The first thousand four hundred and eighty-fifth sections of the legalists' short board

If we talk about the most lively places in Chang'an City today, naturally the Taichang and Dahonglu Yamen located on the east side of Changle Palace and close to Xuanping Gate are the most popular ones. .The fastest updated

Last year, during the reconstruction of Chang'an City, the Shaofu carried out extensive construction work here and built a huge military camp and a residential area for military dependents.

The Yulin Guards and Huben Guards, who attracted worldwide attention, have their camps in Chang'an City here.

The entire military camp is very grand.

To the south is the camp of the Habayashi Guards, which has several large and small schools and a sprint field for breastplate training, which can fully meet the daily training of five hundred riders charging side by side.

Although the Hubenwei camp in the north is relatively small.

But in terms of the completeness of the facilities, it far exceeds that of Habayashi Wei's camp.

The Shaofu built many military facilities here, including arsenals and forts.

In particular, the arsenal of the Huben Guards is huge, not much weaker than the Chang'an arsenal outside the North Gate of Weiyang Palace.

It might even be a little stronger.

Because, in this arsenal, a total of 3,125 sets of Han army breastplates from the Battle of Mayi in the fourth year of Yuande are sealed.

These first-generation standard breastplates had design flaws that could easily injure the rider, especially when moving at high speeds.

In the Battle of Mayi, not a single Han cuirassier was killed by the enemy on the battlefield.

But after the battle, dozens of elite cavalry were seriously injured by their own armor, and more than ten of them died...

As for the other soldiers, almost all of them were injured.

After the war, more than 300 people retired due to injuries...

This shocked the entire Han family. Instead of falling to the enemy's sword battle, the soldiers were bruised and bruised by their own armor...

Craftsmen from the Mohist and Shaofu families gathered together to improve the unreasonableness of the Han army's breastplates, and thus launched a second generation breastplate that was more suitable for knights to fight.

Although this first generation has various flaws and problems.

But after all, it was a weapon of war that cost huge sums of money and countless manpower and material resources to create.

Complete destruction and recasting are obviously unreasonable.

Therefore, they were sealed, hidden deep in the armory of this arsenal, and hung neatly on the walls.

Every half month, professional armor maintenance and maintenance personnel will come here to clean the rust, oil and wipe them.

To ensure that the strongest armor built with these huge sums of money can maintain combat effectiveness as much as possible.

If something happens in the future, these armors can be pulled directly from the arsenal, and a powerful cuirassier can be immediately organized to suppress all monsters and monsters.

But at this time, the entire camp of Yulin Guard and Huben Guard was crowded with people inside and outside.

Countless candidates for examinations walked out of the camp in twos and threes. Looking at the blazing sunshine and the dense flow of people outside the camp, countless people invariably let out a deep breath.

"Finally the exam is over..." A Legalist scholar wearing a Xie Zhi hat lowered his head and sighed, somewhat afraid to return to this camp.

And his companions also let out a long sigh.

All of them are disciples of Legalism, and they are all brothers from the "Hedong Academy" of Legalism.

However, today's Legalist disciples have actually changed little compared to the past.

Over the years, the Legalists and the Huang-Lao School are the two schools that have changed the least among the hundreds of schools of thought in the Han Dynasty.

This is related to the tradition of Legalism itself.

In the past hundreds of years, Legalism and Confucianism have always adopted a dual-track system of inheritance. The system of passing down Confucian classics from family to disciples jointly supports the inheritance of their respective classics.

However, Confucianism suffered heavy losses during the wars at the end of Qin and the beginning of Han!

Most of the ancient books and classics, including the Spring and Autumn Annals, the Book of Songs, the Book of Songs, and the Book of Changes, have almost all been lost.

Even the Analects of Confucius only has fragments left.

Today, most classics in the world are actually missing or patchwork versions.

Therefore, after suffering a heavy blow, Confucianism learned from the pain. In the first ten years of the rise of the Han Dynasty, countless scholars abandoned their scholastic views and became widely accepted as disciples.

Fu Qiubo gave lectures in Chang'an, Gong Yangshou taught in Qi...

These sages, connecting the past and the following, laid the strongest foundation for the prosperity of Confucianism today.

For example, Fu Qiu Bo educated dozens of well-known scholars, including King Chu Yuan and his son, and Duke Lu Shen, while Gong Yangshou educated brothers Hu Wusheng and Dong Zhongshu.

On the other hand, Legalism also suffered blows and losses during the wars at the end of the Qin Dynasty, and many Legalist classics and works were lost.

