Chapter 11, Important Resources

Egger turned around and looked at the furniture and decorations in the living room intently. The first thing that caught his eye were the numerous handicrafts.

Seeing so many handicrafts of various types, Egger gained some understanding of Elvira’s character:

This is a prodigal woman who likes to buy gadgets.

Or, this is a prodigal woman who likes to buy tools and make gadgets herself.

When Iger commented on Avila like this, he seemed to have forgotten that he had a special glass showcase filled with beautiful girls.

I don’t know what Vance said to Avella. Avella sobbed quietly at first, and then couldn’t help but burst into tears. Obviously, Vance didn’t want to take Avella to the gospel church.

At this time, Iger suddenly turned his head and said, "I think we should take her away."

After hearing what Iger said, Vance, who was suppressing his anger, and Elvira, who was crying, turned their heads to look at Iger.

"I think we should take her away," Iger said.

"Boy, what do you know!" After being stabbed in the back by a teammate with a black leather knife, Vance couldn't hold back his anger and yelled at Egg.

Iger frowned. Fortunately, he was in a closed room, but he couldn't let these two immature adults have their way.

"Madam, please stop crying now." Iger said to Avella. This is why Iger didn't quite understand. Saying "Don't cry" to a crying woman will make them cry even harder.

Sure enough, if the original sound was only at level 7, after Iger said this, Elvira's crying was directly increased to level 10. As a result, she just howled twice, and Vance slapped her to shut up.

Well, violence is wrong, and violence against women is even wrong, but Vance just knocked off a blaring siren.

After Vance knocked Avella to the ground with a slap, he pulled out the Glock from his waist and pointed it at Avella.

"Uncle Vance, what are you doing?" The situation suddenly changed, and Iger found that the situation exceeded his expectations and ability to control.

"Please, please, please..." Elvira collapsed on the ground and looked at Vance with tears in her eyes. This was the only plea left in her mouth.

"Uncle Vance." Egg said to Vance, "Yesterday, when I was in the most difficult situation and needed help the most, it was you and Father Locke who saved me."

"It has nothing to do with me." Vance was at the peak of his anger. He didn't want to take up a ladder like Iger.

"In less than a day, I recovered, and I also tried my best to work for the team." Iger said while organizing his words in his mind. The more he spoke, the clearer his ideas became.

"We are in the midst of a disaster that may wipe out humanity. To survive this disaster, in addition to weapons and guns to combat the threat of infected people, we also need many resources to rebuild our homes."

"We need food, medicine, fuel, and many, many things." After Iger paused here, he continued: "But among all resources, the most precious are survivors."

"Every living human being is an extremely precious and scarce resource. Only by gathering more survivors can we resume production, rebuild our homes, light up the light of civilization again, and allow humans to continue to exist in this world."

Egger's words had almost reached his limit, and Vance understood.

Vance put down the gun in his hand and turned to Iger and asked: "You know the White House is finished?"

"Yes, Uncle Vance." Iger nodded.

Vance smiled mockingly and continued to ask: "Our army, the National Guard, are all destroyed?"

Egger continued to nod.

"You know everything, why did you save her?!" Vance roared at Iger, "I'm not the military, the National Guard, the police, and not a superhero, why should I save such a loser?

!Do you think I live an easy life?"

Vance, who accompanies Lily on the radio every day, has long known that since the day the blood epidemic broke out, all radio broadcasts have been silent, and the only radio station that can be received now is Lily's "Sweet Life" broadcast.

At first, mobile phone communication was still available, but Vance called all the numbers in the address book, including 911, and all received busy signals; the social network, which was originally as lively as a supermarket checkout, seemed to have crashed, and all updates

All stopped.

All this evidence points to Vance's deepest fear: Not this community, not just this town, not just this city, but all of America was destroyed that day.

Everything is gone, completely finished.

These days, Vance's biggest fear is how Lily will survive if he is gone. Fortunately, he has a close friend who is worthy of trust and entrustment, Father Locke.

But after Father Locke, Lily is only 28 years old this year.

In the past few days, as long as his mind is free, Vance's thoughts will uncontrollably fall into great despair and fear. His mental value continues to decline. Now there are only 2 points left. Vance is only one step away from a mental breakdown.

.

Vance could feel a sense of peace when he was with Father Locke, but once he left the priest, the suppressed panic emerged.

Until just now, Vance had been pretending very well, but when Avella clung to him, he finally broke out.

Egg stared at Vance's red eyes. It was the first time that he saw Vance explode and lose control. He didn't know what to do. Any of his next actions might cause Vance to shoot him first and then kill him.

Drop Elvira, and finally go back to report encountering an infected person, and Egger dies.

In the flash of lightning, Iger thought of an important node. He calmly said to Vance, who was like a man-eating beast: "You save others in times of crisis, and others will save Lily in times of crisis."

These words were like a basin of ice water poured on Vance's head. Vance's murderous intention that was about to explode just now was like a balloon punctured by a needle.

Lily, his beloved daughter, his angel, the only light in his life, is his strongest motivation to defeat death.

What Iger said to Vance was very straightforward. He was the "other" who was willing to save Lily in times of crisis.

As for Elvira.

Avella was once Vance's regular lover. At first, Vance was very satisfied with this woman who had a well-maintained figure. As the relationship between the two deepened, Vance found that Avella was very neurotic. She encountered unexpected events.

Events often result in panic and even mental breakdown, including but not limited to hysterical screaming.

On the day the blood plague broke out, Elvira was first frightened. When she regained the ability to scream, she happened to encounter a group of survivors who had a large-scale gun battle with the infected at the police station. Almost the entire community of infected people rushed over.

, the ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping ping pong gun also covered up Elvira’s scream.

After that, Avella's threshold was a little higher. At least she was able to stay calm when she hid behind the second-floor window and secretly observed what was going on below. She remained calm until she saw Vance and Egg.

Out of his understanding of Avila, Vance knew that if he didn't respond, the woman could call the entire community of infected people, so he had to take Egg into her house to deal with the woman.

After Elvira met Vance, she knew Vance very well and knew what her only value was in impressing Vance, so she quickly took off her clothes and tried to please this man.

But what Avella doesn't know is that Vance's mind has long been unstable. If Iger hadn't been present, Avella's end today would have been to be fried first and then killed by Vance, or killed first and then fried.

However, Egger reminded Vance with the simplest sentence "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" that others can treat Lily how you treat other weak people.

Finally, Vance gave in and put away his Glock.
