Thirty-one. Not smooth

The black cat lay quietly on the blanket spread in the corner of the carriage.

Lu Li was driving the carriage outside the carriage. Anna stared at the black cat that lowered its head and licked its fur. She hesitantly reached out her hand and gently touched the black cat's paw like a tender flower.

The black cat raised its head, sniffed Anna's fingertips, and continued to clean its claws.

"Well..."

The coldness in the flashing scarlet pupils faded away, and Anna tentatively stretched out her other hands to pick up the black cat.

The lower body of the black cat seemed to be stuck to the blanket. As Anna, who held the black cat's armpits, lifted it higher and higher, the black cat stretched longer and longer - until it was completely lifted.

The disturbing red eyes narrowed slightly, and Anna felt the weight of life for the first time since becoming a ghost.

At this time, the traveling carriage stopped. A strange question came from outside the carriage: "Is this Mr. Lu Li?"

A few seconds later, the voice continued to sound: "Richard from the police station asked me to come and stop you. He said that he made new discoveries from his crazy colleague. He hopes that you can go to the hospital to see. Uh...it's No. 913."

Ward.”

"I'll go."

Anna gently put the docile black cat back on the blanket, disappeared and floated out of the car. Looking at the retreating figure, Anna looked away: "Will it be a new clue?"

“You’ll know once you go there.”

Lu Li, who was about to leave the coastal town, pulled up the reins, turned the carriage and headed back.

I asked a passerby about the location of the hospital, and heard the crisp sound of horseshoes approaching the hospital.

Ten minutes later, the carriage stopped in front of a white three-story stone brick building.

After getting off the carriage, Lu Li lowered his head and walked through the sheets and washed gauze bandages hanging on the line, and walked into the hospital corridor.

The familiar smell of disinfectant wafted from deep in the corridor. Lu Li asked the nurse walking beside him about the location of Ward 913.

"On the left side of the third floor." The nurse said. Lu Li's strange black hair and black eyes made it difficult for her to turn away. She subconsciously said: "Do you want to see Mr. Richa from the police station?"

It sounded a little strange, so Lu Li corrected him: "Racha said Anru woke up."

The nurse showed an expression of incomprehensible confusion: "But the patient is Richa..."

Wow——

She looked at the patient list she brought with her and said doubtfully: "Mr. Richard Federman, did you remember it wrong?"

"Is it Richard who went crazy and was hospitalized here?" Lu Li asked after a brief pause.

"Yes, Richard Federman has been staying here for two days."

"Okay, thanks for letting me know."

Lu Li thanked him, and the nurse waved her hand and said it was nothing. When she walked not far away, she looked at Lu Li strangely.

Rachel, who followed Lu Li, was a police officer who went crazy after reading the diary - this incident revealed absurdity and weirdness from beginning to end.

How could a crazy person randomly show up at the police station and take Lu Li and Anna around the town without any police officers or townspeople noticing anything strange?

Unless he fooled everyone in town.

And someone who has this ability and is malicious towards Lu Li...

The void next to Lu Li was filled with invisible aura. Anna's voice was cold and emotionless: "It's that devil..."

As early as Lu Li entered the psychic room and became a bystander of the psychic ritual, he was already being targeted by the devil.

"It shouldn't know that we discovered its true identity. Find it and ask it what it knows."

"No need." Lu Li shook his head gently, looked up at the stairs leading upstairs, turned around and walked out.

"If it wants to do anything, come to us on the Allen Peninsula."

Lu Li had no intention of honoring the devil's appointment.

He must seize the time to solve the problem of the bloody tentacles and successfully leave Belfast by boat for the Lennon Islands before the situation becomes more serious.

There is no need to have anything to do with visitors from hell.

If the devil who killed Ms. Merlin refuses to let Lu Li go, then just like what he said: go to Allen Peninsula to find him.

Anna sheltered Lu Li and returned to the carriage.

Lu Li opened the car curtain, confirmed that the black cat was still in the car, took the reins and left the hospital.

Soon, Lu Li returned to the position where he turned around before. Nothing happened. The devil didn't seem to be chasing him. It seemed that he was still waiting for Lu Li to fall into a trap in the hospital where he had prepared a trap.

"Could the black cat be the devil?"

At this moment, Anna was wary of everything except Lu Li.

"If the devil can be so real, our resistance will be in vain."

Lu Li was sure that the black cat existed. But if it was the devil... its power could easily manipulate Lu Li and Anna.

The carriage stopped here again. As Anna watched, Lu Li called to the postman who was passing by on his bicycle: "Can you send me a message?"

Lu Li handed the postman 10 shillings.

"Of course sir! What do you want to say?" The young postman jumped out of the car, happy to have the opportunity to earn extra money.

"Go to the police station to find the investigator and tell her that this is what Lu Li said: 'I have been targeted by the devil. It should be in the hospital now and stay away from there. If the joint organization has a way to deal with it, please contact them as soon as possible.'"

If the Exorcists United Organization can solve this matter, it will save Lu Li a lot of trouble.

"Uh... of course first... Your Excellency, I will tell you..." the postman stumbled and handed back the shilling hesitantly.

Lu Li said calmly: "You deserve this."

"Thank you, Your Excellency...I'll go to the police station right now!"

The postman said quickly, put away the shilling, pressed down on the brim of his hat and stepped on the pedal, pedaled a few times on the stone road, got on the bicycle, and accelerated towards the police station.

"Let's go too."

Seeing the postman's retreating figure, Lu Li retracted his gaze, pulled up the reins and resumed his journey.

The black cat was still lying on the blanket and licking its hair. Anna had no intention of paying attention to it and was wary of the passers-by around her.

Lu Li still maintained his unchanging calmness, and Anna couldn't understand why he was still so quiet.

"Gate", "bloody tentacles" and "hell", no matter which one, they all make Anna feel depressed, angry, and deeply powerless like the gaze of the abyss.

Apart from fighting, she could only comfort Lu Li from other places, if he needed comfort: "What name should we give the black cat?"

After a moment of silence, Lu Li's voice sounded. "You name it."

"Hmm...is it called a tree hole?"

That's the name of a pet kept by a couple in this love story, but it's a flying squirrel.

"Can--"

Anna suddenly interrupted Lu Li: "Forget it...let's give it a good name when we think of it."

She thought of Anne, who would not be happy if she was called that name.

"Um."

Lu Li thought it was the right decision to bring the black cat - Anna did talk a lot.

In the afternoon, just before it got dark, the carriage drove out of the coastal town and drove along the outline of the deciduous mountains towards the swamp road connecting the mainland and the peninsula.

Behind the forest, two illusory blood-colored tentacles drooped and swayed. Lu Li raised his eyes and stared at them, whispering to himself.

"Hopefully they get to Belfast."
