309. Church basement

The tide around them receded and poured into Sansan Street.

The streets not far away are becoming increasingly chaotic, and several night demons are coming under the clouds.

The six-legged monster lay in front of Lu Li, raising his hands as if offering treasures.

The sculpture of Mother of the Swamp was filled with mist, and only Lu Li could hear the murmurings in his ears, as if they were ringing in his mind.

"I've been watching you... pick it up... don't deny the power..."

Lu Li seems to have encountered the same situation as Tristan.

And Lu Li didn't seem to have the option to refuse.

The six-legged monsters may follow the instructions of the Swamp Mother and come back at any time.

Lu Li stretched out his arm silently, and the counter on his wrist began to vibrate from gentle to rapid as he approached.

An illusory white hand suddenly grabbed his arm. Anna shook her head at him, her scarlet pupils flickering unsteadily.

Lu Li didn't change his mind, but this reminded him. He briefly retracted his hand to unholster his holster, pulled out Sequence 2 and handed it to Anna. Then, like picking up pieces of meat on soup, Lu Li used his holster to scoop up the Swamp Mother sculpture.

Never come into contact with the sculpture.

The holster is engraved with barrier runes, which mainly isolates intellectual pollution. It may not cause the Swamp Mother to lose her connection with the sculpture, but the counter is no longer ringing incessantly and has leveled off.

The six-legged monster that presented the sculpture returned to its original state and quickly crawled towards the street where the three people were fighting.

"Let's go quickly."

Lu Li said, approaching Qiaoqiao and Fran who were in a daze.

I don't know when the Swamp Mother will react.

Or have already reacted.

An indescribable aura filled the air from the sculpture in the holster, and the almost gentle counter accelerated again, with dense rattling sounds.

There was a buzzing in Lu Li's ears, and noisy snowflakes appeared in his eyes. They flickered at the edges of his vision and spread towards the middle.

Lu Li ignored him and quickly approached the church after meeting up with Qiao Qifan.

This phenomenon rapidly intensified, and countless moments of death, prayers, obeisances, and other illusions that were not part of Lu Li's memory began to flash through his mind.

It was as if some kind of existence was descending into Lu Li's consciousness and occupying his thoughts.

Anna immediately noticed something was wrong with the swaying Lu Li, so she supported him and his figure faded into the other world.

JoJo and Fran looked at each other with concern.

"It's okay for now."

Lu Li has long been used to the hallucinations and hallucinations caused by low sanity. Although the erosion of the Swamp Mother makes him uncomfortable, it is not serious.

And he can complete the information about the Swamp Mother through frequent flashes of fragments.

For example, the scene that appears most frequently: Under the huge ancient banyan tree that blocks the sky and the sun, countless six-legged monsters are prostrate and kowtow, surrounded by Yingchuo people in the distance, and even more peripherally is a banyan tree that surrounds the open space.

The ancient banyan tree in the center of the open space revealed a dark hole, exuding a mysterious and strange atmosphere.

With Anna's support, Lu Li walked into the cemetery outside the church.

The mottled stone bricks on the church's exterior wall and the rusty copper bell on the top of the tower silently tell the story of the years it has experienced, but that's where it ends.

There are almost no survivors in Shadow Town, and it is foreseeable that Shadow Town will end up in the future: like more and more villages and towns, it will be abandoned because it is uninhabited, and will eventually be eroded by evil.

This church will eventually collapse due to disrepair and turn into ruins. But until then, it is still one of the strongest and safest buildings in the town.

Groups of tombstones surrounded the church. A few people were walking on the path. Qiaoqiao suddenly noticed that Lu Li in front of him had deviated from the direction. He walked to the trash can under the church wall and threw the holster containing the sculpture of Mother of the Swamp into the trash can.

.

The flickering snowflakes in the sight and the noisy murmurs in the ears gradually fade away as they move away from their source.

The sanity counter returned to normal and gradually stopped making any sound as Lu Li pushed away.

However, Anna still didn't let go of Lu Li, holding his arm, and the three of them moved along the path to the front of the church.

Qiao Qiao stepped forward and pushed the door. The door seemed to be integrated with the space and remained motionless.

Anna waved her hand gently, and there was a dull sound of heavy objects falling behind the door. Qiaoqiao pushed again, and the heavy door was slowly pushed open a gap.

Indescribably, a breeze carrying the smell of corruption and moisture surged out from the crack in the door, and the dust blown out almost blinded Qiao Qiao's eyes.

Qiao Qiao backed away and Lu Li stepped forward and entered the church sideways.

Blood-red light shone into the interior of the church from the broken window. The messy and dilapidated church was simply blaspheming the non-existent gods.

Behind the gate are piles of collapsed benches and a corpse of a Night Stalker.

There were wounds all over the body of the Night Demon. Several pickaxes and forks were inserted into the Night Demon's body. Lu Li looked around the inside of the church, then raised his head and looked at the deepest wall of the church.

The stained window, which may have been inlaid with patterns, completely disappeared, and the podium below was shattered.

A scene then emerged: the Night Stalker smashed through the stained-glass window and entered the church. People who were escaping ran and screamed in panic. The men took up weapons and fought, eventually killing the Night Stalker.

The casualties are unknown because there are no bodies in the church. The blood-red light and red carpet also cover up the traces of blood.

"The wind is blowing from over there." Qiao Qiao pointed to the entrance to the ground from the edge of the podium.

The basement stone door, which has a similar pattern to the wall, is open.

It seems there is no need to ask Fran where the entrance to the basement is.

Fran, who was the last to enter, pushed the church door open. Through the gap, he saw that the fighting between the three people on the street was still going on. As the door closed, the noisy roar coming from the distance was blocked outside the door.

Qiaoqiao and Fran moved benches to block the door, returned behind Lu Li, and walked through the empty church to the basement entrance.

The cool and damp wind blows from the basement to the ground, and the wind is mixed with the sludge-like smell of decay and the faint smell of blood.

But that's not what attracted everyone's attention.

"There is light..." Fran whispered in disbelief, his dead heart becoming hot again.

The steps were crowded with darkness, but at the corner at the end of the steps, there was a faint light from an oil lamp.

Maybe there are still people alive in the church basement!

Fran thought to himself, suppressing his excitement and looked at Lu Li.

"I'm going to take a look." Anna whispered. After leaving briefly, she returned with news: "There is no danger and no one alive."

Fran's emotions were frozen.

Lu Li took out his flashlight and turned it on. A weak beam of light shone out and he walked into the basement.

Silent Jojo and Fran followed behind.

As we approached the basement, the light around the corner became clearer. Even though Fran already knew the result from the ghost named Anna, he still held on to the illusion of luck.

The illusion lasted until he reached the corner.

In front of the wall facing the steps, the bookshelf was removed, revealing a secret passage behind it. The breeze from the Shadow Swamp blew into the basement along the long secret passage.

There was an oil lamp placed on the cabinet next to the steps, and the flame flickered faintly because the kerosene was almost burned out.

Large areas of dried blood lay on the floor and walls.

Apart from them, the basement was empty.
