Chapter Seven: Marriage

Unlike the busy Zhou family, the Lu family is a little too quiet. In the study on the second floor, Lu Zhixi is sitting upright and writing homework.

Beside him, Mrs. Lu's eyes have been focused on his notebook, as if she was waiting for something.

After finishing the homework exercises, Lu Zhixi closed it and put it aside. Mrs. Lu quickly picked it up, turned it over and checked it carefully. After a while, she sighed with disappointment and put it back in its original place.

Mrs. Lu's eyes returned to Lu Zhixi, and Lu Zhixi paused as she happened to think of something.

Mrs. Lu was sensitively aware of this moment of pause, immediately became energetic, and coughed a very motherly question.

"Xixi, is there anything you don't know about that you want to ask mom?"

Lu Zhixi raised his eyes, frowned and looked at the excited Mrs. Lu, feeling a little helpless: "Mom, I'm just thinking about something. These are very simple kindergarten questions. I'm not an idiot, how could I not write them."

Mrs. Lu regretfully looked away and muttered: "Why can't you give me a sense of accomplishment?"

Lu Zhixi failed to respond to this question, and Mrs. Lu sighed and muttered.

"When I was pregnant, people said that the most troublesome thing for a mother is homework tutoring. I went out of my way to ask a lot of people for help, and even signed up for a good mother class. Alas..."

Lu Zhixi did not respond to Mrs. Lu's nonsense. He lowered his head and continued to do his homework. The homework in the first class was not challenging for him. If he finished it early, he could read some books that he was interested in.

Mrs. Lu muttered a few words and got no response, so it was boring. After persisting for a few more minutes, she felt bored and took out her phone to read a novel.

The study became quiet, and Lu Zhixi secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

The harmonious atmosphere continued until there was a knock on the door. Lu Zhixi raised his head: "Please come in."

The mother and son both turned to look over at the same time. The person coming was the housekeeper. Normally, the housekeeper would not enter the study to disturb Lu Zhixi's homework.

"Madam, young master, the young lady of the Zhou family is here."

"My future daughter-in-law?" Mrs. Lu suddenly became energetic. Compared with her son, who is as serious and boring as her husband, the glutinous rice dumplings next door are more popular with Mrs. Lu.

She just talks softly and sweetly, and she still talks like an aunt.

Lu Zhixi also put down his homework: "Porridge?"

"Let Zhou Zhou come in quickly. Could it be that this child has been wronged at home again?"

Mrs. Lu snorted. She had always looked down on Liao Wen for going crazy for a man and making children feel pitiful.

Zhou Zhou's little head poked out from behind the housekeeper, and Mrs. Lu immediately stopped talking.

Lu Zhixi's eyes instantly softened, much softer than when he saw his biological mother, Mrs. Lu. Mrs. Lu clicked her tongue twice and didn't care.

"Did Zhou Zhou come to play with me?" Lu Zhixi asked gently,

"Well, hello brother Xixi, hello Aunt Lu." Zhou Zhou nodded obediently: "Can I play with brother Xixi for a while?"

"Of course." Without Lu Zhixi speaking, Mrs. Lu nodded directly: Lu Zhixi plays with his sister.

"Yeah." Lu Zhixi then responded, asking Mrs. Lu to give instructions for playing with Zhou Zhou.

Mrs. Lu was afraid that the little girl would be shy, so she also planned to leave space for her two children.

The study door was closed, and Zhou Zhou climbed onto the chair on tiptoes, his short legs dangling in the air.

The study room is very large. Except for the desk where Lu Zhixi writes, there are bookshelves full of books. Two of the bookshelves are occupied by Lu Zhixi.

Lu Zhixi pointed to the corner of his bookshelf. The cheerful colors of pink, green and blue were somewhat conspicuous in the bookshelf.

"Zhou Zhou still wants to read the storybook from last time?"

"No." Zhou Zhou wrinkled his nose and shook his little head quickly, and his eyes fell on the homework book in front of Lu Zhixi: "Brother Xixi needs to do his homework quickly. I'll wait for brother Xixi."

Lu Zhixi thought for a moment and was about to look away when he saw something dog and suddenly paused.

Lu Zhixi's face was dark, and he landed on Zhou Porridge's arm: "Aunt Liao lost her temper again today?"

The purple scars were shocking.

"Yeah." Zhou Zhou responded in a dull voice, and couldn't help but sniff after speaking. Lu Zhixi was the first to notice that she was injured.

Lu Zhixi didn't ask any more questions and got down from the chair: "Come here Zhou Zhou, I'll apply medicine to you."

Zhou Zhou was also sensitive to the fact that Lu Zhixi was unhappy. Every time she was accidentally hurt by Liao Wen, she would be very unhappy.

