Two hundred and thirty-seven. Quietly changing heart

Woo——

A whistling sound came from outside the closed window.

The sailor stood outside the door. On his carefully raised arm stood a raven the size of a human head. Ordinary crows looked like children in front of it.

The eagle-like crow on the mural at the entrance to the Investigator Base most likely depicts a raven.

"Is this your pet? Mrs. Wright found it standing on your window sill when she came back."

Lu Li turned sideways, and the smart raven spread its wings nearly one meter in diameter, flew into the detective agency and landed on the desk.

Only this huge body can shuttle through the storm.

"Thank you." Its actions already revealed its identity. Lu Li thanked the sailor and closed the door.

Anna went to the kitchen to find bread, and Lu Li walked towards the raven, but didn't find the mailbox on its feet.

At this moment, the jet-black raven raised its beak and let out a sharp, piercing cry: "The stars have returned, the black sun has appeared, and the farmland has fallen! The stars have returned, the black sun has appeared, and the farmland has fallen.

!The stars have returned—"

The raven was imitating human speech, and its high-pitched cry was like the cry of a child, with an obvious accent from the southern part of the main continent. The investigator's headquarters was over there, and it was already clear where it came from.

"What is the black sun?" Lu Li asked it.

"The stars have returned, the black sun has appeared, and the farmland has fallen!"

This move was stupid. Raven ignored Lu Li's inquiry and kept repeating this sentence of fear in a sharp voice.

"I understand." Lu Li replied.

The raven then stopped making high-decibel noises and lowered its head to preen its feathers stained with water drops.

"Crows can actually talk..." Anna came over in surprise holding bread crumbs.

The raven stopped to tidy up, tilted its head, and its dark eyes reflected the approaching illusory figure and the pile of bread crumbs.

As Anna placed the crumbs on the edge of the desk, the raven lowered his head to eat the food.

"Crows can imitate human voices. They are very smart and not as weak as pigeons." Lu Li told Anna.

The raven ate very quickly, pecking at the old desk with its hard beak, taking away the food and leaving a white mark.

Seeing that the raven had finished eating, Anna wanted to go to the kitchen to get some more, but the raven made a loud cry, flapped its wings and flew up, hovering in a circle before landing on the arm that Lu Li had just raised.

It now goes to find the next exorcist to declare.

"I'll send it out," Lu Li said.

After sending the raven outside, Lu Li returned to the detective agency, closed the door, walked to the desk and picked up the phone.

The call to Tesla was transferred to the telephone department, and the staff told Lu Li that the telephone lines in the Belfast area were damaged due to bad weather, and that workers would have to wait until the storm passed before workers could go to repair it.

After hanging up the phone, Lu Li found the biological illustration book from the bookshelf behind him and continued to read.

The hands of the alarm clock turned, the sounds of walking and talking from the corridor gradually disappeared, and the residents fell asleep.

Near nine o'clock in the evening, Anna walked out of the kitchen with a dry blanket and spread it on the sofa.

Lu Li raised his eyes, raised his hand to close the book he was about to finish, walked to the sofa, and raised his hand to untie his tie.

The drying blanket has a warm residual warmth, and the roasted wool is mixed with the smell of wood smoke, which makes you feel comfortable.

After Lu Li lay down, Anna took another blanket and covered Lu Li with her own hands.

In the past, Anna would have been ashamed to do this kind of thing, but now she is very natural. Anna lowered her head and looked at Lu Li, a pair of scarlet eyes standing out in the dimness.

"Good night."

When Lu Li closed his eyes, Anna took her book and sat behind the desk where Lu Li sat during the day, reading quietly.

The longhouse gradually became quiet, with only the sounds of thunderstorms and whistling coming from outside.

On a stormy night, the detective agency was relatively quiet, but the tranquility did not last long before it was broken by a knock on the door.

Knock—knock—knock—

The slow and gentle tapping sound is melancholy.

Lu Li, who was not yet asleep, opened his eyes, looked at Anna, sat up, lifted the blanket and opened the door.

Squeak——

A woman wearing a yellowing burlap white dress stood outside the door, and a little boy stood in front of her. She looked up at Lu Li and begged in a low voice: "Hello, Mr. Lu Li, I am your neighbor Patricia.

·Murphy, I...do you have any extra food? Can you...give us some? I don't have to eat, but my two children have been hungry for a day and a half..."

"Please, Mr. Exorcist, just give us one. My sister is still sick." The little boy also raised his head and begged. He looked too thin.

Lu Li looked at the little boy and his mother, turned his head and said to Anna who was standing behind the door: "Bring some cans."

Soon, Anna brought six cans of canned pork and two cans of fruit. She stood behind the door that mother and son could not see. When Lu Li took it, they only thought there was someone else in the room, and then they were attracted by the small pile stacked up.

Pay all attention.

"This is too much..." Patricia Murphy hesitated, while the little boy stared at the can and forgot to speak.

"These are enough for you to hold on until the storm passes." Lu Li handed it to Patricia Murphy.

"Thank you... Thank you so much. I really don't know how to thank you... Ike, please thank Mr. Lu Li!" The woman could hardly control her voice and choked with sobs as she asked her son to thank her.

"Thank you, Mr. Exorcist." the little boy said quickly.

The mother and son turned around and left, and the little boy's excited cheers, "That's great, my sister will be very happy with the canned fruit!" gradually faded away.

Lu Li silently closed the door.

"What's wrong?" Anna felt the change in Lu Li's mood.

After a moment of silence, Lu Li frowned and looked at Anna: "Do you still remember the story about fish caring? I found that I couldn't save those fish."

A huge storm formed on the sea. Compared with the storm, people are so small. Lu Li who threw the fish back into the sea could not let the fish continue to live.

After all, even he himself could not escape from the beach before the storm came.

Of course Anna still remembered that story. Her expression became gentler and she comforted Lu Li softly: "You did a good job. This is enough. We can't save everyone."

Although Anna couldn't understand why Lu Li was depressed because he couldn't help others, she found that she liked Lu Li more.

Rather than remaining calm and rational all the time, like a monster without emotions, the smell of humanity that appeared in Lu Li at this time made her even more excited.

Lu Li quickly regained his composure and returned to the sofa to rest.

The silence lasted for a while, and was broken again at midnight.

Opening the knocking door, Qiaoqiao stood outside. Although she was wearing a poncho, she still looked like a drowned rat, soaked to the skin. Rainwater flowed from her shoes.

Qiaoqiao's eyes were red, with rain and tears mixed together.

"Something happened to my brother!"
