Let’s talk about the interrogation.

At this point in the plot, I suddenly remembered what I wrote about "The Case of Zhao Zhiguo Gong Suan" a year ago. Here I will re-post my thoughts on torture to extract confessions at that time.

"The case of Zhao Zhiguo's rape of a woman and some thoughts on the murder of Nie Chaofan"

Lao Xiong joined the grassroots criminal investigation team twenty years ago when he just graduated from the police academy.

Since I had just started working and had no experience, my team was investigating a serious case that had a negative impact on society, so I was placed in a special trial by the leader.

The situation of the case was similar to the above. The suspect was also caught, but no evidence chain could be formed, so we could only seek a breakthrough through confessions.

I was very excited before entering the interrogation room of the detention center. When I heard the word "special interrogation", I felt amazing. I was excited that I could see the advanced interrogation techniques of criminal investigation for the first time.

As a result, this "advanced interrogation technique" is to prevent people from sleeping, and several high-power spotlights are hung from the ceiling to directly shine on the suspects.

If you want to drink water, no problem;

If you are hungry, no problem;

It's a bit urgent to urinate and defecate, but it's no problem. Are you sleepy?

Sorry, brother, come and wake up Genhuazi.

Not enough? Then have another one. Look, it’s just for you.

Prepared four items.

Don't worry, they are all good cigarettes and won't kill you.

So, in the next few days, I partnered with an old criminal investigator and sat there for a long time.

There is only one suspect, who has been sitting on the tiger bench without saying a word, not complaining, and not going crazy. The police here work in two shifts, changing one group every 12 hours. There is no way, they have to leave the police force to answer the police and handle other cases.

Lao Xiong Chunchun's tool was to gather the number of police officers that should be available for interrogation.

I had nothing to do later, so I flipped through the file on the table. It was a thick book, probably with more than a hundred pages.

I watched it with gusto at the time.

It wasn’t until I finished reading that I realized that the real owner was sitting opposite me.

I was young, and I was so angry at the bloody criminal facts in the case file. I pointed at people's noses and called them beasts. If I hadn't been stopped by the old detective, I would have wanted to slap him in the face as soon as I got angry.

Thinking about it later, it was an exaggeration. The policeman handling the case didn't even say anything. Why should I be anxious as a tool?

Especially since the other party ignored him and didn't take Lao Xiong's words to heart at all.

It's time to eat and drink, and when you want to sleep, you have to help pass the cigarettes to the old bear to light the fire. The worst part is to go to the tub. Just in case, the two of them face each other with big eyes and small eyes, stinking of smoke. Now think about both sides

It's not easy.

It took about three days, maybe four days.

Lao Xiong had put himself through a hard time, but he was not tired.

The old detective had sharp eyes and knew that there might be something wrong with this young man. After a shift change, he didn't leave and took Old Xiong to the observation room next door to chat.

I have forgotten what I was talking about specifically, but there is a sentence that impressed me deeply. It probably means that some people regard the police as a job to make a living. They do whatever they should do and don’t do anything they shouldn’t. They will be a little tired at work, but

Live easy.

But some people really regard the police profession as their lifelong belief.

When it comes down to it, it means solving the case and delivering justice to the victim.

You said that who is a police officer knows that it is illegal to extract confessions through torture? But why are they repeatedly banned? They are all civil servants with iron rice bowls. The policeman handling the case threw up his hands and said, "I'm quitting my job." Can the leadership do anything?

Why did you do it in the end? It was because you couldn’t bear to see the misery of the victim.

(We don’t rule out black sheep. There are more than two million police officers in the country. There must be those kind of heartless guys in the team.)

The perpetrators of some cases are so tragic that it makes people want to pull out a gun and kill the suspect on the spot. Especially young people who have just graduated from the police academy and are full of blood, sometimes it is really hard to see the tragedy.

Well, emotions will affect the handling of the case.

A few cases are hard to describe at once. They are roughly like those in TV dramas in beautiful countries. Everyone knows that he did it, but when they walked out of the court with their acquittals, their chins were raised and they were proud.

If this feeling fell on the policeman handling the case, it would be better to just take a knife and cut him in the heart.

It's a bit off topic.

Let's go back to twenty years ago. After listening to the old detective's advice, Lao Xiong's mental state improved a little, but at that time he couldn't help but still have a relatively childish question in his heart.

The old criminal investigation is a check, and out of ten cases with insufficient evidence, nine are true and one is unjust.

Do the people want a capable policeman to handle all ten cases, or do they want a cautious policeman to release all ten cases based on lack of evidence?

Lao Xiong still can't figure out how to handle this matter correctly.

In fact, most people's focus is on the one person who was wronged, but the nine victims who were illegally violated and had no way to seek justice are also regrettable.

So for this question, Lao Xiong can only speculate on an answer that can be used as a reference, "Whether it's right or wrong, just look at which side your butt is sitting on."

At this point, someone may jump out and point at Lao Xiong’s nose and scold him. Don’t worry if you are unjustly accused and tortured.

It’s all hypocrisy over there; or, what will you do when you are violated but the police say there is no evidence and can’t do anything?

what to do?

If it involves family members, Lao Xiong's idea is that if the law cannot solve the problem, then use personal force. After all, the law is already the lowest moral requirement for people. If this bottom line is exceeded, then they are no longer human.

This doesn't sound police at all.

(laugh)

In recent years, there have been a lot fewer cases of torture to extract confessions.

There are many reasons for this, including the widespread application of science and technology, strong accountability under legal supervision and repeated self-examination within the public security system, but Lao Xiong believes that the most essential thing is the current batch of small towns that are doing the research.

Although the family is of high quality and good culture, it has lost the spirit of the old comrades in their early years.

Let’s lay down a layer of armor first. Lao Xiong was born as a problem solver in a small town and passed the college entrance examination and went to the police academy.

If you are curious about Lao Xiong’s evaluation of himself after working as a police officer for so many years.

Four words, a clear conscience.

Back to the topic, what are Lao Xiong’s thoughts on these two related cases spanning ten years?

In the final analysis, it comes down to one sentence:

Justice delayed is not justice.
