Chapter 2 The Green Train

My name is Qin Feng, I am eighteen years old this year, and I will be a freshman at Sichuan University of Information Technology in half a month.

During the more than ten years of living in Lijiacun, except for going to a small town a hundred miles away to study five days a week, I basically spent the rest of the time with my grandfather.

After my grandfather stopped reading Feng Shui for others, he was worried that his skills would be lost, so he taught me. Over the years, I have learned a little bit about looking for dragons and acupuncture points, reading Chinese characters, and reading faces. My grandfather said that I would not do it without his permission.

You can read people's fortunes privately, so I haven't officially read people's fortunes so far, and I don't know if my reading is accurate.

After the 1970s, feudal superstitions were eradicated and people were urged to believe in and advocate science. However, some strange things always happen in remote rural areas. Generally, when people encounter problems that they cannot solve on their own, they will always turn to Mr. Yin and Yang.

To solve it, this is why grandpa is the most respected in Lijia Village.

This summer is extremely hot. I went swimming in the river with my friends and as soon as I entered the courtyard, I saw my 68-year-old grandfather lying on a bamboo rocking chair under the grape tree. He was holding a dry tobacco pole in one hand and a kraft paper envelope in the other.

giggle.

"Grandpa, how many days have you been reading this admission notice? Are you ashamed?"

Mr. Qin looked at Qin Feng, who was barefoot, covered in mud, and half a head taller than him, with fondness in his eyes.

"How could I be more embarrassed than you? You are the dumbest among the children in this village. Do you remember that when you were a child, you went to the town to watch the movie "Xiao Bing Zhang Ga". Everyone left the show, but you were left crying and shouting to go to other people's homes.

Picking up bullet casings behind the curtain?"

"Go and wash up quickly. There is mung bean soup on the table. Remember to leave some for your parents!"

After washing up, I changed into a pair of basketball shorts that my uncle bought for me from the provincial capital. As soon as I went out with two bowls of mung bean soup, I saw the door to the courtyard being pushed open.

The eldest brother Li Kui from the next door neighbor walked in with a pheasant in his hand. When he saw us and our father, he said with a smile: "Grandpa Qin is sunbathing, Xiaofeng, when are you going to go to college? I was caught working in the fields today.

Two pheasants, one for you!"

Grandpa stared at Li Kui and said with a smile: "If you have something to say, just talk about it! I have watched you grow up since I was a child. I still don't know what your kid is thinking? You never run here if you have nothing to do."

Li Kui smiled and walked to the grape tree next to his grandfather, put down the pheasant in his hand, picked a green grape and stuffed it into his mouth, grinning sourly.

"Feng'er went to the fields to pull bean vines, and when she came back she said she had lost her wedding ring. She looked everywhere but couldn't find it. She was so anxious that she almost cried."

After hearing this, grandpa took a sip of mung bean soup and looked at me. I immediately understood and stared at Li Kui's face for a while.

"Brother, if your Yintang is unclear or not, it means that nothing unusual has happened recently. There is a bright red color in the Cai Silk Palace, which means that your wealth has been lost and recovered! I just made a hexagram, which is "Tuen" in "Yi", and those who benefit will make progress.

I am so happy that Gua Xun is grass, and the ridge is water, which is where there is grass beside the ditch!"

After Li Kui heard what I said, he looked at his grandfather suspiciously, as if he had some doubts about what I said. Grandpa looked at me with a proud smile on his face.

"Go! Near the stone platform for washing hands by the ditch! Qin Feng, follow and have a look!"

The bean fields were a bit far away, so Li Kui went home and rode his bicycle, with Feng'er's wife in front and me in the back. It took nearly half an hour to get to the ditch. As expected, the gold ring was found in the grass near the stone platform for washing hands.

Sister-in-law Feng'er happily said that I would become a god like my grandfather in the future.

When I returned to the yard, I rushed straight to Grandpa: "Grandpa, how did you calculate it in such detail? I can only measure grass with water?"

Grandpa, who was lying on a bamboo chair basking in the sun, barely opened his eyes: "After pulling out the bean vines, you must wash your hands. There is a lot of algae in the ditch near Li Kui's field. Your hands will be slippery after washing them. Don't look at the ones that are usually difficult to pick.

Gold rings are most likely to fall off at this time. You need to use your brain to think and calculate this? Do you think you are a god? Hurry and get rid of the pheasant, wait for your parents to come back later and stew it, and drink it tonight!"

I couldn't refute what grandpa said. I picked up the pheasant and was going to pluck the feathers from the door and play with it as a feather shuttlecock. Suddenly I had a question: "Grandpa, it will take you several days to show people the homestead, basically you have to walk around.

Is that the same thing?"

Grandpa, who was basking in the sun, finally opened his eyes and took a look at me.

"Well, it seems that he is a little smarter than I thought."

I originally planned to go for a swim in the river before leaving Lijiacun, but something happened and my grandfather asked the children in the village not to go into the water.

When there are no floods, the Yellow River will change from turbulent to gentle, and there will be less sediment in the shallow water near the shore. When the sun is shining, the young men in the village will play in the water together. It is only a few miles from the village entrance to the river.