However, relatively speaking, Legalism suffered far less losses than Confucianism during the war.

As soon as the Han Dynasty was established, Legalism was taken seriously.

When Xiao He was ordered by Liu Bang to compile the Han Code, he was not less influenced by Legalist thought.

In the entire Han code, to this day, the shadow of the Qin code can still be seen in general.

Compared with the Qin Code, many articles have not even been changed at all.

Therefore, in fact, even after the Qin Dynasty fell, the lives of Legalist officials and scholars were not difficult.

But in the early 20 or 30 years of the Han Dynasty, it was necessary to pretend to be a grandson and work as a handyman for the Huang Lao sect.

But Legalism has never left the political arena.

During the period of Empress Lu, the Legalists even made a counterattack.

Some cruel officials were even given the title of marquis by Empress Lu because they were very capable. (This matter was mentioned in the Historical Records and the Han Dynasty, but it was only mentioned in passing, without saying who they were? Why were they granted the title of marquis)

This is also the only record of a civil official becoming a marquis in the Han Dynasty so far.

However, this counterattack ended in tragedy.

The princes and ministers jointly punished Lu, not only arresting and executing them, but also putting almost all the nobles and ministers who were close to the Lu family under house arrest.

Pingyang Jing Hou Cao made a great contribution when he killed Zhu Lu. It was his informing and diverting attention that enabled Zhou Bo to lead his army to besiege Weiyang Palace.

But it was only because he expressed his objections when discussing the purge of the entire Lu family system.

Cao has since disappeared from the political arena.

As for the fate of those kittens, puppies, and Lu's minions, there is no need to think about it.

After this change, Legalism went dormant for twenty years again, until Chao Cuo appeared and made a comeback in the political arena.

To this day, the Legalists have completely controlled the power of Tingwei, Zhijinwu and Yushidafu Yamen, and have mastered the power of formulating, revising, adding, deleting, interpreting and executing laws.

It can be said that the scenery is unparalleled for a while, and even Confucianism seems to have to sing about external law and internal Confucianism, using Confucianism to disguise law.

But the Legalist giants and the Two Thousand Stones personally shattered this Confucian dream at the last Shiqu Pavilion meeting.

From the initial flirting to the falling out at the Shiqu Pavilion meeting.

The speed of change and the ruthlessness of the attack make it difficult for people to guard against it.

It is almost difficult for outsiders to understand what happened in the days before and after the Shiquge meeting? So much so that the Legalists would rather cooperate with the Mohists and bow to the Huang-Lao sect than to kill the Confucians who came from the same origin as themselves?

Naturally, only the Legalists themselves know this issue clearly.

At this moment, the faces of these Legalist disciples of Hedong Academy were filled with thick gloom.

The young man at the head looked with a complicated expression at the Confucian scholars not far away who were gathered together in twos and threes, talking and laughing, with relaxed expressions.

Teeth clenched.

"Those tricks!" Cursing in his mind, the young man said: "Go back and review the Arithmetic Book, Geometry Book, and Arithmetic Scripture for me..."

Hearing this, other people bowed one after another: "No!"

This young man's surname was Wang Cheng and his given name was Fengwen. He was about twenty-three or four years old. He had a strong body, sharp eyes, and looked extremely heroic.

His father is Wang Yuan, now a doctor of Qianshi "Shenzi".

Wang Yuan is the world's leading expert on "Shenzi".

The others were Wang Cheng's juniors and classmates who taught his father's profession together with him.

Hedong Academy, or Hedong Shenzi School, is an outlier among the hundreds of schools of thought in the Han Dynasty.

They admire and advocate power. In their eyes, spy politics is not only not a bad thing, but on the contrary, it is a good thing.

They firmly believe that the Holy King needs to supervise the ministers, the ministers supervise the bureaucrats, and the bureaucrats manage the people.

Only in this way can the world be at peace.

Therefore, this academy is actually the incubation ground for Xiuyiwei's future high-level bureaucrats and the training center for future spy leaders.

After all, agents with ideals and beliefs are much better than those glamorous and weird people outside.

However, no matter how unusual the Hedong Academy was, it was still a school of Legalism.

Doomed to suffer from the inherent stubborn problem of Legalism: bad mathematics.

In the first examination, Legalist scholars lost the most points in mathematics among all schools of thought.

For legalists, those who can answer six of the ten math questions in each round of each test correctly are considered talented players.

Among the Confucian scholars, those who answered the Six Paths correctly only passed the test...

There is no way around this. Human energy is always limited.

