112 Looking for a job

Just as Wang finished drinking the milk, Hu Dawei also drove there.

Hu Dawei walked in directly from the outer door of the kitchen and said hello to everyone.

"Good morning everyone!"

Susan responded politely, and Wu Fei seemed to know Hu Dawei as well, and said hello listlessly.

"What's wrong with Feifei today? Are you so down?" Hu Dawei was a little surprised and asked Susan.

"It's nothing, Feifei and Jack had some trouble."

Susan told Hu Dawei what happened in the bathroom yesterday.

"The door lock is broken, let me fix it." Hu Dawei enthusiastically picked up the tool box and prepared to go upstairs.

Susan smiled and said, "I don't have any wages to pay you."

Hu Dawei laughed and said, "Just treat me to breakfast."

Susan smiled and nodded in agreement, and also prepared one for Wang Gang.

Wang Gang thanked him and then went upstairs with Hu Dawei.

"I didn't expect you to be able to repair door locks?" Wang Gang said to Hu Dawei.

"Labor is expensive in the United States, and hiring someone to repair locks is very expensive, so if something breaks in my house, I fix it myself."

Hu Dawei squatted down and checked the door lock. When he found that the door bolt was broken, he couldn't help but be startled.

"You can see it too! The door lock was vandalized."

Hu Dawei quickly closed the bathroom door and reminded Wang Gang: "We all live under the same roof. If you have any conflicts, talk about it and don't destroy things."

Wang just smiled and said: "You think I broke the door lock, please, I just arrived yesterday."

Hu Dawei also realized that Wang Gang had no reason to destroy the door lock.

Wang Gang said quietly: "Before I came, there were three people living in the house. Wu Fei was the victim and Susan was the homeowner. Who do you think broke the door lock?"

Hu Dawei's eyes lit up, and then he sighed: "I knew that stick was not a good thing."

"Isn't Park Seung-ki arranged by your agency?"

"No, he is an international student at Stanford, but he is not an international student handled by our agency. He came here on his own after seeing the rental advertisement Susan posted on the school."

Wang Gang was stunned.

"Don't worry about this. I'll have a chance to talk to Susan alone and find a way to get rid of that stick." Hu Dawei warned.

Wang Gang nodded and didn't take it to heart.

The two of them repaired the door lock for a while, but determined that it would not be repairable for a while and would have to change the lock again, so they went downstairs to explain to Susan.

"When I send Jack back in the afternoon, I will stop by the hardware store to buy a lock and replace it for you." Hu Dawei glanced at Park Shengji who was having breakfast and said to Susan:

"Be careful when using the bathroom today."

"Thank you. I'll pay you back how much you paid for the lock." Susan said.

"I'll settle the matter with you when I get back." Hu Dawei said while eating breakfast.

Susan also prepared an American breakfast for Wang Gang, but he was a little uncomfortable with it and missed the bean juice charred rings in Sijiu City.

After breakfast, Wang Gang helped wash the dishes before going to school with Hu Dawei.

Wu Fei had class this morning, and Hu Dawei also took her with him.

As for Park Shengji, Hu Dawei didn't care. Wang Gang saw him riding a bicycle.

Susan's house is right next to Stanford, very close to the school. It only takes ten minutes to walk there. It's a good room in the school district.

But the Stanford campus is very large. After entering, Hu Dawei walked around for a few minutes before arriving at the Academic Affairs Office building, and dropped Wu Fei at the door of a teaching building on the way.

Hu Dawei parked the car in a familiar manner, and then took Wang Gang to apply for his student registration and receive his class schedule.

Hu Dawei had already paid the tuition fee before, so it saved Wang Gang some time.

After finishing everything, it was almost 11 o'clock. Wang Gang proposed to treat Hu Dawei to a meal to thank him for his help during the busy schedule.

"Let's eat in the school cafeteria! Prices in the United States are very expensive, and eating out is not cheap. We can also visit the campus by the way." Hu Dawei said with a smile.

Wang Gang thought about his wallet and decided to eat in the canteen!

There are nine canteens in Stanford. Hu Dawei took Wang Gang to the nearest canteen.

Wang Gang also discovered that the cafeteria adopts a buffet style, and the price is 8 yuan for breakfast, 12 yuan for lunch, and 14 yuan for dinner.

All the knives used here are beautiful.

