Chapter 155 The pursuit failed

Every dwarf present knew that they could not let the rat go back to the mountains, especially when the leader of the rat men had not been killed and the army structure had not been broken up.

Relying on the extremely fast reproduction rate of the Ratmen, it is foreseeable that the leading Gray Prophet will pull a new team out of nowhere before long.

Snorri relied on the knowledge his current body had learned in the past years to know that the reproduction of rat-men was carried out through female rats deep in the breeding pit.

I don’t know if it is the result of natural evolution or some male rats deliberately do it through vicious biotechnology. For the female rats in the breeding pit, fertility is the only meaning of their existence.

They have an average of more than a dozen cubs per litter, giving birth to four to five litters per year, and it only takes two years for rat-man cubs to grow into adult rat-men. Give a female rat one year, and she can breed dozens of cubs.

Hundreds of mice.

"Charge! Crush them in the name of the Mother Goddess!" Snorri stretched out his hand to retract the war hammer, and then he took the lead and rushed towards the gathered rat people.

"Earth, release your fury!" As he approached the Skaven's shrinking front that became denser, Snorri activated the cooled runes of rage and destruction.

The power of the runes destroyed the formation of the rat people, and Snorri's men began to kill.

"Bang!" Snorri smashed his hammer down, only to find that the white-haired mouse in front of him blocked his hammer with the halberd in his claws.

"Ha!" Snorri also pressed his left hand on the hammer handle, and pressed down with both hands. The rat was very clever, and instead of fighting with him for strength, he took a step back to relieve his force.

Snorri shook his head. He picked up the hammer again and moved in small steps to look for new opportunities. The eliteness of this group of parliamentary guards was higher than any enemy force he had seen since traveling.

Their equipment seems to have been enhanced by Skaven's unique enchanting technology, and their technical, tactical and physical fitness are also superior to similar ones. Fortunately, their number is not large.

Snorri looked around and found that it was difficult for his Anvil Guards to break through the front quickly. The short-handled weapons they were equipped with were suitable for fighting in narrow underground areas, and their armor-breaking effects were not very good.

Although the Hammer Warriors are more lethal and a single blow from the Rune Hammer can almost render a rat incapable of combat, they are still able to perform some necessary dodges against the rats' attacks in a slightly clumsy manner.

Like the human giant swordsmen, their armor has also undergone some modifications in order to facilitate the manipulation of the powerful two-handed war hammer. There is no plate armor protection at the shoulder and elbow joints, only lined mail armor.

The council guards holding halberds quickly discovered this weakness of the dwarves, and the relatively longer weapons went straight to their arms. Their muscles and special halberds had already caused several of Snorri's subordinates to attack

Injured.

"Fire! Give me the flames..." Snorri shouted halfway before he realized that he no longer had flame cannons. Burkin also took away the supporting munitions when he returned to Karak-Norn.

"Fire the Iron Dragon Hand Cannon hard!" Snorri immediately changed his mind. It would be more effective to use technological weapons to deal with these elites.

When more than a dozen tongues of fire appeared in the square, no matter how brave these white-haired mice were, they could not resist the high-temperature flames. They began to retreat, and gradually changed from an organized retreat to a rout.

Seeing this situation, Snorri could only sigh. His troops still lacked the ability to pursue. After a few hundred meters of symbolic pursuit, he withdrew his troops and returned to the front of the temple.

"May your souls be blessed by Sigma!" Snorri prayed as he stood in front of the twisted corpses of Viscount Thompson and the battle priest who had just been snatched out of the cracks in the ground.

Viscount Thompson is a temporary commander assigned by William III. His viscount fiefdom is not here. Helmgart Fortress, as a strategic and trade important place, is currently under the direct control of the prince himself.

Therefore, there is currently no actual human commander in Helmgart Fortress. If the Sigma priest had not died under the Earth Splitting Technique, he might have been able to gain command by virtue of his prestige and religious status.

But the imperial captain who is now in charge of commanding the provincial army cannot mobilize Viscount Thompson's personal power during his lifetime - the giant swordsman guard he hired and the light fire wizard as a magic consultant.

And Viscount Thompson's private army commander obviously has no authority to command the provincial army formed by the Prince of Rickland.

Of course, both parties also understand that if the Gray Prophet is still alive and its parliamentary guards are not completely wiped out, and they pursue it alone, the probability of delivering supper to the rats is far greater than the probability of successfully avenging the lord.

Snorri knew how to take advantage of his illness to kill him, but at the moment, due to his own sensitive status, he was unable to organize human cavalry to pursue him.

After a brief communication, Snorri learned that the military power here could not resume normal operation until William III appointed the new Lord of Helmgart, and Viscount Thompson's private army would also leave here and return to his territory to continue fighting for his cause.

The family fulfills the remaining contract.

This means that if his convoy also leaves, there will be a window of defensive power in Helmgart. Those rats were already running away, and I don’t know if they will kill any of them.

Snorri didn't want to leave just now, otherwise his bloody battle this night would most likely be in vain. Without their leader and spiritual support, it might be difficult for humans to withstand the rat-men's counterattack.

But he also needs a reason to stay. Although he is already the "generous" Snorri, if he puts up a brave face and volunteers to help the human forces who bear the hatred clause to defend the city, it is very likely that his reputation will be ruined.

Comment on development in strange places.

When Snorri was struggling with how to proceed with the next step, the Rick knights, who still had a sense of family and country, helped him solve his troubles.

These imperial knights are all local aristocratic children of Rick Territory. They are directly ordered to work with Prince Rick himself. On the one hand, they appear here to strengthen Viscount Thompson's defense force, and on the other hand, they also need to monitor him.

Knight Walter, who came to the dwarf settlement for help before, went through a breakout and witnessed the military power of the rat men from outside the temple. He had a more intuitive understanding of the power of these big rats standing tall.

After a while of whispers, he persuaded his comrades. These Imperial knights invited Snorri's convoy to stay in their own names to help guard Helmgart, and they pooled their own money to advance the hiring expenses.
Snorri accepted this somewhat deceptive behavior and said that since you sincerely ask for your permission, I will reluctantly stay to protect the city until the new lord takes office.
