Section 552 Decoy

Lord Sima Ji has always been a dragon, and he often takes his disciples and boys around the world.∈↗,

After Liu Che came to the throne, he sent envoys many times to find this giant in the Han Dynasty's magic stick world.

Of course, it's just for show.

Lord Sima Ji is one of the few people in the world who really does not want to be an official.

When Taizong was in power, he conquered Lord Sima Ji many times.

But people just want to live their lives freely and do not want to get involved in the muddy waters of politics.

Therefore, every offer of courtesy was rejected.

But the look still needs to be done.

Such tricks as "courtesy of virtuous officials" and "desire for virtuous people as much as possible" were a high-sounding show by later generations of the Mongolian, Yuan and Manchu dynasties.

Therefore, after Liu Che ascended the throne, he sent out envoys as usual to recruit celebrities from various factions who were well-known in the world. Naturally, Lord Sima Ji was also among them.

The price is also very high.

All of them were treated with a thousand dan or even two thousand dan.

It’s just the positions, all of them are doctors... (This was invented by Liu Che. Compared with before, the official position of doctor has become hierarchical, with three levels: eight hundred stones, one thousand stones, and two thousand stones)

Contrary to the imagination of later generations, in the early Han Dynasty, when celebrities were recruited, they generally did not directly appoint officials with real power.

At the beginning, Empress Lu invited the world-famous celebrity "Shangshan Sihao" to escort Liu Ying as the crown prince. The price given was nothing more than the so-called guest minister Lu Ze of Jiancheng Hou. Although the financial treatment was comparable to that of a prince, but

However, the positions were not even assigned...

When recruiting celebrities, it was Taizong who really gave the organization and status.

But that's just a doctorate.

Although the position and salary are relatively high.

But there is no real power at all.

When the emperor was happy or interested, he would go to the bus station or summon the doctors to accompany him and talk about scriptures.

In addition, it is almost impossible for doctoral officers to interfere in government affairs and influence the political situation.

Looking through the history books, before Xiaozhu, no one could really convert fame into power.

Even the Legalist tycoon Zhang Hui, who educated a capable Legalist minister like Chao Cuo, once had two generations of Chu kings, four Jiuqing, and dozens of Dukes of Fuqiu with two thousand stones under his sect, he never relied on his reputation.

What official positions have you held?

At most, the rulers will respect them very much.

But want real power?

No need to talk!

Liu Che thinks this policy is very good.

Those who are pragmatic and engaged in theory should go for retreat and engage in theory!

If you run out to become an official, you are harming others and yourself.

Of course, if you really want to be an official, it's not impossible.

If you are willing to work from the grassroots level, Liu Che welcomes you with both hands.

But, this is impossible.

Facts have proved that Liu Che's reforms were very successful.

Many giants who were "unwilling to give up for five buckets of rice" in the past fell under the sugar-coated bullets of Dr. Two Thousand Stones this time. They obediently followed the envoys to Chang'an and served as doctorate officers ranging from one thousand to two thousand stone.

Although they soon discovered that except for the change in level, everything was completely different. They could not even participate in the Chang Dynasty, and could only gain a sense of presence in the Synodic Dynasty.

The various yamen of Jiuqing and the Shangshu of Shaofu Lantai held a closed-door meeting. They didn't even say hello to the results and the content of the discussion.

But, as a literati, that's just the way it is, as long as you're satisfied with your face.

Many people are delighted with the title of Two Thousand Stones. They are even more delighted with the color of their ribbons and official seals.

Of course, in line with the principle of maximizing resource utilization, Liu Che recently began to mobilize among the doctors, encouraging them to serve as priests, bishops, and educate young students in the soon-to-be-established Imperial Academy of Taixue and Han Dynasty.

The effect is not bad.

It's just that there are always some outliers or experts in the world who are truly indifferent to fame and wealth.

Master Sima Ji is one of them.

Although Liu Che directly offered a price of 2,000 dan for a doctorate in the Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic and the Tao Te Ching, he was still not impressed.

Well, if you don’t want to be a bird, then you won’t be a bird.

Liu Che didn't pay much attention to it at that time.

But after Liu Che investigated Xu Fu's affairs, Liu Che began to pay attention to Sima Ji's role.

Because Liu Che discovered that the religious world of the Han Dynasty, or the world of divine sticks, was more chaotic and disordered than he imagined.

Although in his previous life, Liu Che had heard a joke.

The joke goes like this.

One time, the emperor (Little Pig) held a party and summoned all the famous celebrities in Chang'an City at that time. He asked these magicians whether they could have concubines one day.

The Five Elements Master said, yes.

Kanyu experts thought that there was something wrong with that day and suggested that it be rescheduled.

The person who built the house said that this day was unlucky.

Cong Chen's family thought it was a big disaster.

Li Jia said weakly that there was some misfortune on this day.

Heavenly people think it is quite auspicious.

The Tai family is trying their best to support the good fortune on this day. (Note)

In other words, faced with the same problem, the magicians can use their brains.

Even several factions that share the same view of auspiciousness and unluckyness have completely different attitudes and stances from each other.