A lunch for Wang Gang and Hu Dawei cost 24 US dollars, which in exchange for flower coins costs 160 yuan. As far as canteens are concerned, it is not cheap.

Thinking about domestic canteens where you can eat all you can for ten yuan, Wang Gang felt that his living expenses of 150,000 yuan would not last long.

Wang Gang once again thought of working part-time and studying part-time.

"David, do you know where I can work?" Wang Gang asked while eating.

"You want to work and make money?" Hu Dawei didn't seem surprised and said calmly: "There are not many ways for international students to work, so it is better to study hard and strive for scholarships."

Wang Gang took a sip of water and said: "My family situation is not very good. It is not easy for my parents to send me to study abroad. They have sold a house at home. I want to make some money as soon as possible and send it back to buy the house."

Hu Dawei sighed and said: "To tell you the truth! It's very difficult for you to work part-time.

You came to the United States with a study visa, not a work visa, and the American government does not allow you to work casually."

Wang Gang also learned that there are not many places where international students can work in the United States, and there are many restrictions. Most of the work places are limited to schools, such as canteens and supermarkets, and there are very few jobs.

There are more restrictions for international students working abroad. For example, it must be a job related to the major they studied, and the employer must go through the procedures at the school, which is very cumbersome. Unless they are special talents, no company will admit international students.

Zhao Meilan and Su Daqiang just didn't understand the situation and thought that after Su Mingzhe came to the United States, he could find a high-paying job and send money to his family.

"The positions in the school have been taken up long ago, so don't even think about it." Hu Dawei said: "As for a job outside the school, I can help you find it, but it is an illegal job, the salary is less than others, and you have to bear a lot of responsibility.

The risk is that if the school finds out, not only will you be expelled from school, but you will also be sent back to your country.

You have to think clearly."

Wang Gang thought for a while and said: "It doesn't matter. You can help me find it. I will bear the risks myself."

This chapter is not over yet, please click on the next page to continue reading the exciting content! Hu Dawei sighed and said, "Okay! I'll figure it out. Do you have any special skills?"

Wang Gang was stunned. He really didn't know what his specialty was. Did he tell Hu Dawei that his specialty was business?

After looking at the food on the plate, Wang Gang had an idea and said: "I can cook, and I am good at Sichuan cuisine and Tanjia cuisine."

"You're the chef?!"

Now it was Hu Dawei's turn to be surprised.

"Do you have a domestic chef certificate?"

"No, my cooking skills are inherited from my family. If you have the chance, you can also try the dishes." Wang Gang said confidently.

In the courtyard world, Wang Gang not only opened a chain of restaurants, but also learned all the skills from He Yuzhu and cooked authentic Sichuan cuisine.

As for Tan's cuisine, it is a family tradition of He Yuzhu. Wang Gang is his brother-in-law, so it is not wrong to say a family tradition.

When Hu Dawei heard this, he became energetic and said: "There are many Chinese restaurants near Stanford, and they all lack good chefs. If you are really skilled, I will definitely find you a job and complete your work procedures."

Wang Gang also didn’t expect that Chinese cooking is quite popular in the United States.

"Nowadays, many foreigners like Chinese food, especially the strong Sichuan food. San Francisco is the area with the largest Chinese population and there are many Chinese restaurants. However, there is a mixed bag, some good and some bad." Hu Dawei said excitedly:

"I know a Chinese restaurant. Because a chef returned to China, many customers who liked his craftsmanship left, and the owner was worried!"

Wang Gang smiled and said, "You know this kind of thing?"

Hu Dawei explained: "Chinese people are actually very discriminated against in the United States. They like to sign up for group tours to keep warm. Basically, everyone knows when something happens in any house."

Although the United States has always advocated democracy and peace and opposed discrimination, it is the country with the most severe racial discrimination in the world.

The white ones discriminate against the black ones, and the black ones look down on the rice dumplings. As for the yellow ones, they are at the bottom of the discrimination chain. This is not news.

"If you have nothing to do in the afternoon, let's go over and try out our skills. If it works, I think the restaurant owner wouldn't mind helping you solve the work visa problem." Hu Dawei didn't want to discuss the topic of discrimination in depth, so he deliberately interrupted.

"No problem, I'm very confident in my craftsmanship." Wang Gang said with a smile.
