Chapter 1, I want to live

"ah!"

As soon as I opened my eyes, my body couldn't help but let out a groan of pain, my head felt dizzy, and every part of my body hurt.

Thirsty, very thirsty, drink, water, tea, beer, any liquid will do.

As he struggled to support his body with his hands, another burst of sharp pain came from his head and heart, causing him to grit his teeth and crack his mouth, revealing a mouth full of white teeth.

After a few seconds, the sting subsided temporarily. He looked around, where is this place?

This is a room with many desks and chairs and a huge space. There is a movable blackboard and a projector screen that has been pulled down in the front of the room.

The desks and chairs seemed to have been played with as toys by a group of naughty children. They were either stacked on top of each other or staggered around.

Looking at the papers on the floor and a globe with a broken stand rolling around on the floor, he determined that he should be in a classroom.

Another sharp pain hit him. He held his head with his hands and gave up thinking. His body's instinct ordered him to stand up and look for any liquid he could drink.

After standing up and taking two steps, he stumbled and fell to the ground. He struggled to get up and found that fluid was leaking out of him.

He stretched out his hand and touched it. His nose was bleeding continuously, and there seemed to be something foreign in his mouth. He spit out a mouthful of saliva and spit out two bloody teeth.

He didn't know whether he was confused by the fever or was covered by more severe pain. He lost two teeth, but he didn't even feel a trace of pain.

He pinched his bleeding nose with his hands and tried to maintain his balance as he walked out the door.

In the corridor, warm sunlight filtered through the glass windows, illuminating the corridor filled with clutter so brightly.

In a daze, he vaguely saw two figures walking towards him in front of him.

"Hey, here's another one of my favorites."

"May the Lord forgive our sins."

He released the hand covering his nose, opened his bleeding mouth, took a deep breath, and shouted with difficulty: "Help..."

As soon as he finished speaking, he fell to the ground.

The hard floor is so comfortable to lie on. The good news is that the headache is not that bad anymore, but the bad news is that the fever seems to be more serious.

In a daze, he heard two footsteps approaching him, so he shouted with difficulty: "Help, help me... I'm not dead yet, I'm worthy of your rescue..."

"He's still alive."

"Father, don't come close. I think he is about to change. Why don't I just give him an axe?"

"Stop! He's still a child."

"Alas. All the people here are children."

Boom, the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground was heard.

"I'll leave my backpack to you and I'll carry him back."

"Father, he is hopeless. You can't save everyone! Father, Father!"

His head rested on a warm and broad shoulder. It was so comfortable, even more comfortable than lying on the ground just now. He fell into a deep sleep.

****

Being lethargic could not escape the torture of severe pain, and he woke up with a burst of high fever.

"Water, I want to drink water."

He lay groaning.

As he moaned, a straw was passed into his mouth. He sucked hard, and a stream of cool and sweet cold water entered his mouth. He couldn't wait to suck the water and swallowed it greedily, gulu,

Gulu, Gulu, after he finished drinking the water, he shouted with difficulty: "I still want water."

He sucked another round of water through the straw, and he didn't stop until his stomach felt so swollen that the water seemed to pour out of his throat.

The cool water seemed to extinguish his high fever, and he felt much more comfortable now. Only then did he realize that there seemed to be something in his field of vision that he shouldn't have.

In the lower left corner of his field of vision, there is an icon that looks like lungs. Behind the icon is a number 5. In the lower right corner of his field of vision is an icon that looks like a heart. The number behind the icon is 10.

In the middle of the two icons is a human body icon. The human body icon is red, and the small words behind the icon are: Blood epidemic outbreak.

"Where am I?"

After he stabilized his mind, he discovered something more: the person taking care of him was a white nun.

These are real nuns, not those two-dimensional girls you see on computers.

He was in a daze, and the only thing he was certain of was that he was definitely not in the Central Plains.

"Hello, may I ask where this is?" he asked the nun.

"This is the Evangelical Church, and I am the nun here, Maria Green." Sister Maria said, "You are a local. Sorry, I don't go out of the church very often, so many children don't know you.

What is your name?"

"What name?" He thought for a moment. It would be better not to reveal his real name before he died in such a miserable and embarrassing way, so he opened his mouth and said: "My name is Egg Lee."

"Hello, Egger." Sister Maria seemed to speak more fluently after seeing that Egger was not as difficult to deal with as other little brats. She said to Egger: "I have some bad news that I have to tell you."

Egger sighed desperately and said, "Am I infected?"

Seeing Iger's condition, Sister Maria quickly comforted her: "It's not that bad, it's just a persistent high fever and signs of dehydration. Also, your blood oxygen saturation is very low, and the color of the blood on your fingers is very dark.

Of course, don't worry, you'll be fine."

Egger shook his head. No matter how stupid he was, he still understood the words "blood plague outbreak". With these words, just a few moments later, he would either become a vampire or a zombie.

"I don't want to die." Egg said to himself.

"What?" Iger's voice was too soft and Sister Maria didn't hear it clearly. She lowered her head and asked again.

Egger took a deep breath and shouted with all his strength: "I don't want to die!!"

This shrill cry was full of unwillingness and nostalgia. Sister Maria's eyes suddenly turned red, she turned around, covered her face and ran out of the room.

"Father, the child is awake, but his condition is very bad and he will not last long." Sister Maria sobbed and interrupted the two people who were arguing.

"Oh, I understand, let's get over it." A tall old man wearing a black monk's robe and a wooden cross hanging on his head. His gray hair did not make his body weak at all. He was the church's priest, Roque Garcia.

"Father, that guy is about to die. Don't waste the serum on him." The speaker was a strong man wearing a full set of off-shoulder jeans. His thick beard could not hide the sunburn caused by long-term outdoor work.

Red Neck, this is Vance Scott, an ardent churchgoer.

"Vance, he is still a child." Father Locke sighed and said: "If there is still hope in this world, the light of hope must be in the child."

"But, but..." The word 'inner' almost blurted out of Vance's mouth. Fortunately, he reacted quickly and made up a temporary reason: "I own half of that bottle of serum."

Father Locke patted Vance on the shoulder and said, "Old man, I owe you half a bottle." After saying that, he picked up the white medicine box and walked toward the house.

Father Locke strode to Egger's side. He put the medicine box on the bed, opened it, and skillfully took out the syringe. He then took out the bottle of serum in his arms that was marked "not clinically tested", pulled it out, and inserted it into Egger's veins.

The arm that popped out pushed all the tube of serum into Egg's veins.

A strong, severe pain emanated from the arm. It seemed that the condition of the arm was already in such bad condition, but it was only then that the nervous system returned to normal perception.

Then, the severe pain spread throughout Egger's body. He gritted his teeth and stared at his bloodshot eyes as he watched the words behind the red human body icon change to: The blood epidemic is receding.

"ah!!"

Egger finally couldn't help shouting in severe pain. Then, he took a deep breath and tried his best to vent the severe pain in his body:

"I want to live!"