After a short distance, the friends walked over, laughing and joking.

There are always adults busy with farming not far from the river, and the young men are allowed to swim in the water under their supervision. After all, there are no other entertainment venues in the countryside.

As usual at noon, four or five young men went to the shore together. After saying hello to the adults who were resting in the field beside the tree for the afternoon, they stripped naked and jumped into the water to play. I went to the field to help my uncle deliver food, so I didn't come with him.

Get into the water.

Among the young men there is a pair of brothers, the children of the village chief's family, Big Fat and Little Fat, as their names suggest. The two brothers are much stronger than the others, but they have the best water skills among them all.

No one knows what the specific situation was like about half an hour after entering the water.

"Something's wrong with my brother! Someone come quickly!"

When they heard Little Fatty's loud cry, the adults who were resting not far away just saw a few boys chasing Big Fatty who was floating deeper into the river. Big Fatty seemed to be out of control and floated straight towards the middle of the river.

.

"Bastard, hurry up! I can't hold my brother back!" Little Fatty, who swam to Big Fatty first, shouted anxiously to the young man behind him.

The young man known as the Bastard swam hard to Big Fatty's side and grabbed Big Fatty's other arm, which was sinking until only his head was above the water. "Old turtle, why is your brother so heavy? He can't pull him, so hold on tight," he said.

Toad and the others are coming soon."

The four people and several adults who came over worked together to pull the big fat man back to the shore. At this time, the big fat man was pale and semi-conscious, and his belly was bulging. He didn’t know how much river water he had drunk. One of the adults turned the big fat man over and placed him on his knees.

Make a bow shape and another adult slaps you on the back.

After a while, the fat man coughed and started spitting out water. His face became a little prettier, and he showed the fear that a normal person should have, and his whole body began to tremble.

Seeing this, the adult on the side breathed a sigh of relief and slapped the big fat man in the face with his backhand: "Damn it, how many times have I told you not to go deep, but you just don't listen! This is someone who has been rescued. Why can't he be rescued?

What to do? Remember this brush (slap) for me!"

The people in the village are honest, and all the adults regard the children as their own. If they encounter any disobedient children, they will be beaten, scolded, and educated. No one will blame them, but they will feel kind to them.

The fat man who received a slap was stunned for a long time before he said, "I don't know either!"

The fat guy next to him also spoke: "Something's wrong. I think my brother was dragged over there!"

"Dad, it's true! I couldn't pull the fat man back!" The young man known as the bastard explained to the man who was blaming the fat man.

Everyone was quiet for a moment. Who among those who live by the water has not heard of strange stories about water ghosts, water monkeys, sperm-eating big fish, drowning ghosts looking for substitutes, and river gods looking for servants?

"Stop thinking so damn nonsense, you were probably tripped by the river grass underneath!" an adult from another village said loudly.

"Uncle, look at my brother's ankles!" Little Fatty pointed at Big Fatty's ankles and exclaimed.

Only then did everyone discover that there were several very obvious black fingerprints on Big Fat's ankles. It seemed that Big Fat was dragged into the deep water by something.

"Come! I'll carry you back! Let's see Mr. Qin!" The fat man who had been beaten looked distressed and carried the fat man on his back.

Later, my grandfather asked the village chief to add rooster comb blood to glutinous rice and apply it on Big Fat's ankles. After he went to the river, he came back and no longer allowed the children to go into the water.

The whole story was told by my father when I came home from the fields. He was one of the adults who saved Big Fatty.

It was rare that our family spent one yuan and fifty cents each to get on the bus into the city. A teacher named Xia sent by the university to welcome the new students was waiting for me at the county guest house.

After saying goodbye, I carried a half-person-high luggage bag and got on the bus to the provincial capital with Teacher Xia. I admit that I felt a little uneasy when I left this small town for the first time. When I saw my grandfather and parents waving goodbye, I

The tears flowed down uncontrollably.

The bus ride to the provincial capital took nearly eight hours. Teacher Xia, who saw me refusing to speak, fell asleep on the seat, while I held tightly the jade pendant my grandfather gave me and told me to take it with me and stared out the window.

Everything looks forward to the future.

It was close to eight o'clock in the evening when we arrived in the provincial capital. Before I could take a closer look at the brightly lit city, Teacher Xia hurriedly took me to the train station. I spent two yuan nearby and ate two bowls of noodles before queuing up to enter the waiting hall.

The radio at the station shouted "Train 1785, go to the second waiting hall to check in." I was holding the red ticket and my palms were sweating. I followed Teacher Xia step by step to check in and enter the platform. I couldn't see the rear of the train from a distance.

There are green carriages, and it turns out that the train is really as long as shown on TV.

Under the guidance of Teacher Xia, I found my seat. The seat was close to the window. I put my luggage bag into the gap under the seat with great effort, and sat on the seat wrapped in green leather, which was not too soft.

, pressing his hands on the small table in front of him, looking out the window at the people hurriedly getting on and off the train, he began to look forward to the train running.

Maybe I am the person in Lijiacun who has been to the farthest place so far! Later, when I thought back to my first train ride, I realized how ridiculous it was!