There is a medical kit in the study room of the Lu family. Lu Zhixi has always kept it since he knew that Liao Wen occasionally got sick and accidentally injured Zhou Zhou.

Lu Zhixi lowered his eyes and carefully applied medicine to Zhou Zhou, his long eyelashes covering the emotions in his eyes.

"Does it hurt?"

Zhou Zhou shook his head: "It doesn't hurt very much."

Zhou Zhou didn't lie. Although his pale purple arms, as white as lotus roots, looked scary, it was just because Zhou Zhou's skin was so tender that he didn't feel much pain after it started to hurt. Moreover, after applying the medicine, he only felt cold and whooshing.

Lu Zhixi didn't believe Zhou Zhou's words.

Liao Wen was Zhou Zhou's mother and he couldn't blame her for being sick, he could only express his displeasure with a straight face.

"When will Uncle Zhou come back?"

"I don't know, dad has been on a business trip for a long time." Zhou Zhou also muttered.

"Yeah." If Zhou Heng and Liao Wen went crazy at home, Zhou Heng would put it in front of Zhou Zhou, and Liao Wen would not hurt Zhou Zhou.

"Zhou Zhou, why don't you come to my house after school before Uncle Zhou comes back?"

That would save Liao Wen from going crazy and accidentally injuring Zhou Porridge.

Zhou Zhou thought of the scene where Liao Wen was waiting for her on the sofa today, although Liao Wen was largely waiting for news from Ji Yangyang.

Zhou Zhou didn't know what Liao Wen would do if he couldn't wait for her to come back, whether he would be furious or whether he would get sick.

Zhou Zhou's little face was full of tangles: "I have to go home and say hello to my mother before I can come."

"I'll go back with you, and then you come to my house to play with me. I'll read you storybooks, and my mother can make you little cakes to eat."

Zhou Zhou hesitated for a few seconds and nodded heartily: "Okay."

Anyway, no one at home would notice Zhou Zhou except Liao Wen when he was asleep.

At Zhou Zhou's urging, Lu Zhixi returned to the desk and sped up the speed at which he was writing his homework. He finished it in about ten minutes just sitting down.

"Which story are you reading today?"

After Lu Zhixi packed up his books, he now stood in front of several books on the bookcase with gaudy covers.

"I also want to hear the story of Snow White today."

Maybe it’s because little girls like princesses. Zhou Zhou liked the story of Snow White very much and wanted to hear it every few days.

Lu Zhixi wasn't impatient either. He took down the book before summer vacation and the two of them sat on the sofa against the wall and started telling stories.

Lu Zhixi's voice is light and a bit immature due to his age. He is very serious about the story he has read more than ten times, without any impatience.

This is probably the reason why Zhou Zhou likes Lu Zhixi. Apart from Zhou Heng, only Lu Zhixi is willing to tell her childish and cute stories.

And Zhou Heng didn't spend much time with her. Because of Liao Wen's condition, most of Zhou Heng's energy was used to deal with Liao Wen.

Zhou Porridge hugged the little rabbit and listened very seriously. Finally, he murmured in retrospect: "Snow White must be very beautiful."

Lu Zhixi had finished reading the storybook, closed it, and said seriously: "Porridge is also very beautiful."

Snow White, with jet-black hair and snow-white skin... Lu Zhixi fell on the face of Zhou Zhi, who was opposite and looked confused.

Well, it looks just as good.

It was night, and Mrs. Lu was heating milk in the kitchen when the sound of slipper footsteps came from behind.

"Mom, there is something I need to discuss with someone." Lu Zhixi's tone was somewhat serious.

Mrs. Lu was surprised. She knew that her son was born basically like his father, cold and lonely, and overly independent.

The sun is out in the west today, but the word "discuss" is actually used?

Mrs. Lu raised her eyebrows a little curiously: "Say yes?"

"Mom, can I marry Congee as soon as possible?" Lu Zhixi's tone was particularly serious.

Mrs. Lu was stunned for a moment, and then she couldn't help but laugh: "How old are you at Congee? You want to kidnap someone else's daughter. If Zhou Heng finds out, I'm afraid he will pick you up and beat you."

Mrs. Lu didn't take Lu Zhixi's words to heart. Two carrots didn't know what marriage was.

"Mom..." Lu Zhixi still wanted to argue.

Mrs. Lu interrupted him directly: "Furthermore, our country's law stipulates the age for marriage. Do you think you will meet it?"

Lu Zhixi paused and frowned: "I was negligent. I'll check the marriage law."

After saying that, without waiting for Mrs. Lu to continue, Lu Zhixi turned around and went upstairs into the study.

"Good guy, is this brat really serious?" Mrs. Lu muttered after suppressing her laughter.
