Five hundred and fifty-six changes in Confucianism (1)

Confucianism is indeed worried about the revival of Mohism.

The grievances between Confucianism and Mohism can no longer be described by just two words: contradiction.

The difference between Confucianism and Mohism is higher than the sky and deeper than the sea.

They are almost completely two opposite paths.

Confucianism says, "Respect ghosts and gods and keep away from them." Mohism advocates "mingling ghosts" and acknowledging the existence of ghosts and gods.

Confucianism talks about destiny, while Mohism talks about undestined destiny.

Confucianism unites the upper class, while Mohism focuses on the lower class.

Confucian celebrities lamented that harsh government is as fierce as a tiger and violently criticized the rulers.

Mohists of Mohism go deep into the grassroots and practice their own way.

Confucians and Mohists looked at each other and felt that the other was a heretic, evil, and an enemy of the Tao.

The two have fought for hundreds of years.

Both sides knew very well what would happen to them if the other came to power. When Mencius was in Qi State, he would not even spare the peasants, and wanted to kill them all, expel them all, and exclude them.

When Confucian scholars went to Qin, they were no better off.

In the past, Confucianism was becoming more and more powerful in the Han Dynasty, while Mohism was in decline, its number was getting smaller and smaller day by day, and it was even less favored by the government and the court.

Han Dynasty bureaucrats have always looked at the Mohists through colored glasses.

Under such circumstances, Confucianism almost forgot about Mohism, its mortal enemy.

But in the past two years, the Mohist family has begun to resurrect in Guanzhong.

They have the emperor's support and official recognition!

For Confucians, this is simply a bolt from the blue!

Countless people instantly recalled the tragic past when Mohism was in its heyday and Confucianism was defeated.

Confucianism, of course, will not sit still and wait for death.

We will not just sit back and watch Mohism recover or even return to its heyday, an era when scholars all over the world were either Confucian or Mohist.

"We must think deeply and review our strategies..." In Lu Di, several scholars wearing Confucian crowns gathered together to discuss.

When the news of the Mohist revival in Guanzhong reached Lu, even this stronghold of the conservative Confucian forces immediately had an impact like an atomic bomb.

No Confucian scholar will forget that back then, they held their necks and stood face to face with Qin Shihuang. What happened in the end!

As a result of the saying "the ancients are no longer the same as today", many seniors have died because of this.

Of course, the Confucians themselves would never mention the fact that countless Confucian students ran to Xianyang to hug the First Emperor's lap.

This is just like the Jews of later generations who will never mention the good deeds they have done. They will only insist that it was not me who was wrong, but him!

From another perspective, Confucianism is indeed the most adaptable school among all schools of thought.

Even Bao Qin, whom they themselves despised, knelt down and licked him without any scruples.

Even among the Confucian scholars from Lu, there were many of Qin Shihuang’s Ph.D. II’s attendants back then!

Therefore, when the news of the revival of the Mohist school came, perhaps the ideas of the older generation of Lu and Confucians were deeply ingrained and could not be changed.

However, the Qingzhuang Sect immediately woke up as if someone had whipped them.

Everyone knows it.

If Confucianism does not rise up, if the Mohist family becomes powerful, the Mohist family will not even need to govern at all, as long as the Mohist family can restore half of its prestige at its peak.

The good days of Confucianism are coming to an end.

Mohism, which is deeply rooted in the bottom of society, has the ability to drive out Confucianism, or even completely eliminate it.

Huang Lao, Legalism is powerful, and Confucianism still has a place to survive.

If the Mohist school were strong, there would probably be no place for the Confucian school to gain a foothold in the world.

Many people's sense of distress suddenly spreads.

"Today's people like to work hard but not write articles. They value profits but false righteousness. They talk about advocating the ancients but actually follow the modern. Since he came to the throne, all the edicts and three edicts must have the sentence "Jia and the scholar-bureaucrats are new"..." One person

Said: "If we want to make achievements, we must start from this aspect and welcome what is good for us!"

Others nodded.

Confucian sects are never unfamiliar with this matter of changing schools, but are extremely skilled in it.

Zhong Ni’s lesson can be understood from countless different directions.

If that doesn't work, you can still learn from Zhou Gong's theory!

"I corresponded with Sima Xiangru of Shu County and asked him about his current preferences. He said: When your Majesty wants to conquer the Qin Dynasty, he will conquer the Three Yues, attack the Xiongnu, and conquer the southwest. We may start from there!" Another person said.

Doing what the ruler wants and breathing and shouting with the ruler has always been the only way for Confucianism to survive and grow.

That is to say.

In fact, what Confucian thought is is completely determined by the ruling class in power.

If you want to expand, Confucianism can immediately find out for you the theory and basis for China's domination of the world, which is a sacred cause decided by heaven and granted by the gods, and it can also form a whole set of ideological systems in an instant.

If you want to shrink, they can immediately explain the importance of necessary concessions from 365 angles.

Even when the Yi and Di took over and China changed its color, they were able to find the reason and basis.

Of course, Confucianism itself is doing all of this for its own benefit.

So, someone immediately said: "In the past during the Warring States Period, Chu once occupied the southwest. During the time of Wu and Yue, Sanyue also belonged to China!"

"As for attacking the Xiongnu from the north, it would be a shame to defeat them in vain, and avenging Empress Lu is even more natural!" The man said impassionedly: "Don't you hear: Duke Xiang's revenge for the ninth generation will be great in the Spring and Autumn Period!"

Even the most conservative and ancient Lu Ru began to think about change, thinking about changing his tone and face.

In the heart of China, Luoyang is the thoroughfare to the world.

The Confucian reaction here was even more intense.

Because, they not only saw the revival of the Mohist family.

We also saw the rise of the Legalists and the strength of the martial arts.

The governor of Henan County, Zhidu, has killed hundreds of powerful landlords and bureaucrats since he took office last year.

Zhang Tang, the new governor of Nanyang County, went on a killing spree as soon as he took office. The whole county kept silent, did not pick up lost items on the road, and did not close doors at night. His outstanding political achievements were well-known all over the world.

Even Wang Wenshu, a small Legalist official from Chang'an, took the Emperor's Festival and wiped out the powerful Ren family of Xuanqu, which had been flourishing for decades.

Although the Ren family has not yet been convicted, everyone knows that this Ren family may not be able to pass the threshold this time.

The disciples of Confucianism in Luoyang were basically the children of landlords, officials and wealthy businessmen.

They watched all this with fear, and dreamed every day of being dragged away by wolf-like and tiger-like officials.

The fear in my heart accumulates and expands day after day.

Fear of Legalism, worry about the revival of Mohism, and anxiety about the future.

As a result, Confucian scholars here are experiencing the most intense, violent and powerful changes since the Qin Dynasty.

A small internal faction of Confucian scholars that was only an insignificant one last year, with no more than ten members in total, quickly stood out in this change. Within ten months, this faction that used to belong to an internal learning mutual aid group at best,

It is also a non-mainstream mutual aid group and has quickly become a rising political star in Luoyang City.

In just half a month, this small school has expanded dozens of times.

The members have gone from being counted on ten fingers to a large faction with hundreds of people participating, hundreds of people identifying with it, and being pursued and funded by countless families. (To be continued)
