Chapter Nineteen: Makeover

Matt has rarely had a lot of sleep in the past few years.

After waking up, I went out energetically and bought two sumptuous breakfasts.

Lynn's legs are getting better naturally. They don't need to save money to go to the best hospital in the capital. The pressure is not so great. They can try to enjoy the beauty of life a little bit.

"Brother, when will Arthur arrange for me to go to work?" Matt asked.

"In the past few days, I have asked him to help me contact the editor of the newspaper. When he comes back, things will make progress for both of us." Lin En drank hot soup and ate pie, vowing in her heart to never do it again.

Not dealing with brown bread.

Matt smiled: "I suddenly have no job. I really don't know what to do."

"Have a good rest." Linn, on the contrary, lived a very leisurely life. He wrote again all night last night and finalized the first draft of the third story in "The Sherlock Holmes".

"I can't sleep, everything feels better. It's very relaxing and refreshing." Matt hasn't experienced this kind of life for a long time. He doesn't have to bear responsibilities and can leisurely eat a hot breakfast with his brother.

"What's going on here? It will get better and better in the future." Linn didn't know whether Arthur would come over today. If he was sure that he wouldn't come, he would like to go out with Matt again to get some fresh air.

Air.

Breakfast was finished quickly, and Matt, who couldn't sit still, suggested: "Let's go for a walk. Walking more should help your recovery."

The recovery status of the legs is closely related to the redemption of points. Walking more will not save you the next two hundred points.

However, Linn did not refuse Matt and followed him for two walks back and forth in the alley.

It was very tiring, but he also really missed the feeling of walking alone.

"Brother, I'm really happy to see you stand up again. I think my parents will be very happy to see you in the sky." Matt said as he helped Lynn go home and glanced at the gray sky.

"I hope." Lin En replied casually.

Waiting was also waiting, Linn went back and wrote the first draft of the fourth story, while Matt read the first draft of the third story with gusto, giving some small comments of his own from time to time.

Arthur didn't visit again until the afternoon.

"You are finally here. Let's make a more formal introduction this time. This is my brother Matt, and this is Arthur." Linn helped Matt first, and Arthur was familiar with him.

"Hello."

"Hello."

Matt, Arthur shook hands.

"Do you want to smoke?" Arthur habitually took out his cigarette case.

"No." In order to save money, Matt never smoked.

"Do you mind if I smoke in the house?"

"It doesn't matter, just smoke it."

"Okay." Arthur entered the room and sat on the bed with Matt.

Lin En sat in a wheelchair to make room for them.

"You really need to find another place to live as soon as possible, there's barely room for three people here." Arthur suggested as he retracted his legs in the crowded room.

"It depends on what news you bring." Linn urged with a smile.

"Good news." Arthur stopped talking nonsense, "Let's talk about your brother's work first. We have a warehouse here and we need someone to move goods. The work is not heavy. When the goods come, we move them. If there is no goods, do whatever you like.

Of course, the money is not as much as being a chimney sweep, but I can guarantee that there will be no wage arrears here. If he dares to owe it, you can come to me and I will help you solve it."

"Okay, the money is enough for me and my brother to eat and pay the rent." Matt didn't have any requirements.

"That's alright. If there's nothing wrong with you, I can take you over later to get familiar with it." Arthur lit the cigarette and took a puff, "Then there's the matter of Linn's novel submission. The editor named Fan Lun is very nice.

I am satisfied with your story and I think he intends to publish it."

What Lin En is most concerned about is the remuneration: "How much will it cost?"

"He wants to interview you. I have made an appointment for tomorrow afternoon. The location will be a coffee shop in a wealthy area."

Lin En nodded slightly: "Then I'll go there tomorrow afternoon."

Arthur raised his hand: "Also, he asked me about your situation, and I said he would know when you meet him. I was thinking whether I should meet him as a ghetto person, or pretend to be someone who is not easy to bully.

Identity, it depends on you. One day is enough to consider and prepare."

