The 1407th Section Ruling 1 Silently Flying Cute Lord 4/18

After putting on a show, Liu Che accepted the high hat put on him by the disciples and ministers with peace of mind. Tianlai Novel.|2

Then, he asked: "In that case, please tell me..."

"The dispute between my ministers and others is about the rights and wrongs between the Zhigong case and the Sanbei case..." the Legalist scholar bowed.

Of course Liu Che knew the Zhigong case and the Sanbei case, but he deliberately pretended to be stupid and asked: "What is the Zhigong case? What is the Sanbei case?"

At this time, Confucianism could no longer bear it - if the initiative was taken away by Legalism, then there is no doubt that Confucianism might suffer a big setback this time.

Therefore, Lu Bushu, another disciple of Dong Zhongshu, immediately came out to pay homage: "Your Majesty, please allow me to speak to your Majesty..."

Liu Che naturally agreed - even in today's Tingwei Yamen, criminals are allowed to self-identify!

"Your Majesty, this Zhi Gong case is a sheep theft case in the Chu State during the Spring and Autumn Period..." Lu Bushu bowed deeply: "As recorded in "Lu's Spring and Autumn Annals": There was a Zhi Gong in Chu, and his father stole a sheep.

When he came to pay homage to him, he ordered him to be executed. He bowed down and asked him to take his place. When he was about to be executed, he told the officials: "My father stole the sheep and paid homage to him. Isn't it true? Isn't it also filial to my father who killed him and replaced him? I believe it."

If one is filial and punishes him, will there be anyone in the country who will not punish him?" When King Jing heard this, he did not punish him. Confucius said: "What's strange! It is faith to bow straight and bow, and it is named after a father! Therefore, the faith of straight bowing is not as good as no faith...

…”

Liu Che smiled as he listened.

"This Confucian school really has mastered the magic of the Spring and Autumn Period..." Liu Che sighed in his heart: "The methods of later generations of intellectuals are no more than this..."

In fact, there are multiple versions of the Zhigong case.

For example, this version in Lu's Spring and Autumn Annals.

But the version recorded in Lu's Spring and Autumn Annals is the most beautiful, gentlest and most perfect version among all the versions.

Zhi Gong reported his father for stealing sheep, and was eventually pardoned by the King of Chu.

There is no doubt that this is what Confucian scholars need.

In this way, the problem of loyalty and filial piety being incompatible is avoided, and it further highlights the values that Confucianism adheres to.

But the problem is - what the Legalists want to argue with is Han Feizi, Zhuangzi's version! That is the dark ending.

The version where he reported his father for stealing a sheep and was killed by Ling Yin.

Therefore, the Legalists immediately went berserk, and the young scholar immediately intervened and said: "Your Majesty, what I have discussed with the Confucians is not this! It is a public case recorded in "Han Feizi": Chu

There is Zhi Gong, whose father steals a sheep and pays homage to the officials. Ling Yin said: 'Kill him' because he thinks Zhi Gong is a king and bends to his father, and it is a crime to retaliate!"

Lu Bushu immediately bowed and said, "I have never heard of this. Don't try to create something out of nothing or deceive me!"

This accusation is too sharp!

Moreover, it is too heart-breaking and too self-centered.

Even Liu Che frowned slightly, which is why Liu Che never liked Confucianism.

In the eyes of Confucians, only what they record is true.

If what others recorded was beneficial to him, such as the things recorded in the "Lu Shi Chun Qiu" on the Zhigong case, he would recognize them, but he would regard the stories recorded in "Han Feizi" as invisible.

Just like when Confucius compiled the "Book of Songs" and "Shangshu", it is also like when Zixia wrote the Spring and Autumn Period.

Liu Che had seen this kind of disregard for magical skills and ostrich magic skills countless times in later generations of public intellectuals.

It's really disgusting.

However, Liu Che knew very well that as an emperor, he could use his own will to indirectly influence and interfere with the development of academic and ideological development, but he could not personally end up replacing the will of various schools of thought with his own will.

That would create a very bad start.

It will also obliterate the diversity of thought and scholarship.

To some extent, you may even become someone you hate and dislike.

Just like that story, the warrior worked hard to kill the evil dragon, but in the end, he turned into a new evil dragon.

Therefore, Liu Che smiled slightly, and then said: "There are different opinions in the history books. Why do you have to argue about the differences between the families? In my opinion, I am afraid that no matter what is recorded in "Lu's Spring and Autumn Annals",

Or the theory of "Han Feizi", its essence is the same, right?"

Of course it’s the same!

Dong Zhongshu came out to pay homage and said: "There is no wiser person than Your Majesty. The Analects of Confucius said: Ye Gong said to Confucius: There are people in our party who are straight and bowed. Their father is a sheep, and the son proves it. Confucius said: The straight people in our party are different from this.

