15. Facts More Desperate Than Sadness

The atmosphere in the living room became silent.

Terrance's eyes were red and he was holding back tears.

Lu Li seemed to hear the sound of sniffling coming from the space beside him. This might be an illusion, but Anna might really be crying.

"What happens next?" Lu Li asked in a very embarrassing way.

Terrance buried his head: "I cleaned the house and bought disinfectant to cover up the smell. You came to investigate before, but I can't tell the truth. I only told them that my wife was missing...and then you came."

Everything is clear.

Lu Li continued to ask: "Have you ever seen a psychiatrist?"

Terrance trembled all over, his face was hidden in the shadows, and his voice had no emotion: "Do you... think I have a mental problem..."

"No, just to confirm. After all, your current image is not very convincing." Lu Li said calmly.

"So...you believe it?"

Lu Li did not deny it: "You don't have to lie to me, and I know what you said is true."

If he didn't know about the lunatic asylum, even if he became an exorcist, Lu Li might not believe it. But after understanding Richard's plan, everything became a little different, especially when...

Terrance's expression was complicated, and the psychological pressure was released as he spoke, but what Lu Li said next made him stunned.

"By the way, she's waiting for you to come back."

"What did you say?"

Terrance's inquiry received no response. Lu Li stood up, turned and walked towards the door. His slender back blocked the rain on the street. He held up his umbrella and stepped into the rain. The door gradually closed behind him.

Terrance couldn't understand what Lu Li meant by his last sentence, and he didn't even know if the "she" Lu Li mentioned was his wife.

Until an old and strange face suddenly appeared in my mind, and her somewhat strange words...all the answers appeared in front of me.

In a deserted and dark room, a lonely figure sat on the sofa. He held his head and his face was hidden in the darkness.

Starting from a certain moment, a low, unsuppressible sound of choking and crying gradually sounded.

"The old man he was talking about...is his wife, right?"

The yellow-painted carriage left Watchtown and was driven toward the other side of the mountain by a coachman wearing a raincoat.

The rain began to get heavier again, and it seemed that the only sound left in the entire space was the sound of rain.

In the carriage, Anna asked in a low voice.

She remembered that Hall looked like an old man in the end, although it was actually an image caused by excessive decay.

"Um."

"But didn't she want to attack Terrance? Why did she look like she loved him very much in the end and wanted to see him for the last time?" Anna couldn't understand, which made her never know what emotion she should use to face this matter.

"Am I O'Connor?" Lu Li asked strangely.

"No, it's not."

"So why do you think I know?"

Being stared at by Lu Li's black eyes, Anna was speechless.

However, his voice still came to mind in my ears to relieve the confusion: "According to my guess, maybe such entangled behavior is normal. Remember what I said, the side effects of this kind of possession are obvious. The body will rot, and the memory will also be damaged.

It will get mixed together. O'Connor now has the memories of three people, if he hasn't attacked the next victim yet."

"All the memories of a person are crammed into his brain. If the previous O'Connor is called the main personality, and the two victims Ruby and Shelley are called the sub-personalities, he is probably unable to distinguish the main personality at this time.

.He may be one of the three personalities at any time, or a mixture. In this case, after meeting his husband, it is natural for Shelley's personality to emerge."

"Just say no, why are you sarcastic...but it sounds like he might turn into a monster if he continues?"

Anna's soliloquy made Lu Li's eyes narrow slightly and he turned to her: "What did you say?"

Anna felt a little guilty for no reason, and felt that she couldn't give in at this moment, so she put her hands on her hips and yelled out of breath: "Fuck, why are you trying to ridicule me..."

The sound of rain covered Anna's voice, and it only sounded in the narrow car. The inside and outside of the car were like two worlds.

"Next sentence."

Anna asked tentatively: "If he continues to occupy it, he might turn into a monster?"

Lu Li stopped talking and began to think deeply. He vaguely touched some clues, but they were too vague.

He relisted in his mind the three key props of the indescribable thing: flesh, eyes, and tentacles.

"A piece of meat, an eyeball, and a tentacle. What can you associate with these three things?" He asked Anna, hoping that she could bring new enlightenment.

"Octopus!" Anna didn't want to answer. Seeing that Lu Li didn't say a word, Anna asked cautiously: "Am I wrong in answering...?"

"It's okay for you, the problem is mine." Lu Li shook his head gently.

This question is meaningless. Beings that can resurrect the dead and go crazy when people touch them cannot be ordinary creatures.

The indescribable octopus?

It is even more incomprehensible, like an indescribable dog whose meaning is unclear.

But in any case, Richard's plot finally became clearer.

It was approaching noon, and when I returned to the detective agency, the phone on the desk was buzzing.

This scene seems familiar.

"Wow! You finally answered the phone! If you had stayed thirteen and twenty-four seconds later, my number would have been complained and banned from use - do you know what just happened!"

Lu Li picked up the phone and could hear Marcus yelling without putting it to his ear.

"I don't know." Lu Li replied.

"Turn on the radio, this is happening inside!"

Lu Li raised his eyes to look at the radio and reached out to turn it on.

[Morrel let out a loud cry. He was so crazy and full of doubts that he knelt down as if he had seen a scene in heaven and felt dizzy. The next morning, when the sky broke—]

The voice on the radio is telling a story.

"Uh... it's another Hertz... Hey wait, what Hertz are you now? It sounds interesting -"

"Then I'm going to hang up."

"Wait! Wait a minute! Well, let me tell you... you are really impatient. There was a murder not long ago in the Rum District. Five men committed suicide by jumping off an apartment building with severed fingers. Only three of them committed suicide.

The floor is high, and the head falls to the ground first, with a popping sound like cooked jicama - how about it, does it feel familiar?"

"What do you want to say?"

Of course Lu Li knew what he wanted to say, he also knew who the deceased was, and he also knew who the murderer was - because this incident was the result of his connivance.

Lu Li thought that the ghost would fail again and would wait until he could help her solve it.

For example, call the police and send them to jail.

Unexpectedly, the ghost actually took revenge on his target.