"It's not easy to pretend to be an identity. Do you have any ideas?" Linn hasn't had direct contact with editor Fan Lun yet and wants to hear Arthur's opinion first.

"This kind of editor is generally well-informed. If you disguise yourself too poorly, you will be easily recognized. But if you go to see him with such a shabby appearance, he will definitely assume that you have no background and blackmail you severely."

Se said, "In short, you can pretend, but don't pretend too much. You should be able to achieve a balance."

Matt, who was observing, interjected: "Even the editor of the newspaper?"

"People in rich areas are only interested in profit, and they all scheming with each other. They won't hold back when they meet people in slums. This is normal." Arthur stood up and flicked the cigarette ashes outside the house. "The key is how we deal with it.

You definitely can’t give up your benefits to the other party in vain.”

"If the price he offers is too low, then we will find another newspaper and continue investing."

"Do you think other newspapers do better than him?" Arthur glanced at the innocent Matt.

"Let's just say that I am a traveler from a northern city. I had an accident when passing through Tswold City. You saved me. Because I injured my leg, I could only stay in Tswold City during my recuperation period.

So I plan to write some articles to make money." Lin En came up with a background during the dozens of seconds when Matt was indignant.

Arthur commented: "It's not easy to expose, unlike a slum background that easily arouses contempt. It should be better to talk about it with this identity. I think if he checks your words to see if there are any loopholes, with your brain, he can do it

to be dealt with appropriately.”

"It should be no problem. I asked him to cooperate, and I wasn't the prisoner he caught. If he asked questions without proper etiquette, as if he was investigating me, he wouldn't be able to survive today." Lin En was quite confident.

"Then you need to prepare a set of decent clothes, and also improve your background." Arthur pointed out Linn's current shortcomings.

Lin En lowered his head and looked at his clothes. They were old and torn.

From now on, it is very important to dress decently when going in and out of wealthy areas.

"Is there enough money?" Lynn was worried that after four months of no income, Matt would have little money left.

"There are still more than six hundred copper coins." Matt was not sure whether the money was enough to buy clothes that could support the scene.

"I can lend you some if necessary." The points from Arthur's first cleanup mission were all used to exchange for money. Lin En, who has already confirmed that the money will be published in the novel, will not lose money. "But I have to collect some."

Interest."

"Okay, in that case, I'll buy one for my brother by the way. He can act as my follower then, which will be more convincing." Lin En was not afraid of owing money. He owed a lot, and Arthur was the passive one.

The most important thing is that the investment of two clothes and interest is likely to allow him to gain greater benefits in negotiations with the editor.

The value of the extra benefits is undoubtedly greater than the value of clothes and interest.

"Let's go, then? Let's take a shower and then go to the clothing store to look at suitable clothes?" Arthur stood up.

"Let's go, and buy a cane by the way. I'll have to get more used to walking in the future." Lin En is more willing to walk than sit in a wheelchair, even if it is more strenuous and has to endure severe pain.

The three of them went out, took a shower first, and then went to a clothing store between the rich area and the slum area. They spent eight hundred copper coins, that is, eight gold coins, and bought two sets of fabrics with excellent workmanship.

Pretty good clothes and shoes.

This was equivalent to Matt's salary of almost three dollars, which made him feel a twinge of pain.

But when he changed his clothes and stood in front of the mirror and saw that he seemed like a different person, Matt felt less uncomfortable and just sighed: "It's great to have money."

Lin En leaned on the crutches that Arthur bought along the way and stood with Matt: "It's still far away."

"Yes, sir." Matt bowed in a dignified manner.

"It's not bad." Lin En commented, "After you go there, just be more generous and don't look around."

It can be regarded as destiny. Lin En has stayed at home for several years, has never done any heavy work, and has thin skin and tender hands. It is really convincing.

As for Matt's calloused hands, it doesn't conflict with the identity he wants to play.

Arthur was still wearing a black windbreaker with the Sheriff's Department badge on his shoulder: "Well, it looks good at first glance. The rest will be up to you tomorrow."
