Chapter 87 Case

The first ray of sunlight in the morning shines on the bed in the bedroom through the gauze curtains. Frank is stimulated by the bright light shining on his eyelids, and temporarily wakes up from his sleep. He turns over, hiding his eyes in the shadow, and plans to continue lying down.

After a while, the warm quilt made people tired and didn't want to get up. What's more, the fatigue after staying up late also reminded how necessary it is to sleep in.

At this time, there was a knock on the door of the living room, and the continuous knocking clearly revealed that the person outside the door did not intend to let Frank continue his dream.

Frank had to sit up, put on his pajamas and slippers, came to the living room, and opened the door.

Pete was standing in the aisle outside the door, holding a brown paper bag in his hand, and the smell of burgers and sausages wafted out.

Peter said to Frank, who was yawning with his eyes closed: "Frank! Another incident happened last night. The scene was in the dock area. They have blocked it. We have to rush there as soon as possible."

Frank let Peter into the room, closed the door and said, "Wait a moment, I'll change my clothes and leave." A few minutes later, Frank had already dressed, picked up his hat and breakfast on the table, and the two of them went downstairs to the street.

After beckoning a carriage or two, the two of them got in. Peter reported his address to the coachman. The coachman waved his whip and the carriage started galloping. Frank stuffed food into his mouth while listening to Peter's account of the situation.

"The unlucky guy must have been very drunk last night. Witnesses saw him and the two men walking towards Hunter Street. You know there are many pocket alleys over there, which are all dark alleys.

In the morning its body was found on a wall at the end of one of the alleys."

"Is the condition of the body any different from before?" Frank asked inarticulately with his mouth full of burgers.

"They said it didn't make much difference. The porters were already waiting there. I told them to follow the rules." Peter said.

The carriage passed through the noisy streets in the early morning and came to an alley while Frank was finishing breakfast. After the two got off the car, Peter paid the coachman the toll and followed Frank into the dark alley. Several people were waiting at the entrance of the alley.

The patrolman and two men in vests had a cart parked next to them. They greeted them and walked into the alleyway.

There are buildings made of cement, rock and bricks on both sides of the alley, and the exposed granite walls are uneven. The sun shines on Hunter Street, where people are coming and going outside, but the alley looks cold and quiet.

After walking more than 40 meters inside, the two came to the end of the alley. There was a man's body clinging to the granite wall opposite.

This is a middle-aged man. He stands with his legs spread apart, his back leaning against the wall, and his hands hanging down to grasp the cracks in the rock wall.

His chest was torn open by something, and the broken ribs were opened on both sides and thrust out of the body, revealing the chest cavity and blood-red lung lobes, but the heart could not be seen. There was only a hole in the heart and a torn artery.

The blood vessels were exposed to the air, and the fractures of the blood vessels were covered with coagulated blood, but there was basically no blood in his upper body.

The man's eyes were wide open and staring into the air in front of him, but no eyeballs could be seen. There were only gray whites in the eye sockets, which looked extremely strange. His mouth hidden in the thick beard was half-open, as if he was saying something.

The two skillfully opened the man's pocket and took out the miscellaneous items. Inside there were some copper coins, a box of matches, a handkerchief, a low-quality pipe and some shredded tobacco in a leather bag.

Peter put these sundries in a brown paper bag and folded it. Frank bent down. He looked at the man's tattered leather boots and pinched them with his hands. Then he stood up and turned around and walked outside.

The head said to Pete: "Let them take the body to the autopsy room and tell Will that I will get the report this afternoon. Do you remember which number this is?"

Pete replied as he walked: "This is the 17th one."

"Has the search warrant been issued? It's been too long!"

"The detective said we can start this afternoon, except for the southern residential area. We can only conduct searches on the other three sides."

Frank took out a pipe from his coat pocket, exhaled and said, "This is expected! Then let's start taking action in the afternoon."

............

After noon, the steam train from York City blew its whistle and slowly drove into the railway station of New Westin Harbor.

After the train stopped, the carriage door was opened. Passengers who had spent two days and one night on the train walked down the platform tiredly, carrying their luggage and walking towards the ticket gate. They had to return their tickets to the ticket gate.

The personnel on duty were released after checking the ticket information.

Carrying backpacks, swords and hunting bows, Steven and Kate followed the crowd slowly toward the exit.

The two people's outfits attracted the attention of many people. After all, people wearing explorer clothes and equipment like them are very rare here. The two ignored the curious and visiting eyes and returned the tickets to the person on duty.

The personnel checked the ticket information and walked out of the train station.

Outside the huge granite building of the station is a square. The place is bustling with people. Small vendors of all kinds are running back and forth selling goods. Newsboys are shouting loudly as they shuttle through the crowd. At the end of the square are parked a dozen carriages, with two-wheeled simple carriages.

There are also four-wheeled luxury carriages, and there are even two cars driven by gas internal combustion engines parked. Its carriage is the same as that of a four-wheeled carriage. There is a driving position in the front, and a large mechanical cover in front of it, and the engine is

Inside this cover.

In addition to horse-drawn carriages and gas cars, there are also many people riding bicycles shuttling in the square. Most of them are postmen and newspaper transport personnel. Some workers working in suburban factories also use bicycles as commuting tools. More than ten years ago, rubber

The application of tires popularized this type of human transportation.

Steven and Kate crossed the square and came to the carriage area. They called a two-wheeled carriage and asked the driver to take them to the dock area on the other side of the city. The two planned to find a hotel in the dock area and rest for a few days.

Sailing boat out to sea.

The coachman whipped up his whip and led the two of them towards the city at great speed.

The construction of New Westin Port began more than 50 years ago due to the immigration frenzy. With the economic development and population increase of the New World, this seaport city with a short history has continued to expand over the decades and has now become the representative of the Yugoslavia in the New World.

One of the three large seaport cities.

Countless sailing ships dock and depart from the pier every day, carrying industrial products from the Grant Continent and new immigrants pursuing their dreams, as well as rubber, tobacco, spices, coffee and other products produced here to the Grant Continent for trade.

The prosperity also brought infinite vitality to the city, and a large number of businessmen and capitalists emerged who seized the opportunity to become rich.

Of course, there are also gangs that have grown up relying on the gray industry. This is one of the largest cannabis wholesale trade areas in the New World. There are many smuggling sailboats cruising in the outer sea. In addition to smuggling illegal products such as cannabis, they can also pick up and drop off inconvenient rides.

Passengers on regular merchant ships.