If you put your talent in one area a few times, it will naturally become a shortcoming in another area.

The legalist battlefield is always about punishment, not anything else.

This is destined for them not to put too much energy elsewhere.

For Legalist ministers, it is not unacceptable to be bad at mathematics.

As long as you know how to figure out what is best for you, and then enforce the law bravely and are willing to kill people, you will not be afraid of losing political achievements.

But the emergence of examinations broke this situation.

Since the first examination in the second year of the late emperor's reign, mathematics and geometry have always accounted for a particularly large proportion of the test questions in every examination over the years.

In some cases, there were even as many as fifteen arithmetic problems!

This forced all schools of thought to pay attention to arithmetic and geometry.

But the problem is...in terms of mathematics and geometry, Legalism is inherently deficient.

The disciples of Shang Jun who specialize in the "Teaching of the Earth's Power", the disciples of Shen Buhao who are full of power-minded ideas, and the piles of followers of Han Feizi have no energy at all to study and delve into mathematics and geometry.

After all, you can't ask a judge to know calculus, nor can you ask a jailer to understand equations.

To be fair, it would be great to be able to fully understand the Dharma Sutra and countless Legalist works.

However, this is the rule of the game. Legalists must adapt if they can, and if they cannot adapt, they must adapt!

They can only bite the bullet and study various mathematics books and works, but the results of doing so are naturally imaginable.

The annual arithmetic examination is torture and torture for Legalists.

But the disciples of Confucianism are like a fish in water.

Among Confucian disciples, there are endless numbers of mathematical geniuses and wizards.

It is even said that the Lord Commander, Gongsun Hong, could calculate the balance and expenses just by looking at the account book.

Not far away, the Confucian students who were gathering to discuss today's test questions seemed to have discovered Wang Cheng and others. They walked over with smiles, and a young man in the lead shouted to Wang Cheng: "Feng Wen

Brother, I heard that you didn’t do very well in the exam? Do you want me, the disciples from Dayang Academy, to give you some extra lessons?”

Confucianism and Legalism have been at odds since the last meeting at Shiqu Pavilion.

Not long ago, the legalist giants took the lead in attacking and criticizing Confucianism, directly challenging the fundamental and core concepts of Confucianism, which only added fuel to the fire of this relationship.

Today’s relationship between Confucianism and Legalism is simply extremely bad!

Not to mention the relationship between Gongyang, Guliang and the Legalist giants, but also between the various minor sects below, has deteriorated to the extreme.

The great debate between Confucianism and Legalism at the ideological and theoretical level has begun.

They had already become angry with each other.

So much so that even the Confucians and Mohists had quietly penetrated into the Hanzhong area and had no time to take care of it.

In order to concentrate their energy and strength to deal with the attacks of Legalists.

There is no way, the rise of the Mohist family is something in the future.

As for the threat of Legalism, this is the problem we must face now!

Wang Cheng glanced at those guys, laughed loudly, and said: "Without bothering you, you should go back and read the "Book of Laws" and read the book of Shang Jun... The exams tomorrow will be on criminal names and governance!

"

When these Confucian scholars heard this, their faces turned pale, and they were obviously hit hard.

The examination system has developed to this day and is very complete.

The entire examination is divided into three rounds.

The first round is a sieve, which will remove all those who do not meet the requirements or fail in their knowledge.

The remaining people will all be regarded as officials.

Since you are an official, what you have to test is naturally the basic skills of being an official and your understanding of various common sense.

Of course, it's still not too difficult.

However, the basic legal provisions and the legislative principles and judgment standards of Han Code are still required.

Otherwise, if you become an official but don’t even understand the law, let alone judgment, then it will definitely be the country that is embarrassed!

In addition, other mathematical skills, computing skills and basic common sense questions, the difference between weights and measures, national current affairs, and changes in the world situation are all required to be tested.

These exams are divided into four sections, namely arithmetic and geometry; criminal names, governance; current affairs, the world, and the last section, case analysis.

The group with the highest overall score will advance to the third round.

Those who can enter the third round are all the best in their respective schools, and they must also be the elites who have passed the second round of screening.

Their comprehensive capabilities must be stronger than other competitors.

Of course, under the current circumstances, because of the two thousand stones, the princes, princes, nephews of senior ministers, loyal ministers and righteous men will enjoy preferential treatment and extra points.

Therefore, there are also many characters who are not actually very capable, but can still travel three rounds.

But such people are not competitors.

Because, they usually just come here to get gold plating and get their reputation. (To be continued.)
