One hundred and forty-six. Flipper prints

Leave marks on the beach and search for food sources.

The former can be easily accomplished when looking for food, while the latter... There are no food sources related to plants and animals on the barren island, so there cannot be any wild cans living here.

The only possibility is on the sea.

Leaving the warm windproof place, the cool sea breeze blew away some of the heat radiating from his body. Lu Li put the empty can under the water point, took off his shoes, held it in his hand, and walked towards the beach near the sea.

Moving along the coastline, the cold waves covered with white foam washed up to his feet, swallowing up Lu Li's ankles, and then took away the footprints behind him as they faded away.

The waves were noisy, but all Lu Li saw was lifeless. Except for shells, he didn't see any living things on the beach. It seemed that a similar situation where plants stopped growing occurred in the ocean.

The problem may exist, but it is not that serious. At least fishing boats from Rodster Port sail out every day.

After walking 200 meters, Lu Li found an unknown whitebait the size of a palm on the light beach. It had been dead for a long time, and the fish carcass had rotted and was inedible.

Lu Li pinched the tail of the fish and continued moving forward with the whitebait. It might come in handy. Even if not, it could keep the area around the windbreak away from possible predators.

After almost 500 meters, Lu Li reached the end of the beach. He continued along the curved coastline and went around to the side of the island.

The landform here has some changes. The brown beach is mixed with some protruding dark rocks, and the density of the rocks gradually increases as you move forward.

These rocks are just the tip of the iceberg, most of them are hidden under the gravel. After Lu Li stepped on a rock hidden under the gravel, he put on his large short boots again.

There were some conches attached to the bottom of the reef near the sea. Lu Li broke off one and found that the conch was empty. He broke off several more conchs around and finally saw the flesh of the conch that was still moving.

Lu Li put it back on the reef. If no other food sources were found, these conchs could be used to satisfy hunger, but they couldn't eat more.

Continuing forward, the reefs became so dense that we needed to take a detour. Looking into the distance, this beach seemed to be covered with a layer of dense black spots, which was ugly and numbing.

But it unexpectedly gave Lu Li a surprise: a waterfront surrounded by rocks.

The water mooring is close to the sea, about ten meters long and wide, only about twenty centimeters deep, and there are no fish in it.

But on the surrounding reefs, there is a waterline that is more than ten centimeters higher.

Now is the low tide period. When the high tide arrives, this mooring will be briefly connected to the sea water.

If the land is able to allow fish in the sea to enter the water pool during high tide, some fish will be left in the water pool after the low tide.

That would become most of Lu Li's food source.

Lu Li also brought stone flakes with him. He used the nearby rocks as a cutting board, cut open the whitebait, chopped it into as fine pieces as possible, and threw it into the water.

Wow——

A small, dense spray of water appeared, and then became calm.

The crumb-like fish meat slowly floated into the bottom of the water. Lu Li took off his shoes, walked around to the exit of the water pool, and built a wall of sand that gathered inward, so that as many fish as possible could survive after the tide receded.

It didn't take much time. After a few minutes, the exit from the water park to the sea was blocked by a sand wall a few centimeters higher than the palm of your hand, leaving only an opening less than half a meter wide.

The water in the lake has become a little turbid, but it will clear up again soon.

After returning to the reef and putting on his shoes, Lu Li took one last look at the water and continued exploring the coastline of the island.

Going around to the north side of the island, directly opposite the wind break point, the beach here has returned to its original appearance without ugly rocks.

The width of the beach here is only more than 30 meters, and the beach is so long and narrow that the sea and the woods seem to be almost next to each other.

Lu Li was walking on the edge of the waves, continuing to look for other food sources, when suddenly a line of footprints came into view.

The footprints are about ten meters away in front of you, and are difficult to spot unless you get close. They extend from the sea to the woods, lying across the front.

Lu Li looked around cautiously and approached the footprints. As he got closer, Lu Li saw the shape of the footprints and also found more messy footprints not far away.

The footprints were shaped like some kind of flippers. Lu Li brought his shoes closer to compare. The footprints were larger than human feet and smelled fishy. Some of the footprints contained some mud from the deep sea.

Lu Li counted the number of flippers on the beach. There were a total of twelve back and forth traces. There could not be more than twelve flippers leaving prints.

These footprints were left recently, probably within ten hours.

Lu Li looked back and saw that his footprints extended from far away to his feet, but when the tide came in, the traces he left would be covered up.

And the good news is that no footprints similar to Lu Li's were found on the cliff.

The flippers who landed on the island have not yet come close to the other side of the island, but if they come again, it will not take long to find the wooden houses and windbreaks on the other side of the rock wall - after all, the island is only a few hundred meters wide.

Lu Li planned to follow the footsteps. He wanted to find out the origin and whereabouts of these beings, and more importantly, whether they would come again.

But just when Lu Li took off his short boots and was about to step on the fins to follow, he felt an uncomfortable feeling in his heart. It seemed that if he stepped into the fins, something bad would happen.

Lu Li followed his intuition, which became increasingly sharp and accurate due to his reduced sanity, but he couldn't just walk into the woods.

If the owner of the flipper prints is intelligent, leaving footprints would be a very foolish act.

After thinking for a moment, Lu Li retreated along the same path, leaving behind a line of footprints that would be swallowed up by the high tide. He retreated to the reef area on the east side of the island, stepped on the rocks and entered the woods, and returned to the area where the footprints were found.

The traces of mud left on the brown and yellow dead grass were quite clear. Lu Li followed these traces while avoiding being contaminated by it. However, as he went deeper into the woods, the traces of mud became less and less until they disappeared completely.

Lu Li walked another hundred meters in the direction they were heading, until he saw a beach and sea appearing in front of the woods, and stopped.

Lu Li, who had lost the trace, returned to the area around the flipper prints. He continued to move forward along the edge of the woods and the beach. After ten minutes, he completed a circle around the island and returned to the foot of the cliff.

The flipper prints only exist in the area where they were first discovered, and their traces and purpose of landing on the island were not found.

This cast a layer of gloom in Lu Li's heart, and also washed away the surprise of finding the water moor.

Lu Li gave up his plan to leave a conspicuous mark. If investigators came to rescue them, they would not let the island go.

After checking the water point, water was still dripping, and he returned to the windproof place.

Just in case, he planned to deepen the bunker and find something to block the windbreak, but only after waking up.

After crawling into a windproof place, the gravel beneath you and the surrounding rock walls were no longer cold and began to emit a comfortable warmth.

After filling a few pieces of damp wood into the fire that could burn for a long time, Lu Li curled up in the innermost part of the windproof place and fell asleep.
