054 King’s Landing’s reaction

Heller Burrows held his forehead with his hand. He was too tired to continue reviewing the documents on the table. There were too many documents to review, especially the harsh requirements of the military, which made him distressed.

He looked out the window, gray clouds were gathering in the sky of this busy city, just like the day when death knells were tolled all over the city to mourn his "old boss", Emperor Youhong VII.

Heller took a deep breath, pushed his chair away, and stood up. Maybe a walk would clear his mind. He left the office and put on his coat.

A whisper came from behind him: "Your Majesty the Regent, are you going out?"

Heller turned around. Standing at the door of the office was his security chief, a level five extraordinary person responsible for protecting his life.

This chief of police had served the emperor four years ago. After the emperor's assassination, he was once impeached, but Heller still retained him because he was "one of his own."

"No, I'll be back soon. I just need to..." The man who ascended to the position of regent surrounded by countless people cleared his throat, "I just need to wake up."

"So, do you need me to follow you?"

"Everything is business as usual." Heller lowered his head and stroked the collar of his coat and whispered. Being able to escape from this office briefly, even just for a moment, was a relief for him.

The chief of police followed the regent in silence. The two walked into the elevator in silence, descended slowly from the height, and finally reached the first floor.

When he walked out of the gate of the King's Tower, the first drop of rain had just begun to fall, and the umbrella opened beside him. Heller glanced at the guard captain holding the umbrella and thought, when did he get used to needing someone else to hold him even for such a small rain?

Got an umbrella?

It often rains in King's Landing, which gives many outsiders a misunderstanding, that is, people in King's Landing must carry umbrellas when going out. Some even claim that the gentlemen in King's Landing use long-handled umbrellas as their walking sticks. But Heller knows that in King's Landing,

It rarely rains too much. Most of the time, it's just like today, it's just drizzle. People in Junlin rarely hold umbrellas. They will choose to wear long windbreakers similar to the one worn by Heller, and stand them up when it rains.

A collar will do. Hats and collars will block most of the rain. Only ladies and established nobles will pretend to hold umbrellas in such drizzle, or even ask their attendants to hold umbrellas for them.

Once upon a time, he was one of the countless people who walked in the drizzle with their collars turned up. But now, he stood under the umbrella held by others for him, looking into the distance and watching the crowd in the rain.

There are so many people in this city alone, and this is just one of many cities in the entire Central Region. People are under his protection, and it is up to him alone to maintain this shattered empire.

Heller shook his head and sighed, but he knew he had to keep going.

There are always stone statues of contemporary emperors placed in front of the King's Tower. After the death of the old emperor, his stone statue was sent to the tombs of the kings as usual and stood together with the previous emperors. After that, the door of the King's Tower was empty. But

Today, the new emperor is still missing, but there is already a stone statue standing in front of the gate of the King's Tower. Its appearance is undoubtedly a complete replica of Heller Burroughs himself. This is a factory in the second year after he became the regent.

Given to him.

Heller knew that he should have rejected this symbol of vanity, but he didn't. He had the stone statue placed at the entrance of the king's tower, just like the emperors in the past.

Why did he do this? Heller frowned. Naturally, he couldn't remember the specific details, but his thought at the time was: Why can't he put it here?

He is about to give the United Empire new life, and his achievements will surpass those of the past kings and princes. Why should he not be worthy of it?

Now, Heller wondered, might the statue have become a joke?

No, stone statues will not become a joke, only people will become a joke. Has he, Heller Burroughs, become a joke in the Central Region, in the United Empire, and in the eyes of hundreds of millions of citizens?

Heller Burroughs still controls King's Landing, continuing the fragile unity of the United Empire since the end of the "Middle Ages", but the various regions under the banner of the United Empire are facing the dilemma of division.

The Electoral Council agreed with the Grand Dukes is about to convene. The outcome of the meeting may determine whether the United Empire can continue to be united under one flag and one crown, or, when the meeting ends, it will be the beginning of the Civil War in the United Empire.

.

As for the Church of Order... they remained silent. In countless nights when they were suddenly awakened, the Regent thought more than once that the Church of Order, a religious order that truly believed in the "Supreme Will" of the Supreme God, was the most powerful organization in human civilization since its establishment.

Did the reliable guardian really not notice those...little tricks of his?

The regent, who once carried out radical reforms, realized that balancing the relationship between reform and tradition, the central and local governments, and the government and the church was no easy task.

"Your Majesty the Regent! I was just waiting to see you..."

After seeing Heller, a man in formal attire walked over quickly, slowed down at the guard captain's gesture, and finally stopped in front of the Prince Regent. He saluted respectfully and said: "Your Majesty the Prince Regent, we have a piece of news. Urgent news."

Telegram, from Caspars."

"Kaspas...the capital of the Eastern Exile?"

Of course Heller would not forget this place. He had privately criticized the emperor's decree more than once, believing that establishing the Eastern Exile and compromising with the two grand dukes was a foolish move.

"Yes."

"Well, didn't Swift send his son there? I thought he swore that there would be no problem." The Prince Regent smiled. He still remembered that Swift boasted about himself in front of him with a ridiculous belly.

The ancestor is a branch of the Stuart Dukes.

"This, the news is about the imperial minister we are lining up." The man hesitated for a few seconds, then handed over the paperwork, "He... is dead."

"What?"

In an instant, several guesses flashed through the Regent's mind, and several grand dukes were listed as suspects. After receiving the document, the Regent immediately looked through it.

Prisoner abuse case, psychic self-discipline circuit, visionary school...the regent browsed through these words one by one, and finally, his eyes fixed on a person's name.

Both the chief of police and the man noticed that the regent's face had turned pale.

"Vine Noyes..." the Prince Regent murmured the name, "Why is he in Caspars—what does he want to do?"

"I want to go back to the office immediately!"

After saying these words, the regent turned and walked towards the gate of the royal tower. The guard chief quickly followed him, leaving behind a confused man.

After walking a few steps, the regent stopped, signaled the chief of police to come closer, and whispered:

"Help me confirm whether that person is still in King's Landing - you know who I am talking about."
