Xiao Feng's expression changed slightly. He never expected that Zhiguang would choose to commit suicide by taking poison in order to conceal the true identity of the leader. What had happened was irreversible, so Xiao Feng could only shake his head and sigh.
The young novice monk who had led Xiao Feng over earlier came in and was not surprised to see his master passing away. He just chanted the Buddha's name and knelt down.
Xiao Feng saw the little novice's reaction and knew that Zhiguang had already had a death wish, so he thought to himself: "I didn't kill Boren, but Boren died because of me. Master Zhiguang, why are you doing this?"
Thinking of this, his heart froze for a little while, he sighed, bowed to Zhiguang's body, and withdrew.
Xiao Feng retreated from the meditation room and walked out along the same path. In such a large temple, there were still a few young novices cleaning the house, but now they have completely disappeared. The whole temple is as quiet as an ancient tomb that has been abandoned for a long time, with hidden secrets buried there.
secret.
Just as Xiao Feng was about to step out of the temple, a calm voice sounded from behind: "Almsgiver Xiao, please stay. This poor monk has something to say."
Xiao Feng was shocked, turned around, and saw a middle-aged monk who looked about forty or fifty years old, wearing a gray monk's robe, standing behind him with a peaceful expression.
Xiao Feng was surprised: based on his eyesight, he immediately judged that this monk did not know martial arts. He did not have any of the common characteristics of internal and external masters. How could he appear quietly behind him without him noticing at all?
Arrive?
Xiao Feng had met Shaolin and other eminent monks of the Xuan generation before, and had also seen the superb martial arts cultivation of King Maha Lun Ming. However, at first glance, these eminent monks certainly had a feeling of compassion to save the world and the solemnity of the Dharma, but this feeling was more than half
It's just superficial. For example, Maharaja Maharaja looks majestic, but his moves are ruthless.
But the middle-aged monk in front of him simply stood there, giving people an extremely natural feeling. It was different from the oppressive force of a martial arts master. Instead, he seemed to be one with nature.
Xiao Feng is only proficient in writing and doesn't have much thought to study articles and classics, otherwise he should be able to think of a word at this moment, "harmony with light and dust".
Seeing the extraordinary popularity, Xiao Feng did not dare to be indifferent and hurriedly saluted and said: "I wonder if you have any advice, master?"
The origin of the other party is unknown, and Xiao Feng suspects that the other party is here to investigate Zhiguang's death, so he is secretly on guard.
The middle-aged monk returned the favor and said, "Donor Xiao, there is no need to be too polite. The poor monk's name is Zhizhen, and Zen Master Zhiguang is the poor monk's senior brother."
"It turns out to be Master Zhizhen. I'm rude and disrespectful."
After Xiao Feng heard the other party's name, he didn't dare to neglect him even more.
It turns out that although Zen Master Zhizhen is not a martial arts person and has no involvement in martial arts, he is quite famous in this northern land. What's more, he is called a living Buddha because of his profound Buddhist cultivation and his good skills. He has received his guidance.
Often in the midst of difficulties, there are twists and turns, and there is a bright future.
However, Xiao Feng himself does not really believe these rumors. In his opinion, everything in life is done by oneself. How can it be predicted in a few words?
Zhizhen smiled and said: "Almsgiver Xiao came from afar, how could he leave in such a hurry? Why don't you have some fast food at the small temple before leaving?"
Xiao Feng did not hide anything and said openly: "Master Rongzhen, I came here this time to ask Master Zhiguang about a past event that happened thirty years ago. This matter is related to the blood feud between my biological parents. Xiao Feng has no intention of harming me.
Master Zhiguang, however, in order not to reveal the identity of the leader who killed my parents, Master Zhiguang actually chose to commit suicide by taking poison. I am confused and confused, and I pray for your enlightenment."
Zhiguang didn't seem surprised when he heard this. He just sighed slightly: "Everything is predestined and has a law, so we should observe it like this. Senior brother can't see through it after all. It seems that there should be such a calamity, and it is said to be destiny."
When Xiao Feng saw the other party's reaction, he thought: Could it be that this monk Zhizhen knows something?
So he lifted up the hem of his robe, bowed to the other party solemnly and said: "What Xiao Feng did was not to kill indiscriminately. He just wanted to know the identity of the culprit. I prayed for Master's mercy and gave me a few words to resolve the confusion in Xiao Feng's mind.
"
Zhizhen said: "Sow the cause and reap the fruit. The poor monk showed up today to meet the benefactor Xiao, and he also intervened in the cause and effect of the benefactor. It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter, just come with me and you will find out for yourself."
So Xiao Feng followed Zhizhen all the way through corridors and alleys, and entered a pure Zen room.
Zhizhen said: "The poor monk usually solves other people's doubts and is used to praying. Now the poor monk has also taken a lesson for Xiao Almsgiver. Everything is done according to Xiao Almsgiver's will. Let's see what God's will is. What does Xiao Almsgiver decide?"
Although Xiao Feng was doubtful in his heart, he still respectfully saluted Zhizhen and said, "Master, I beg you for mercy."
So Zhizhen washed his hands, picked up a stick of incense, lit it, and inserted it into the incense burner. Then he got on the meditation bed with his legs crossed and closed his eyes to meditate.
After the stick of incense was burned out, Zen Master Zhizhen opened his eyes, recited the Buddha's name "Amitabha", reached into the incense burner to take the ashes of the stick of incense, dipped his fingers on the ground and wrote the following text:
All things are common and all living beings are equal. Han people and Khitans treat everyone equally. Gratitude, honor and disgrace are mysterious and difficult to understand. You should have compassion and always think of the common people.
After writing, he smiled slightly and closed his eyes.
Xiao Feng looked at the eight sentences on the ground and was in a daze, thinking: "In the eyes of Buddhism, not only the benevolent and the evil are the same, but there is also no difference between animals, hungry ghosts, emperors and generals. Am I a Han or a Khitan?"
It is really insignificant. But I am not a disciple of Buddhism, how can I be as free and easy as him?" He said: "Master, who is the big brother who is taking the lead? Please tell me." After several questions, Zhizhen only smiled and did not answer.
Seeing that the other party stopped talking, Xiao Feng sighed in his heart and did not force it. He thought to himself that he had indirectly killed Zhiguang, how could he force Zhizhen again, who had nothing to do with the Yanmenguan incident? Not to mention that he had good intentions and could give him some relief.
He stood up and bowed and said, "Thank you, Master, for your guidance. I will take my leave."
Then, Xiao Feng stood up and left.
After a cup of tea, after Xiao Feng had gone far, Zhizhen slowly opened his eyes, stared at the few lines of poetry written with incense ash on the ground, and sighed slightly.
Buddhist gathas often involve cause and effect and are difficult to express directly, so they are written in an obscure and difficult-to-understand form. When enlightening people, they often hide information. Whether they can be understood clearly depends on the fate of the person they seek.
.
If Xiao Feng had been careful enough and smart enough just now, he should have been able to see the word "Xuan Ci" from the Buddhist verse, which would have answered his doubts.
It's a pity that Xiao Feng's spiritual platform has not yet been revealed, and he is surrounded by doubts, so that he cannot understand the potential of this. As a result, there will be more unforeseen storms in the world. Of course, these are all things for another time.
(Zen Master Zhizhen of Wenshu Monastery in Wutai Mountain is Lu Zhishen’s master in Water Margin. He once predicted Lu Zhishen’s life in a few words. He is a truly virtuous monk. His appearance here is a small link with Water Margin, haha)
