69. Channels that extend down

The sound does not seem to be language, it continues the same content boringly, like the sound of waves during the tide.

Along with the sound of the waves, the breeze blowing from the depths of the channel seems to bring with it the unique flavor of the coast.

It's not far from the end of the passage.

Is the coast on the other side?

Lu Li thought to himself, biting the handle of the oil lamp, grabbing the edge of the steps, and followed the traces of blood to the next level.

If Anna was here, he wouldn't have to move so hard at all.

The blood stains left by Richard began to no longer be a uniform straight line, but scattered on the steps.

The injured Richard should have had a more difficult climb.

Snap——

After falling to the next level, the sticky feeling on the soles of the feet came through the shoes.

A layer of mud appeared under the feet, mixed with seaweed and scales, and a strong fishy smell penetrated into the nose.

Taking half a step back, Lu Li squatted down with an oil lamp and observed the layer of mud.

The mud will still take a long time to dry up, but it's not just left. At least it was here before Lu Li and Richard came down.

The pitch-black mud and the scales seemed to come from the deepest part of the sea, otherwise where would the strong fishy smell like the bottom of a fishing boat come from.

Lu Li did not touch the strange scales and mud left on the steps by an unknown entity. He rubbed the mud off the soles of his shoes on the steps and moved to the next level.

Brought along by the breeze, the sound of the waves ringing in my ears became clearer and clearer, and Lu Li was not far from the end of the passage.

Bang——

The soles of the feet landed on the ground, and the legs were bent to remove the impact. The gravel kicked up, leaving two sand pits.

At a certain moment, Lu Li actually reached the end of the passage and stepped on the soft gravel. The sound of the tide was no longer covered up, and the sound of waves that echoed day and night filled the surroundings.

Holding the oil lamp, Lu Li turned around and faced the sea.

He appeared on the dark beach. The sky was dark, and there was no starry sky or anything else. It was like a child who was just learning to paint filled the sky with a black paintbrush, and then used this paintbrush to draw the beach and the ocean.

The rich black color should have prevented Lu Li from seeing anything, but he could see the entire beach at a glance, shrouded in pitch black.

It's like an underground ocean here.

Whether it was the passage extending downward behind him, the rugged stone wall with no end in sight, or the dark sky without any light spots, they all gave Lu Li such an illusion.

The beach beside him sunk downwards unnaturally, blood stains condensed on several pieces of gravel, and a line of footprints extended into the distance.

Lu Li seemed to see Richard fall on the gravel, his body covered with sand, then he covered his injured leg and walked away——

A few hundred meters away from the beach, there is a silhouette of shadow.

There is a small wooden house there.

Lu Li was sure it was his first time here, but everything around him gave him a sense of familiarity - especially the small wooden house.

It seemed that Lu Li had just seen it not long ago.

Following Richard's footsteps, Lu Li walked towards the wooden house, and more details became clearer as he got closer.

This is a stilt wooden house only a few dozen meters away from the sea water. When the tide rises, most of the foundation of the wooden house will be immersed in the sea water.

When he reached a hundred meters, Lu Li finally recognized the small wooden house and where the familiarity with the surrounding environment came from.

This is the coastline of the coastal town.

Lu Li suddenly turned his head and looked at the shore. There was only a rock wall that seemed to be connected to the sky, and the original streets and wooden houses were nowhere to be seen.

After staring for a long time, Lu Li looked away and looked at the cabin a hundred meters away.

So that cabin is...

Faint footsteps stopped in front of the steps of the wooden house.

His shoes sank slightly into the gravel. Lu Li raised his head. The familiar sight made him silent.

Blood stains appeared on the wooden steps. Richard was inside or had entered here.

After a brief pause, Lu Li stepped onto the wooden steps. His right hand hung in front of the unholstered gun, ready to be drawn out and fired at any time.

Squeak——

The sound of the old, damp wooden ladder was muffled by the waves.

Amidst the creaking sound, Lu Li stepped onto the last step and reached out to push the wooden door.

Squeak——

Far louder than the wooden ladder, the heart-wrenching sound started and stopped suddenly. The friction between the damp and swollen wooden door and the floor made it difficult to open the door.

The wardrobe, bed, desk, windows, everything was no different from what Lu Li had seen before.

Only the floor in front of the bed, the dark hole that looked like it was painted or burned, became a real existence, bottomless and deep.

The light poured on it, as if swallowed by the hole, disappearing completely.

A rope was tied to the wooden leg of the bed, and the other end extended into the hole, with blood that had not yet dried scattered around.

Richard had also been to this wooden house, and it seemed that not long ago, Richard used a rope to climb into the hole.

Lu Li walked into the wooden house and closed the wooden door with his backhand.

The sound of the waves outside gradually weakened, and as the flame of the oil lamp swayed, the shadows in the wooden house swayed, making Lu Li inevitably think of the diary with the paradoxical contents.

But it was impossible to hide anyone in the wooden house, except for the dark hole next to the bed.

It seemed as if a wind from the abyss was blowing up.

Lu Li walked around the hole, walked to the bed legs where the ropes were tied, and pulled Macheng.

The other end that was submerged in the hole had no weight. Soon, only a meter long hemp rope was pulled out from inside.

Richard is not down here.

And he wanted to confuse Lu Li.

But since Richard still has time to lay traps, it means this place is not as dangerous as Lu Li thought.

At least there won't be unavoidable dangers.

Knock knock knock——

Then, three neither fast nor slow knocks sounded outside the silent wooden house.

Lu Li stood still, raised his eyes, and looked at the door where there was a knock on the door.

Fortunately, Lu Li closed the door. The trouble was, the door was just closed...

The final sound of the knock on the door dispersed, and a dead silence fell inside and outside the wooden house.

While observing quietly, Lu Li suddenly raised his head slightly and sniffed gently.

The air coming from the door suddenly carried a fishy smell.

Lu Li thought about the mud scales he saw in the passage. Does this mean that the existence outside the door is related to it?

Knock knock knock——

Tens of seconds later, the knock on the door rang again.

The presence outside the door has never left, as evidenced by the increasingly strong smell of sea.

Lu Li seemed to see the deformed figure with scales standing behind the door through the gap in the wooden door.

It knows there is someone in the cabin.

No longer paying attention to the abyss hole, Lu Li walked around it gently, approached the window behind the desk, and gently pushed it open.

The sound of the waves became clear again, and Lu Li turned back, waiting for the knock on the door to ring again.

Knock knock knock——

When the knock on the door rang for the third time, Lu Li used the sound to cover up the sound, climbed out of the window, and jumped into the beach.

The oil lamp swayed, distorting the surrounding shadows. Lu Li looked at the door of the wooden house from below, but it was difficult to see anything clearly.

Lu Li planned to observe the presence of the knocker, but before that, he had to distance himself from the wooden house.

Lu Li moved backward slowly, but Lu Li's heel suddenly hit something hard.

The strong fishy smell and coldness instantly enveloped Lu Li from behind.
