Chapter XVIII Sosa, the Frontier of the Empire

Sousa is a distant planet near the eastern edge of the galaxy. It is almost at the very edge of the human empire.

Not far from it is the edge of the Ultimate Star Field, the outer edge of the human Milky Way. Beyond this vast space with sparse stars, there is only the darkness and silence outside the Milky Way.

When Linn secretly landed on Sosa, he discovered that this was actually a precious and livable world.

It has azure oceans, dense forests, and a large number of mountains and plains.

Lin En took a deep breath. The air was fresh. He could still hear the sound of birds chirping in the forest in the distance.

"What a nice planet, isn't it? Dantioch."

The war blacksmith behind him nodded in agreement. The environment on this planet was very friendly to him, a person who could not wear a helmet.

Moreover, the air was pure, and the severe pain caused by every breath he took seemed to be less severe.

"Hasn't civilization developed in such a good environment?"

"No! There are only some lower-level animals, birds and insects." Linn thought of the top-secret information about this planet.

This is a pearl-like planet, and there are only a few planets on the eastern edge of the galaxy that have ecosystems similar to Terra.

The vibrant ocean, the land covered with mountains and dense forests. Both the oxygen content and the temperature are extremely suitable.

No more advanced life forms have developed in tens of millions or even billions of years! There is no trace of alien visitation or colonization. This is indeed puzzling, as if some powerful ruler has swept away the

Same.

The Ultramarines who discovered it for the first time were quite curious about this world!

Because in the distant golden age, if there is a certain type of planet that will almost certainly be colonized, it is this rare and precious Terra-like planet.

It seems unlikely that those pioneers of the past ignored or missed Sosa, but there is indeed no evidence that Sosa ever witnessed any human activity, or even traces of colonization that rose and disappeared here.

Until the investigators came to Pharos Mountain, a towering mountain that stands out among all the majestic mountains on the entire planet. They discovered ancient ruins hidden under the mountain.

The plan for full-scale colonization was immediately shelved by Guilliman. Instead, a group of small-scale agricultural settlers took root in Sousa to support the archaeologists and alien civilization scientists who went to the Pharos Mountains to carry out exploration missions. This world

It was quietly "hidden".

"Forget it, we'll talk about this later, let's go meet the defenders here."

After Lin En finished speaking, he raised his head and looked into the distance.

A company of Ultramarines, the 199th Company, is Sousa's permanent defense force.

Company commander Andalus and several sergeants have been waiting for a long time.

Lynn stepped off the transport boat.

"Dear Sir, welcome to your arrival!" Andalus stepped forward to greet him. He bowed his head and saluted with everyone behind him.

"Captain Andalus, soldiers of the 199th Company, there is no need to be so polite. Do you know the purpose of my visit?"

"Yes, sir, we have received the order."

"Then, from now on, I will be responsible for everything here!"

"Follow your orders!"

Lin En nodded with satisfaction,

"Then, let's go see that Pharos!"

He couldn't wait to see what the creation of the prehistoric civilization 60 million years ago looked like.

The same goes for the war blacksmith behind him. Dantioch dragged his huge body covered with iron armor and staggered to keep up. He followed them towards the mountain. Every step was a challenge.

He endured the pain every step brought to him. The genetic modification gave him extraordinary endurance. These were not problems.

He fully understood the importance of this trip. The betrayal of the Primarch made people sad, and being loyal to the Emperor was his greatest wish. For this reason, he was willing to endure any suffering.

Pharos Mountain is a pyramid-shaped, towering mountain. Each side of it is almost flat, with only a few irregularities and rock cracks indicating that it is a natural creation.

Its top is covered with snow that never melts all year round, while at its foot is a verdant plain.

A small village is here.

Captain Andalus introduced to Lin En,

These people are the descendants of that small group of agricultural settlers. They still live a mediocre life and are responsible for the lives of the "giants" in the mountains.

Their way of life made Linn feel nostalgic.

These ordinary farmers are responsible for planting crops and raising livestock. They work from sunrise to sunset. They live a simple pastoral life at the foot of the mountain.

The forest on the mountainside grew luxuriantly and rapidly, and it took several years just to clear the entrance and open the road. Every summer, those farmers would leave the fertile fields in the valley, bringing sickles and hoes to cut away the weeds of the year.

and shrubs to prevent them from flooding the roads dug by our ancestors.

Al-Andalus felt this and designed the emblem of the 199th Company to be two sickles.

Lin En and his group passed through the village and went up the foot of the mountain. The entrance was halfway up the mountain and was a huge cave.

After entering, I don't know how the many cave structures inside were formed, but they reminded Lin En of conches.

These rock walls are smooth and soft, without any straight lines or edges. The huge natural caves are connected to each other, and everything is smooth and shiny black.

These black rocks may have been treated in some way, making them last forever and not afraid of water or fire. They are as flat as a black mirror, but they do not reflect anything, not even shadows.

As the group of people moved forward, imperial-style steel plates were occasionally laid at the joints of the caves, and the bare metal printed with the imperial eagle emblem responded to their footsteps with a heavy roar. However, when they stepped on the smooth black rock wall,

There was only an extremely soft sound.

When we walked deep into the cave, a strange golden light suddenly surged and flowed in the cave, which was extremely brilliant!

"What is this?" Linn asked in surprise.

Andalus turned his head and looked in the direction outside,

"Sir, it should be dusk!"

"Every time it's dusk, the afterglow of this world's stars will shine into the cave entrance."

This golden light will flow in each cave and penetrate deep into the mountains, as if golden flames are flowing on the smooth black stone walls!

Lin En and others followed the golden flame and came to a huge cave, which is the core of the Faros Mountains.

The floor of the cave is very flat, and the dome is in the shape of a semicircle.

And in the center of the ground, a huge piece of equipment reaches the sky and touches the ground, towering majestically!

After the afterglow of the setting sun dissipated, this device showed the coldness of black metal and an ominous dark green light.

Linn's heart skipped a beat, "Is this the Pharos system?"