, the father hides for the son, and the son hides for the father, it is always within it!”

This is the ultimate origin of this thousand-year public case, and the key to centuries of conflict between Confucianism and Legalism.

There is nothing remarkable about the case itself.

But because it involves the conflict between Confucianism and Legalism, which involves the mutual concealment of relatives, it has been a source of controversy for hundreds of years.

At that time, a large number of Confucian scholars entered the Qin Dynasty and were kicked out by the Legalists. This was the reason.

Different road non-phase plan.

Now that Dong Zhongshu has come to an end, Zhang Hui of course couldn't sit still. He moved his eyes slightly, and a Legalist doctor on his left immediately came out to pay homage: "Your Majesty, I have two thousand stones. Doctor Deng of "Han Feizi"

Yan please play..."

Liu Che turned around, saw this person, and said quickly: "Please speak to me!"

Although this Dr. Deng is unknown in history, there are many powerful people among his disciples.

Many Legalist officials in the early and middle periods of Emperor Wu came from his disciples.

The most famous one is Xianxuan.

Deng Yan paid his respects and said: "I think what Dong Zi said and what he did is great! Confucius thought that when the father hides for the son and the son hides for the father, it is straight. I dare to ask, where is the king of Chu? Where does the law of Chu care? Is it possible?

You said, for the sake of filial piety, you don’t even want to be loyal?”

He stared straight at Dong Zhongshu and said aggressively: "I dare to ask Dong Zi, if someone witnesses his father intending to bring trouble to the world and steal the country, what will this person do?"

This immediately left Dong Zhongshu speechless.

This is also the flaw in the theory of mutual concealment of relatives.

Of course, the most important thing is that Dong Zhongshu’s Gongyang sect doesn’t pay much attention to hiding from each other.

But because of Confucius, he had to fight with the Legalists.

Seeing this situation, a doctor from the Guliang sect immediately came out and replied: "Deng Zi, there is no need to quibble, and there is no need to taint my life like this!"

He bowed and said, "Your Majesty, I would like to ask Wang Yuan, a doctor from "Gu Liang Chun Qiu", to answer Deng Zi's question!"

After getting Liu Che's permission, he waved his long sleeve and said to Deng Yan: "If there is a son who witnesses his father's intention to bring trouble to the world and steal the country, he can restrain his father, close the door of his house, and stop his evil deeds...

If this is not the case, you can still kill your relatives out of righteousness! Confucius praised Guan Cai when Zhou Gong executed him. In the Spring and Autumn Period, he said: Your son was a thief who committed regicide, and the country was in great rebellion, so he must be punished. Therefore, he said: It is righteousness to kill his relatives!"

Shi Fen, a senior member of the Special Administrative Region, also came out to pay homage and said: "Your Majesty, my ancestors once taught me: When I hear that I love my son, I teach him righteousness. If he accepts evil, he is arrogant, extravagant and lustful. This is his own evil."

Well, this Shi Fen's ancestor is indeed the hero who killed relatives for justice in the Spring and Autumn Period...

So there is nothing wrong with him coming out to show off his face.

Deng Yan laughed happily and said: "What you say is great!" After saying that, he bowed to Dong Zhongshu, Shi Fen and Wang Yuan. Then, Tu Qiong saw him and asked: "If you are like Zeng Zi, when you meet his father

When someone steals a sheep and the owner of the suffering comes to look for it, how should you respond? Is it a matter of righteousness to kill relatives? Or is it like Confucius who concealed the crimes of his disciples and covered them up?"

This is the fundamental reason why the two schools of Confucianism and Legalism have been fighting each other over a small Zhigong case for hundreds of years - because this case has long been no longer in the details of the Zhigong case, or even in the Zhigong case.

It's on its own.

Because this is related to Confucius, Zengzi and Zengzi’s father.

This thing is like this.

About hundreds of years ago, during the Spring and Autumn Period, Confucius traveled around the country and came to a place called Yeyi.

The owner of Ye Yi is a scholar-bureaucrat named Ye Gong, who is also the protagonist of the idiom Ye Gong loves dragons.

This Ye Gong is naturally very rich. At least, he was one of the wealthy celebrities in the Spring and Autumn Period.

Confucius's master and disciples traveled all over the country and came to Yeyi, the territory of Chu State, and they were already extremely poor.

Before this, Confucius was even trapped between Chen and Cai. He was so embarrassed that his disciples stole sheep, roasted them and gave them to Confucius. Confucius ate them without asking where they came from. His disciples stole clothes, and Confucius also didn't ask where they came from.

, take it and wear it.

After arriving at Yeyi, Confucius and his disciples were not so embarrassed.

But it's not much better.

So, one day, a sheep ran into the yard of Zengzi's father Zeng. Naturally, the poor sheep was disemboweled and sacrificed to the Five Internal Organs Temple.

