Volume 1 The Beginning Chapter 2. The Library in the Moonlight
When Tang Ling regained consciousness, she was already standing in front of a European-style double door.
"Here? How did I get here? Where is this?" Tang Ling looked around uneasily.
There is nothing in the dark and endless corridor, one end leads to this door, and the other end goes nowhere.
The door in front of her was closed, but some warm light shone through the cracks on the floor, shining on Tang Ling's shoes.
This should be the room with light on the second floor that I just saw outside.
Tang Ling hesitated, stretched out her hand and knocked lightly on the door twice, then pressed the door handle and slowly pushed into the room.
"Excuse me, is anyone there?"
Tang Ling asked, looking into the room, and then her eyes widened.
The moonlight outside the floor-to-ceiling window is shining brightly on the worn shelves, dusty books, and climbing on the weeds and vines in every corner.
This is a very spacious room. The bookshelf seems to be the only well-behaved child. Other tables and chairs are stacked on top of each other and squeezed together casually. You can see piles of books and people everywhere you look.
There is almost no place to stay here.
When Tang Ling opened the door, she accidentally knocked down a small pile of books, which scattered with a crash, causing dust to fly up all over the floor. She could see clearly under the warm illumination of the old-fashioned kerosene lamp hanging at the door.
This is a library that has been deserted for a long time.
It seems so.
Tang Ling covered her mouth and nose, fanned away the dust surrounding herself with her other hand, and walked in.
"Ahem!"
Tang Ling coughed softly due to the dust. She looked at the tangled vines and weeds growing here strangely, full of doubts.
Following the extended veins of these plants, Tang Ling noticed more weird things about this room.
"This should be the second floor, right?"
Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, the bright white full moon was very close, and a muddy path surrounded by bushes started in front of the floor-to-ceiling window where Tang Ling was standing.
The lower part of the tree with thick branches and leaves has been cut off, and the remaining upper part has been inserted into the soil. This is like a new place that is disconnected from the scene outside the first floor. Everything is revealed.
A sense of dissonance.
"Ouch? Why is there a little girl here?"
There was a voice behind her, and Tang Ling turned around in horror. On the other side of the bookshelf, an old man came out holding a kerosene lamp.
"Little girl, how did you get here?"
"Hello, grandpa, I don't know how I walked. I accidentally got lost, and then I ended up in this building somehow."
Tang Ling shuddered as she recalled her series of outrageous experiences. Now that she finally saw someone, she felt more relaxed, "Grandpa, do you know how to get to Building B, the girls' dormitory from here?"
It's past nine o'clock now, and I'm afraid my roommate will be worried if I go back too late."
"Little girl, don't worry. Old man, I haven't seen any children come here for many years. Come on, let's chat first."
The old man smiled kindly, as if he had a strong interest in Tang Ling. He placed the kerosene lamp on the bookshelf nearby, walked to Tang Ling's side, and looked at the scenery outside the floor-to-ceiling window, "It's very strange here, isn't it?"
"Ah? Ah, yes. This is obviously the second floor, why is there still a road?"
Tang Ling came to her senses, looked at the scenery outside the window with the old man, and expressed her inner doubts.
"People, sometimes you can't be deceived by superficial illusions. Sometimes what you think you see with your own eyes actually doesn't exist at all. Little girl, don't be controlled by your own consciousness."
The old man's strange words puzzled Tang Ling. Before she could think clearly, and when she was about to turn around to ask the old man, the wrinkled face was enlarged and displayed in front of her, and the old man's turbid eyes were staring at her.
"Little girl, have you forgotten something?"
"Wha, what?"
Tang Ling was so frightened that she took a few steps back, and a cold breath swept through her body again. Tang Ling swallowed, gritted her teeth, bowed towards the old man, and begged: "Grandpa, it's already very late.
It's time for me to go back to my dormitory, can you tell me how to go back?"
"Why are today's children so impatient when chatting?"
The old man shook his head, turned around, picked up the kerosene lamp again, and walked deeper into the bookshelf, "Follow me."
This library is bigger than Tang Ling thought. At least it has been following the old man for so long and it is not over yet.
Tang Ling turned on her mobile phone and was about to check if there was any response from the phone. The dizziness eroded her brain again. She couldn't support the shaking of her body. She staggered a few steps and pushed down the bookshelf beside her. The old man in front of her looked at her indifferently.
It's painful, but there still seems to be some unnoticeable unbearability in those cloudy eyes?
The hands of the clock hanging in the distance pointed to "9:30".
The old man opened a door in the dark and said to Tang Ling, who was in confusion: "This road can directly connect to the school playground. You can just keep walking in and you will get there."
Tang Ling's remaining consciousness felt that her body was walking towards the door uncontrollably. The old man beside her had eyes full of sadness at the last moment when she fell into coma, as if looking at her precious treasure.
She said with a light pleading tone: "When you go out later, don't be frightened by everything you see. You must persevere. Tang Ling, you must remember..."
When she woke up again, the mobile phone in her hand was vibrating continuously. Tang Ling picked it up in confusion and looked at it. The "Call from Luo Rui" displayed on it was clearly visible.
Does your phone have signal?!
Tang Ling was agitated and her consciousness finally returned. She hurriedly answered the phone and shouted: "Ruirui? Is that you?"
"Tang Ling! Where are you! Run! Don't go to the cafeteria!"
Rory's anxious voice came from the other end of the phone, accompanied by noisy and chaotic background sounds. Someone was screaming?
"Rarity? Rory, where are you? What's wrong with you? Rory!"
The phone was suddenly hung up, and Tang Ling began to panic. Just as she was about to call again, a piercing alarm sounded from the radio in the distance.
"In the end what happened?"
Tang Ling felt uneasy and hurriedly ran forward along the dark corridor. The mobile phone that had recovered its signal began to transmit messages that had not been received before. The dense red prompts kept coming one after another. Tang Ling was dazzled. In the transmission of countless messages, she
Some important information is clearly captured.
"Disaster worsens", "people eat people", "rapid monsters", "the end of the world"...
"No way? Is this a movie?"
Tang Ling quickened her pace and finally saw the exit not far ahead. On the other side of the exit, the closer she got, the more clearly she could hear the continuous screams.
