Ninety-two. Traces

Even if it's almost charred, the smell of the demon's meat cannot be concealed.

Richard couldn't tell whether it was the meat that was more palatable, or the undigested parts of the vomit.

With a temporary safe place to live and a source of food, Richard's scope of exploration began to increase. In order not to lose his way and to find other "living people" in hell, Richard built many stone towers around the crater.

Then ten days passed.

There is still more than half of the demon's body, and everything in hell can only burn, but not rot. So it is still relatively fresh - but it is about to be roasted into dried meat by the scorching heat.

Richard didn't want to eat and wait to die anymore. He felt like he was becoming a beast, so since he woke up today, he has been cutting up the demon's body and making it into dried meat.

When he wakes up "tomorrow", he will take more than ten kilograms of dried meat and go to the other side of the mountain range, and then walk as far as he can.

"You're hard to find."

Suddenly, a familiar human whisper sounded from behind.

In front of the bonfire, Richard, who was cutting the demonic corpse with pieces of stone, suddenly straightened up and raised his head stiffly.

After looking at each other for a few seconds, Richard laughed maniacally: "You are actually dead too, hahahaha! Let me guess, you couldn't resist the temptation of the ancient god's body in the end? Or was there something unexpected outside that killed you?

Got you...do you realize now that you were wrong!"

At least judging from his words and deeds, Richard is still "normal" and has not transformed into a demon.

"I didn't die, I just channeled my soul to hell." Lu Li replied calmly.

Richard now looked like a savage. His eyes passed over the demon corpse being cut up in front of him and looked at the marks carved by Richard on the surface of the meteorite buried in the scorched earth.

Maybe every trace represents a day he spent here.

But is there night in hell?

"Psychic? Damn it..." Richard showed obvious annoyance and looked at Lu Li unkindly: "Hey, I'm lonely here, if I leave you here..."

Except for the thin soles of his shoes and the holes in his clothes, the guy in front of him was better than his miserable self in every aspect, which made Richard very unhappy.

And what is the possibility of actually planning to keep Lu Li?

501…502…503…

Lu Li suddenly frowned slightly and looked down at the inverted pentagram glowing red on the back of his hand.

The devil is not far away and there is no time to reminisce.

"I'm here to see you. I have something to ask you." Lu Li ignored Richard's entanglement and spoke directly.

"What do you want to know? Oh, by the way, there are no damn succubi in hell! There are only lava and these ugly monsters! If you find the guy who wrote that there are succubi in hell, feed them to the evil spirits for me!"

Halfway through, Richard suddenly cursed.

"Maybe you haven't encountered it." Lu Li replied. Both Richard and himself were limited to the canyon and the foot of the mountain.

"Why should I help you!" Richard, who couldn't understand it with conventional thinking, suddenly said in a sudden leap, as if he refused to help Lu Li.

"I am the only one who knows your obsession. You and I have the same goal."

Richard sneered at Lu Li's eloquence: "It's useless. You know I just want to be the savior myself. If it's not me, what does it have to do with me even if someone saves everyone?"

hiss--

Lu Li suddenly covered the back of his hand that was making a burning sound. The strong red light of the five-pointed star could no longer be concealed and bloomed through his fingers.

Richard's eyes fell on it and he saw the patched hat being held by Lu Li, and his crazy expression suddenly calmed down.

"...Have you gone to see the children?"

"Um."

Lu Li endured the severe pain on the back of his hand and looked around, looking for the devil.

"Are they okay..."

"I was placed in an empty house in the Elm Street neighborhood. The sewers were too dangerous."

"Don't think that I will help you!" Richard suddenly yelled at Lu Li.

Lu Li ignored him, raised his head slightly, and looked in the direction he came from.

Outside the crater, a figure wearing a noble tuxedo and out of place was walking slowly.

Flames flowed in the footsteps behind him, an indescribable sense of suffocation emanated from its body, and countless illusory arms emerged outside its body, entwining its soul.

"536...537...538..."

There are less than three minutes left before the agreed time to wake up, but the devil has arrived.

Lu Li discovered that those arms were not the embodiment of the devil's power - they kept emerging, pulling on the devil's body and limbs, slowing down its speed.

This is why the devil comes so late.

Lu Li knew what those were.

"I have to leave." Lu Li said.

He couldn't fight a devil, in hell.

"What do you want to know? For the sake of those children!" Richard suddenly said through gritted teeth.

Lu Li looked at the devil walking down the crater from a distance and said, "What is the 'door'?"

"What is the door? What nonsense are you talking about? Be more specific!" Richard urged, looking even more anxious than Lu Li.

"You asked me to do a commission when you were disguised as Marcus, to protect a group of people who were exploring the sewers. There I came into contact with the 'door' and received a curse more terrifying than the bloody tentacles."

"I don't know what you're going to say! I didn't even know you at that time!" The unexpected answer came from Richard's mouth: "I was short of money at that time, so I found you because you were the cheapest and naive

——I didn’t know who you were at all. It wasn’t until you broke into the lunatic asylum and was caught by me and escaped, that I knew it was you, bastard, who ruined my plan! Damn bastard!”

Richard roared and fell into madness again.

Lu Li frowned deeply as he looked at the figure in a tuxedo walking towards him step by step with an evil aura.

If Richard didn't lie to himself...then the encounter with the "Gate" was just a coincidence from beginning to end?

"There is another possibility!"

Richard suddenly shouted again: "Listen, my memory may have been tampered with. You know those monsters. They are like omnipotent. They roughly stuff their tentacles into your head and then dig out pudding with a spoon.

It's easy for them to dig out a bunch of memories."

"Then what."

"Maybe this is also a test!" Richard said hurriedly: "Only you can do this test, others can't even know it, and their memories will be changed!"

This kind of speculation could only be thought up by a paranoid lunatic like Richard. But logically, Lu Li could not find any loopholes in it.

Because the investigator headquarters, which should also know the information about the "Gate", has received no news from the beginning to the end.

This coincides with Richard's guess.

"I'll consider it."

Exhaling the turbid air that smelled of hell's sulfur, Lu Li looked deeply at the figure in the distance.

"It's time for me to leave now."
