Chapter Thirty-Three Floating Like a Dream

Around evening, a group of people finally arrived at Jiangling Town, just in time to catch up with the "night market" when it was busy.

Along the street are vendors selling various snacks, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and various meats.

The scholars wearing green shirts and holding fans, chatting and laughing leisurely in twos and threes, are a beautiful sight on the street.

Shen Xingwan swallowed hard, it was indeed a beautiful sight.

Mrs. Zhang looked at her lovingly and said, "Whatever you want to eat Wan Wan, Mom will buy it for you."

Although her life has been very difficult, Mrs. Zhang has always been generous to her children.

Shen Xingwan smiled sheepishly, "Mom, I'm not hungry, so let's go to the new house first."

Fat Meow glared at Shen Xingwan with disdain, "You are a bit promising, okay?"

"It is human nature to look at beauty. Sister, I have always controlled my appearance." Shen Xingwan said confidently.

A group of them followed the bullock cart through the lively market and headed south. Gradually, there were fewer pedestrians on the road and the streets became quieter.

"Mom, where are we going?" Shen Xingwan couldn't help but ask.

After hearing this, Shen Yu said calmly, "Although Jiangling Town is a small town, it is backed by Jiangnan and has a dock, so it is considered wealthy."

Shen Xingwan instantly opened his eyes and became energetic. It was time to understand the market.

"In Jiangling Town, Chengbei is considered the most important place, and the people who live there are all high-ranking officials. Chengdong is considered the clean stream, and most of the people who live here are scholars." Shen Ling continued. This was when he came to buy a house with Shen Tang, and the middleman Yabao introduced.

Shen Xingwan listened with a serious look on his face. His family could not afford these two things, and he did not have the money to buy houses in these two places.

"We are going to the south of the city now. This area has just emerged in the past two years. It is inhabited by families who have a small amount of money and are doing small businesses."

"It doesn't mean it's particularly good, nor does it mean it's particularly bad." Shen Xingwan concluded.

Shen Yu said without sincerity, "My sister is really smart."

Shen Xingwan couldn't help but yell at him, grabbed the corner of his clothes and said coquettishly, "Brother, please teach me how to read."

Shen Xingwan, who grew up under the red flag, had the words "read more" flowing in his blood.

"Okay." Shen Yu agreed happily.

Mrs. Zhang looked pleased as she watched the interaction between the brother and sister. Sure enough, it was right to separate the family, otherwise she would have been trapped in the Shen family's one-third of an acre of land.

Zhou looked at Erya, whose face was red with excitement, and reflected, "In the past, we were too tolerant due to filial piety. We should have resisted earlier."

Since she went "crazy" and divorced, she doesn't want to be too happy every day. Even if she is poor or tired, she is still happy mentally.

The two sisters were quietly looking forward to the future. Shen Xiaoguo, who had already arrived at the door of the house, couldn't wait to jump off the bullock cart and waved to everyone in the night, "Mom, we've arrived at our new home. Come quickly!"

Erya rushed over like a whirlwind, and everyone quickened their pace.

Shen Xingwan walked to the yard where the bullock carts were parked, and subconsciously looked up at the sign above, "Life is like a dream."

The first thing that caught his eye was the small two-story building. One look at this layout and he knew that it was a business shop. What was it selling? Shen Xingwan began to guess secretly.

Shen Tang opened the corner door on the side of the yard, "Everyone, please unload the things from the oxcart and enter from here."

Shen Xingwan held her own clothes and took Banxia slowly and leisurely into the small courtyard of her new home.

There is a large courtyard connected to the back of the two-story shop outside. There are several rooms around the courtyard. There is nothing in the courtyard except a few bare trees.

The second entrance is the main living area, with wing rooms, main room, guest room, penthouse and living room.

With this layout, Shen Xingwan felt that twelve taels of silver a year was not expensive at all, and his father had spent a lot of money on it.

Mrs. Zhou took a look at the layout of the room and said, "It will be fine for our mother to live in the wing room."

Mrs. Zhang was a cheerful person and was not polite to her. She pointed to the two rooms next to each other and said, "You have one room, and I'll let you and I have one."

Mrs. Zhou smiled and nodded, "This is a good arrangement."

She knew as soon as she saw this house that three taels of silver a year was definitely too little. She would be uneasy if they were given the best accommodation. This arrangement was the best now.

"Mom and dad live in the main room." Shen Yu said, "The sun is better in the west wing, so I'll let Wanwan stay there, and Xiaoguo will live in the east wing with me."

Shen Xingwan was not polite and said with a smile, "Thank you, brother."

Then he led Banxia to the west wing. Banxia looked at the house and was also happy, "Miss, it's great to have a new home."

Shen Xingwan pushed open the door of the west wing. First there was a small study room. Although there was nothing in it, it didn't matter. Furniture could be added slowly.

Walking inside is the living room and bedroom. The area is quite spacious, but unfortunately there is nothing except a bed.

For such a big house and the rent, it is expected that there will be no furniture.

"This is too idle." Banxia was dumbfounded.

Shen Xingwan put his things on the bed very satisfied, "It's much better than a thatched house anyway."

"That's true." Banxia nodded, now he couldn't compare with when he was in the Hou Mansion.

After staying with Shen Xingwan in the countryside for so many days, Banxia also knew that the Shen family and his wife were already quite impressive if they could live in such a house.

Shen Tang led several children to tidy up the kitchen hall and clean up.

When Mrs. Zhang and Mrs. Zhou make their beds, they always have to clear out the place where they will sleep tonight.

Fortunately, the weather is no longer cold, and I can basically cope with it by wearing a thin quilt, otherwise I wouldn't even have a place to sleep tonight.

Looking at his new home with nothing, Shen Xingwan couldn't help but sigh, "The revolution has not yet succeeded, comrades still need to work hard."

The primary goal now is to build a career and make money!

By the time everything was done, it was getting dark.

After a tiring day, everyone was hungry. Mrs. Zhou looked at the kitchen and said, "There is no rice or vegetables. We can't cook tonight."

Shen Tang walked out and said, "My first meal after moving in. There is a good wonton shop in the small market in the south of the city not far from here."

"Eating wontons!" Shen Xiaoguo, being a foodie, was quite happy.

"Isn't this... too expensive?" Ms. Zhou hesitated.

Mr. Zhang patted the dust on his body and said, "Just think of it as a celebration. It's the first day of moving. You won't get rich if you save this. You'll just have to work hard to make money later."

In Zhang's opinion, it is much easier to make money in the town than at home.

Although she had been with the Shen family all these years, picking tea in the tea gardens in the spring and working part-time in the town in the winter, because she had to hand over most of the money, even though Mrs. Shen felt unhappy, she tolerated it for the sake of the money.

These experiences have also accumulated experience for Zhang, and she is not an ignorant person.

"What Mom said is so good." Shen Xingwan praised sweetly.

She felt more and more that although the Shen family had a poor starting point compared to the Hou Mansion, the Shen and Tang couples were really a treasure, far exceeding her expectations.
