Chapter 43: Victory and Pursuit

Facing the attack of the rats, the dwarves did not panic. Relying on Snorri's rune magic and the iron dragon gunner's shooting, Gnom gained sufficient time to reorganize the front.

What's really scary about the Skaven are their high-tech weapons and their elusiveness underground. They don't have gun squads, dimensional lightning cannons, ratlin and other high-tech weapons. They don't have the blessing of Skaven magic from the Gray Prophet, and they are exposed to the frontal battlefield.

There is no terrain advantage on the ground, so the threat from this group of ratmen is not great.

Compared to the warlords of the Bad Claw Clan who were still just starting out, the dwarves present had rich combat experience.

As the leader of the prospecting team, the gold-seeker uncle has been fighting against the Ratmen underground for nearly three hundred years. Gnom has been accompanying Thor Green on his expeditions from north to south since he became an adult. It can also be called a battlefield.

A veteran.

Soon, the teams of the two races collided. The rat warlord immediately felt the same despair as the goblin shaman who had gone to see Brother Gaomao. That is, the clan rats under his command could not survive with their simple swords and spears.

The meteorite armor of the iron warriors in the front row cannot be broken!

Seeing his remaining strength hitting the dwarf defense line like a moth to a flame, and then being harvested like wheat, the rat warlord quickly fell into a state of anxiety, and the morale of the clan rats also began to decline.

Snorri looked at the scene in front of him coldly. Since he did not have a suitable output angle, he did not even let the Thunder Gunner and Heavy Arrow Crossbowman fire. Originally, more than half of the ammunition of these two teams had been consumed in the previous shooting at the greenskins.
The iron dragon gunners saved their ammunition and only fired once when the clan rats gathered in a group to burn them to ashes. The ballistae secretly pointed at the giant nest rat and the rat men on its back.

This massacre lasted for two or three minutes, and the dwarf troops did not even feel any pressure. The damage these clan rats could cause was completely incomparable to the greenskins charging down from the mountain!

Finally, the rat warlord couldn't stand it anymore, and the young guy realized that the strategy written in the military scrolls of first relying on massive cannon fodder troops to consume the enemy did not work all the time.

It swung the halberd in its hand, "Damn it! Damn it! The profiteer who sold my book dared to lie to me! I want it, I want to stuff it into a breeding pit for him!"

It vented its incompetent rage, "Rat God! Go! Go! Cut off the beard of that dwarf thing!" As it spoke, it urged the giant rat under it to charge forward with the storm rats under its command.<

The Giant Lair Rat is very fast. It runs wildly on its four thick legs and quickly overtakes the group of Storm Rats that attack together.

"Release!" Snorri seized the opportunity and stretched out his hand, and the dwarves operating the ballista released their bowstrings in response.

Two huge crossbow arrows were fired at the giant rat that was running wildly!

One crossbow arrow missed by half a meter and strung three clan rats into a rat gourd. The other one accurately hit the giant rat. The crossbow arrow flew straight in without any feathers with huge kinetic energy, and the giant beast's charge came to an abrupt end.

, it twitched on the spot a few times, and then began to roll over in pain.

The mount's painful roll knocked the rat warlord off its back. After it landed, it rolled twice before regaining its balance. However, this also indirectly saved its rat life.

After that, dozens of tongues of fire from the iron dragon hand cannons came one after another, and the giant beast was quickly burned into a ball of coke.

Shaking his head, the rat warlord recovered from the shock and opened his eyes to see this scene. It was frightened to death!

"Retreat! Retreat!" It dragged its halberd backwards and slipped into the hole without looking back. Seeing the boss fleeing, the already low morale of the clan rat army collapsed instantly.

Some loyal ones continued to follow the footsteps of the clan leader and fled underground, some were frightened and started running around, and some crazy ones even started to attack their fellow clan members around them.

These crazy guys thrust their weapons unceremoniously into the necks or chests of their fellow racers, just to grab a better shield or a complete helmet to increase their chances of survival.

The black-furred storm rats who were supposed to suppress this behavior no longer care about this. Although they are stronger, stronger and better equipped than their brethren, they are still timid rats in nature. These guys are also busy.

Escape underground.

Looking at the frantically escaping rats, the dwarves pushed forward, chopped down some of the weaklings, and then stopped.

The dwarves let out a war cry declaring victory, but there was still the same problem. The heavily armored dwarf troops couldn't catch up with these guys who had almost no weight and were focused on escaping.

The three dwarf leaders Gnom, Snorri and the gold-seeking uncle soon gathered together to discuss the follow-up issues.

Snorri was relieved to see that although his elder brother had a cut on his cheek and many dents and scratches on his helmet and breastplate, he was in good spirits and had no serious injuries.

"We have won! But it is not enough," the gold seeker's uncle said. He put his mining pick on the ground to support his body. At his age, participating in a whole morning's battle was somewhat too much.<

"It is necessary to clear out the remaining greenskins and chase down the fleeing ratmen. If we miss this opportunity and wait for them to organize themselves again, there will never be peace!" The gold seeker continued.

"And cleaning the battlefield and rescuing the wounded!" Snorri added.

"How do we divide the work?" Gnom asked. He wiped the sweat off his head and stood at the forefront of the front line to have a battle of victory and death with the green-skinned boss who was more than two meters tall.

In a one-on-one challenge, he consumes a lot of energy.

"Leave the escaped ratmen to me! I swear I will come back with the warlord's head!" Seeing this situation, Snorri, who had hardly done anything in the battle, took the initiative and asked to take on the heaviest task.<

"It's better for me to go!" The gold-seeking uncle took a breath and said, "My experience in fighting rats is not comparable to that of you two young people!"

Hearing this, both brothers shook their heads, "In comparison, rescuing the wounded and organizing the recovery, construction and production are more important. Uncle, I can't do these jobs without experience!" Snorri explained.

"That little mouse doesn't have a mount, so its little ability is nothing to worry about. Besides, I still have the protection of the Eternal Hammer Guards!" Hearing the last sentence, Gnom's lips twitched but he finally nodded.
Although there are only ten people, no dwarf would doubt the strength of this team.

"I'm going to take stock of the Iron-Smashing Warriors! You bring all the ones who can still fight!" Gnom said, turning around and leaving.

Snorri looked at the fifty dwarves under his command. They were all full of energy and eager to try. They finally came out and only killed some goblin wolf cavalry. How could these Anvil Guards, who had been holding back for a long time, be satisfied?<
