Forty. Sewers

Coastal Street is one of the streets closest to the coastline in Belfast. In other words, it is the coastline. On one side of the street are various houses extending, and on the other side is the beach with chain guardrails.

Coastal Street is on the north coast, in the upper part of the crescent-shaped bay. There is still some time before dark, and it is a lively time here.

The port of Rodeste is noisy. Fishing boats that have been out all day have returned and docked at the port. Sailors and crew members, smelling fishy in the sea breeze, gather on the entire long street near the coastline, going in and out of taverns, and the shouting never stops.

There are many taverns in the coastal streets, which serve sailors on ships all year round. In other coastal streets, there are more taverns, especially in the Throat Corner Street just in front of Rodster Port.

The sea breeze blowing to the peninsula all year round has corroded the buildings and guardrails, leaving them with a mottled beauty.

At this time, on the beach below, which has a height difference of two to three meters from the coastal street above, five young people gathered in front of the sewer fence, and from time to time, the sound of a conversation was blown up by the wind.

"Why do we have to explore this dirty sewer..." Susan, with delicate makeup on her cheeks, hugged her chest with disgust on her face.

When her good friend Carla mysteriously came to hang out with her and claimed that there were two tall and handsome boys, she thought it was a party and dressed up for an hour, putting on her favorite knee-length lace skirt, but she didn't know until she came out.

They actually went to the sewers to explore supernatural events.

Oh, by the way, one of the "tall and handsome boys" was prying off the chain on the gate.

Sewage flows out of the sewers, flows along special ditches to the seaside dozens of meters away, and mixes into the offshore water.

She almost smelled the nauseating smell - even though the sewage looked relatively clear.

"It's actually not dirty. The other end of this sewer is connected to Agate Lake to prevent excess water in the lake. It is not connected to domestic sewage. You can see the water flow." Beside her, a young man wearing gold-rimmed glasses explained.

"This sewer plays a role in balancing the water level. Once the height of Agate Lake exceeds a certain point, the lake water will be discharged to the beach along the sewer."

There is nothing wrong with this explanation, but he guessed the girl's thoughts wrongly.

"Is this the point?" Susan stamped her feet angrily.

A soft voice behind him continued: "We want to explore... we don't have to go here, right? A new haunted house has opened in Simpe Park, wouldn't it be good for us to go there? I heard that one is also scary."

The young man wearing gold-rimmed glasses pushed up his glasses. "Those are all pretended by the staff, how can they be scary?"

A fair arm hugged Victoria's neck affectionately, and the girl with short dark red hair came close to her face and smiled: "Ben is right. Tricks like haunted houses can no longer scare us. Except for real ghosts, there are no

There is nothing to be afraid of. Susan, are you right?"

Susan didn't know how to answer. She couldn't say in front of everyone that she wanted to go to the party instead of getting into the dirty sewer.

Although it's not that dirty.

Wow——

A sound of shaking chains attracted the attention of the four people around him. Reese stood up from the fence with his palms spread out, his palms covered with dark red rust water.

"The door is open."

After saying hello, he squatted down by the ditch and started washing his hands.

evil……

Susan subconsciously showed disgust and decided to stay away from this man who didn't know hygiene.

Dark red rust spread like silk ribbons in the water and drifted away.

After washing his hands, he raised his eyebrows at Ben: "The door has been opened, are you ready?"

"Wait a minute, it's getting dark soon, aren't you ready to go back?" Victoria suddenly asked timidly, looking very weak and timid.

The sky has begun to darken, the rapid sound of ships echoes over the offshore sea, and the harbor is crowded with ships moored at the shore.

"Don't worry, we have five people and torches, Ben, take them out." Reese smiled.

Ben took out the torch he had prepared, lit it, and walked into the dark sewer first.

Daisy, who had short crimson hair, held the reluctant Susan in her arms, and Victoria followed behind.

The hustle and bustle above the river disappeared, and the only sound of water flowing in the sewer leading to the depths.

The height of the sewer is about two and a half meters, and the damp and uneven walls reflect the light of the water. Slightly turbid water flows quietly in the ditch, while the wind opposite to the water flow blows from deep in front.

Surprisingly empty and clean.

There is still some distance to go before the flood season, when most of this sewer will be submerged, and the water flow will not be as calm as it is now.

The five people walked on the edge of the bank. After walking dozens of meters along the sewer, they could no longer see the light of the exit behind them.

The sound of empty footsteps echoed. The five people walked a certain distance and suddenly noticed a door appearing on the wall in front of them.

"Why is there a door here?" Daisy exclaimed in surprise.

"This is a workshop. A lot of garbage will float along the water from Agate Lake, and it may block something. The staff will come in and clear it out after a while," Ben answered.

Susan suddenly asked: "Then the question is, why do we want to explore a place like this?"

Reese chuckled, his voice a little deeper: "Some poor guys drowned in Agate Lake some time ago. Two of the bodies have not been found yet. Do you think it is possible that they were..."

"Ah! You are going to say that Victoria and I are going back again!"

Susan screamed, and the echo made her eardrums hurt.

"Okay, I'll shut up." Reese rubbed his ears with pain on his face. It was obviously you who asked him to say it...

Susan lamented and looked down at her favorite little skirt distressedly: "So why do we have to explore this dirty sewer..."

"Can't understand."

Lu Li murmured to himself.

The fence door is open, and the rusty iron chain is thrown aside. Noisy voices can be heard from the street above, and the sound of water drifts past.

At the entrance to the sewer, Lu Li knelt down and carefully observed the shoe prints near the gate.

The footprints were clear and messy, and it seemed that a group of young men and women could be seen talking to each other and entering the sewer not long ago.

Obviously, the other party is the group mentioned in the commission.

Standing up, Lu Li looked around. The gray-brown beach without a single human figure seemed dull and quiet in the evening, and was washed away by the hustle and bustle of Lodster Port and the streets above.

Several streets near the coastline are equipped with street lights. As the sky darkens, the surrounding visibility begins to decrease, the lights are turned on, and the ships offshore also light up one light after another, facing the bright coastline.

It's hard to tell whether Belfast is quiet or lively at this moment.

But what is certain is that

Looking back, Lu Li silently lit the oil lamp in his hand, lowered his head and walked into the deep sewer behind the gate.