But unfortunately, Lord Ye knew about this and came to find Confucius.

Mr. Ye is a man who cares about face, so of course it is not easy to directly question: "You stole my sheep, please give me an explanation."

He went around in circles and said to Confucius: "We have a man named Zhi Gong here. His father stole a sheep, so he reported his father..."

Confucius naturally knew about this through Zengzi (Zeng Shen). Similarly, Confucius was also a shameless person. How could he let his disciples become thieves (in that case, wouldn't he become the master of thieves?), so he argued: "

This is not the case among us. The father hides his son's faults, and the son helps his father cover up his faults. This is true frankness and the conduct of a gentleman!"

Anyway, this is the story.

Everything was just a dispute over face under the special circumstances at that time.

But today, hundreds of years later, this matter has become a major issue between Confucianism and Legalism.

It even became a focal point in the centuries-old war of words between Confucianism and Mohism.

Mo Zhai even satirized Confucius and said: If a husband is hungry for a contract, he will take it without hesitation to survive; if he wins a treasure, he will act falsely to cover himself up. Which one is greater than this?

It means that when you are hungry and destitute, you will not hesitate to take extravagant things to survive, and when you are full, you will use hypocrisy to whitewash and dress yourself up. Is there anyone in this world who is more shameless than a Confucian scholar?

By the way, Mo Zhai's attitude towards Confucius was the most disdainful among the sages of all schools of thought.

When Mr. Mo Zhai was alive, he directly called Confucius "Kong". He disdained this, and the disciples of Mohism naturally followed his example.

For example, Zengzi was called "Zeng Stealing Sheep" by Mohist disciples, Zigong and Zilu were called "Rainy tribute, thief Lu"...

All in all, none of the seventy-two sages of Confucianism are good in the eyes of the Mohists...

Oh, maybe Ran Qiu is a special case...

But that's it.

When I arrived at the Legalist School, I was much more polite because of Mr. Zixia.

But in terms of ideology, butt, and pursuits, they are completely different.

This is because Confucianism and Legalism pursue different ideals.

What Confucianism requires is to restore the rule of the Three Dynasties to bring order to Zhou Dynasty. It is best to resurrect Jingtian. In this way, Confucianism believes that the world will be free from chaos, war, and harsh government.

The people can live in peace with each other, and the world can be at peace.

But Legalists believe that this is a dream!

If the country is not strong and the army is not strong, it will be slaughtered.

To make the country strong and the army strong, it is necessary to enrich the country and strengthen the army. In order to enrich the country and strengthen the army, power must be centralized. Strict laws and sufficient material rewards must be used to motivate the people so that everyone will fight for the country and the emperor.

Under such circumstances, going straight to the case becomes particularly glaring.

For legalists, how dare anyone hide the crimes of criminals? This is simply intolerable and unacceptable!

Gotta fuck him!

Because the embankment of a thousand miles was destroyed in an ant nest, Legalists know very well that once someone can use the excuse that the father is hiding from the son, and the son is hiding from the father, then sooner or later, it will expand to the entire family, and then the clan.

In this way, the interests of the family and clan will override the interests of the country and the king, and the dignity of the law will be lost.

However, Confucians believe that father and son, monarch and minister, husband and wife are the core of everything and the unchanging truth.

If it is an ordinary minor crime, such as theft, robbery, having sex with a woman, or tax evasion, of course father and son, husband and wife, and brothers must shield and protect each other.

Unless this person is so insane that he wants to destroy the country and bring chaos to the world, he will never advocate or even oppose family members reporting the crimes of others.

In addition, this is also one of the foundations on which Confucian scholars stand.

Why do the landowning aristocrats in the south and Sanhe region support Confucianism?

Not only that, Confucianism advocates and respects big families and clans, and protects the interests of big families and clans.

But it's a pity...

Liu Che looked at these Confucian giants, these doctors, and these elites, and shook his head secretly.

The Han Dynasty and the Liu family hate big families and clans the most.

Because this will weaken the country's power, affect the country's tax revenue, corvee labor, and even the combat effectiveness of the army.

The reason is very simple. In addition to the oral and land tax, other taxes, corvee, and military service in the Han Dynasty were all levied based on the household registration.

The difference between a family of five and a family of ten means that the country's strength and financial resources are reduced by half.

In general, large families usually have dozens or even hundreds of people gathered together.

This means that big families and big clans are poaching the country to enrich themselves!

Therefore, the emperors of the Liu family in the past dynasties deeply hated the big families and clans, and tried every means to break them up.

In the political arena, they strongly advocate the ideal social model of "one man with five households and a hundred fields".

As for Liu Che specifically, he dislikes big families and clans even more.

In his eyes, every big family and clan is a hidden danger and a time bomb for the future.

I can't wait to tear them all down!