After Liu Che came to the throne, Xiuyiwei investigated and found that the chaos in the entire religious world was more disordered than he imagined.

And with the further development of social economy, disputes between different factions even began to be resorted to force.

It's very common for people to mess with each other.

In order to compete for customers and the right to speak, various factions often stage violence, smashing and even destruction.

For Liu Che, this was simply unacceptable.

He came from two thousand years later, an era when even the reincarnation of a Living Buddha required the approval of the people's government.

For Liu Che, it is natural for the magicians to accept government management and engage in designated activities in designated places.

Although the conditions are not yet feasible.

However, it is not in Liu Che's interest to let the magicians run around aimlessly without any organization.

The emperor himself is the unity of politics and religion. He is ordered by heaven to manage all the beasts, ghosts, snakes, gods, immortals, demons, humans and ghosts.

Except for the illusory God, all other existences must obey the imperial power.

Therefore, recently, Liu Che has stepped up his efforts to find Lord Sima Ji and invite Li Ping.

It is hoped that with the help of Lord Sima Ji's fame and prestige, the currently chaotic world of magic sticks can be integrated.

At least we can no longer have the embarrassing situation of various factions talking to each other and contradicting each other.

However, it is still a bit difficult to get Lord Sima Ji to obey his orders.

At that time, Jia Yi was spat on by this person, and he "suddenly lost himself, his light was colorless, and he was so sad that he couldn't speak." He could only "get up with his clothes, bow and say goodbye" and never dared to visit his door again.

It can be seen that Master Sima Ji will not be willing to take the bait without a price that is enough to make him excited.

Moreover, this price has nothing to do with official position or status.

Sima Jizhu himself also said, "Qi Ji does not flock with the donkeys, phoenixes do not flock with the sparrows, and wise men do not rank with the unworthy." The so-called "a gentleman lives in humility to avoid the crowd, and hides himself to avoid others."

In his opinion, he didn't even bother to hang out with a group of people who were just trying to live in peace.

Even if I give him a chancellor, I won’t be happy!

Fortunately, the Han Dynasty did have such an ideal world.

The Taishi Ling Yamen is directly under the management of the royal family and takes orders directly from the emperor. It is not subject to interference from foreign dynasties and will not interact with scholar-bureaucrats and bureaucrats from foreign dynasties.

Coincidentally, the Taishi Ling Yamen is currently in charge of the Taishi Company, Ma Qian's father.

Both the style of study and the atmosphere fit the requirements of Sima Jizhu. They are all fellow-minded people who are indifferent to fame and fortune and immersed in the ocean of history and classics.

Therefore, Liu Che offered the position of Taishi Lingcheng to seduce Lord Sima Ji.

Fearing that he would refuse, Liu Che specially asked the envoy to bring a sentence: I want to rebuild the calendar, clearly calculate the stars of the sky and earth, compare and discuss their actions, and test the orbit. Then compile the "Almanac" into "Tianguan Shu" and "Fengchan Shu".

》, in order to carry forward the unique knowledge of the past saints and open up a new path for future generations. Those who heard about it in this world will spread their wisdom to the world. I would like to use my appearance to pay homage to you and prove the great event. The next day, your fame will last for a hundred generations and your legacy will last for thousands of years. I am waiting for you.

Ren Ye! (Note 2)

The almanac, recalculating the years, months, days and changes in the four seasons, is not only a major event in the academic and scientific circles, but also a major event in the religious and divine circles, involving orthodoxy and the right to speak. As for the Tianguan Shu, you can tell just by looking at the name.

It is about focusing on setting the names of immortals and gods and the changes in the stars. As for the Book of Fengchan, it is to trace and record the three generations of emperors Taishan Fengchan and the response and praise of "Heaven" to their acts of Fengchan. This is an even more remarkable thing.

With this price tag, Liu Che couldn't believe it. How could Lord Sima Ji still sit still?

No matter how indifferent to fame and fortune you are, and disdainful of being an official, you must obediently contribute to my great cause! (To be continued...)

ps: Note 1: This story comes from Mr. Chu’s own account, which is what the continuation writer of the Historical Records told about something he witnessed with his own eyes in what should be considered a sequel or a PS.

It is indeed funny, but it reflects the chaos and disorder in the world of magic sticks in the early and middle Western Han Dynasty.

The ending of this story is that the parties are still arguing, the mediation is ineffective, and the lawsuit goes directly to Emperor Wu. Finally, Emperor Wu personally goes to the court and makes a ruling: avoid death taboos and focus on the Five Elements, ending the dispute.

But it also led to the rise of the Five Elements School.

Now, we can hardly see the theories of other magic sticks who competed with the Five Elements at that time.

But if you can argue with the Five Elements Theory, even if it is a strong argument, I think there is some truth to it.

Note 2: In the preface of Taishi Gong's autobiography, Taishi Gong said that among the reasons why he wrote the "Book of Heavenly Officials" was "Compared with Ji to discuss his actions, it is second to the orbital degree". It can be seen that in the Han Dynasty, the orbital thing has been

Become common knowledge in heaven.
