29. The illusion of peace

Clothes shop.

Clothes are neatly classified, and you can see tops, trousers, dresses, hats, and ties here. The colors are mainly dark, with a few light-colored clothes and ties occasionally mixed in. Brightly colored clothing is not included here.

As a civilian clothing store, the clothes here are mainly practical, and the fabrics are more wear-resistant textiles and woolen. Of course, like most clothing stores, this place also accepts tailor-made items.

"Sir, do you want to order it?"

At this time, a middle-aged clerk next to Lu Li asked.

"No, I just want to find something that fits."

After his eyes briefly paused on the shirt and pants, Lu Li walked to the corner of the clothing store. The hangers here were old and gray, and various dark windbreakers that looked heavy and wide were placed in a row.

After a brief search, Lu Li picked up a black woolen coat.

The clerk said politely: "With all due respect, this style of clothes is not suitable for you. It cannot highlight your advantages——"

"I like it very much." Lu Li's voice interrupted the clerk.

Old, old-fashioned, and conservative, this woolen coat looks like the clothes worn by the young people of today's generation, or those who go to the murder scene at dark hours, smoking pipes, wearing top hats, and accompanied by assistants.

It’s something that detectives would wear. If you go out wearing this kind of clothes, you will definitely be laughed at by your peers——

In Lu Li's eyes, he couldn't find any clothes that fit him better than this.

The windbreaker I left on the time floor is similar to it, but a little thinner, and the weather is very cold now.

The clothes had no tags, so Lu Li put them on after confirming that he was wearing them. The sleeve length was just right. When he straightened his arms, a section of the white shirt sleeve inside was revealed. The hem was in the middle of the thigh, perfectly covering the gun holster on his waist.

"That's it, how much does it cost."

"Fifty-three shillings, sir."

It's more expensive than most clothing, and the reason is simple - it uses a lot of fabric.

It may be different for the upper class or the nobility, but the price of clothing among the common people depends entirely on its thickness: How many shillings does a coat to keep out the cold? That's a good deal. How many shillings does a thin summer shirt cost? Are you?

I was tricked again by those girls selling clothes!

When you take money to pay, it takes no more than a minute from entering the store to checking out.

Lu Li did not take off his windbreaker. He kept it on and walked towards the door of the store as the clerk said goodbye. He suddenly stopped and turned around to ask.

"Do you still have this kind of windbreaker?"

"Is that why you bought...one, two, three, four, five...seven coats, seven shirts?"

"If I often get involved in dangerous situations, my clothes will be worn out quickly." Lu Li's answer seemed to make sense.

"But there's no need to buy so much..." Anna looked at the clothes piled up on the bed and felt an indescribable shock: "And they're all the same... Aren't you tired of wearing the same kind of clothes all the time?"

"Same for you." Lu Li's voice came out in an angry voice.

Anna couldn't refute, but she felt that Lu Li was being unreasonable, so she pursed her lips and said, "Aren't we short of money? Why do we have to spend money to buy so many clothes?"

"Have you forgotten, we just got a batch of property." Lu Li stretched his upper body out of the closet, holding a few clothes hangers in his hand: "Have you counted how many there are?"

A little embarrassed and a little embarrassed, Anna's voice was much lower: "One thousand seven hundred shillings, one of them was crushed when folded because it was too new, but I glued it together, so it should be ready for use.

"

"Including what I have, we still have twenty thousand shillings."

Lu Li said as he hung the clothes on the hanger.

"Enough to take us a while."

The last time he felt that shillings were very profitable was when he first came here and dismantled his mobile phone into several parts and sold them to collectors who regarded them as handicrafts.

"Are you going to rest for a while?" Anna floated to the window and sat down, gently shaking her calves and asked.

"Rest? No, I still have something to solve." Lu Li put on the clothes hanger and hung it in the closet, then picked up a new clothes hanger and repeated the previous action.

Before that, Lu Li was looking for Richard to find out the source of the "Gate", but he didn't necessarily want to find Richard. The Night Watchman, the Demon Slayer Association probably had information about the "Gate". But now,

Lu Li, who was attacked by the bloody tentacles, must find Richard as soon as possible.

Before being found by the "door", before the bloody tentacles in his head started to attack.

Anna knew nothing about it. Lu Li's perfect emotional control made it almost impossible for him to notice anything strange, except that at a certain moment, he would silently look out the window into the clouds.

"So what are you looking at? What's in the clouds?"

"Nothing. I'm just thinking about my next move."

Lu Li looked away and put the last shirt in the closet. The last sentence was in reply to Anna's suspicious look.

"real?"

"Well, I never lie to people."

"Then what do we do next?"

"I already know the location of the next clue." Lu Li replied, looking out the window again.

The gloomy clouds and illusory tentacles poked out from the depths of the clouds, connecting the sky and the earth. Where they landed was where Lu Li wanted to go next.

The carriage shook and drove slowly towards the top of the mountain.

As we reach the top of the mountain, we begin to go downhill, leaving the city of Belfast, and the surrounding area becomes desolate and empty at a speed visible to the naked eye.

There are no weeds growing on the ground yet, and the green buds emerging from the dead trees are not enough to infect the gray world here. Under the gloomy rain, this world looks lifeless.

Only the occasional carriage coming from behind or coming from the front can dispel some of the negative emotions.

Lu Li sat in front of the curtain, raised his clothes and looked at the sky. There were six tentacles in the clouds, one of which fell on the back of the mountain, which seemed to be the location of Watch Town.

They are hidden behind the clouds, connecting from the sky to the ground, swinging gently.

What do these tentacles represent? People who have been parasitized by O'Connor or the tentacles? Or is it just random?

"You seem to like looking at the sky very much today..." Anna in the carriage looked away from her book, tilted her head, and looked back and forth between Lu Li's profile and the sky.

She asked many times, but it seemed that Lu Li didn't want to tell the truth, including this time.

"Just looking to see if it will rain."

"All right."

Anna lowered her head worriedly and continued to read the comic book bought by Lu Li without any intention.

To a certain extent, Anna was overthinking. Although the fact that Lu Li was in trouble was not far from what she imagined, the reason why Lu Li didn't tell her the truth was simple: it would be really troublesome to explain.

Silence returned to the carriage, except for Anna's occasional sniffing sound, and the only sound left was the sound of rushing.

Lu Li's gaze returned to the clouds.

In any case, if you get close to one of them, you will know what the tentacles spreading in the clouds are.
