed one by one through the reflection of the mirror.

"If I were this person, I would definitely not assassinate the alchemist myself. Instead, I would spend money to find a professional assassin, and then hide nearby to observe the follow-up to make the next step."

Being able to be bitten like this by several hounds, his skill is obviously average, he can kill the alchemist, and it mainly takes advantage of the sneak attack.

As he watched, his eyes were fixed on the second-story window of a wooden building about 40 meters away.

One of the footprints on the ground is clear, but the other has obvious dragging marks, indicating that the opponent was hit in the leg, but even though the opponent suffered such injuries, he still has good athletic ability.

Rosen didn't dare to exaggerate, so he quickly retreated and didn't stop until he reached the door.

It was only a matter of time before the assassin was caught.

In other words, the guy behind the curtain may be the murderer behind a series of murders in recent times, or at least an accomplice!

Rosen felt his heart beat a little faster, and used a mage's hand to put the mirror back.

He was also on full alert and looked around, looking for traces left by the assassin.

In this case, Rosen quietly walked along the blind spot of the other party's sight and walked to the bottom of the wooden house.

The three soldiers and Rosen each stood in a position, back to back, and their eyes were all quickly scanning the corners of the house.

The two guards stepped forward lightly, carefully inserted the long swords in their hands into the gap in the wooden board, and then pried it up at the same time.

An investigation is an investigation, and the instructor may be secretly protecting you, but there will always be omissions.

You have already thought about it before taking action. If you accidentally get hurt, you will lose money at worst. If you guess correctly, you will make money.

With a slight movement in his heart, the mage picked up the mirror with his hand.

The wooden board was pried away, revealing a square hole. The hole was pitch black and nothing could be seen.

The sound of iron balls entering flesh and the cry of pain sounded almost at the same time, but the cry of pain only lasted half a sound before it was forcibly stopped.

'My skills are good. Although I was injured by a sneak attack, I have not lost my fighting ability. The situation in the house is complicated. If I chase you forcefully, I will get a counterattack if I am not careful!'

The two guards also raised their shields.

The light inside the window was dim, and the curtains were mostly closed, leaving only a small gap exposed.

"This monitor is probably the one who framed the crime."

Thinking of this, Rosen suddenly saw a mirror on the table beside him.

But in fact, he had been observing the second floor window through the adventure journal, and soon discovered another subtle detail.

Most people were standing in the alley, and a few people were standing in the houses across the alley, either at the door or at the window.

After a few seconds, ferocious barking of dogs could be heard in the cave, as well as the muffled grunt of someone being injured.

But Rosen discovered it.

"It's a little strange."

What he didn't know was that on the ceiling of the corridor behind the door, a black figure held his breath and propped his body on the wall above the narrow corridor like a gecko.

The shadow's right leg was shaking slightly because of pain, but his hand was tightly holding a dagger painted black.

When he heard the movement in the room, the black shadow suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, and his body relaxed its strength, falling from the ceiling like a feather.

Behind the face mask was a pair of eyes full of horror.
