Fifty-five. The dead are resurrected

Lu Li turned his head and saw the newspaper carriage passing by him.

The continuous drizzle was seriously inconsistent with the dense clouds and lightning overhead. The oil lamp was covered with water stains, and the light became hazy.

Lu Li reached into his arms and took out his umbrella, opening it with a bang, covering it from the drizzle.

The curtain opened a corner, and Anna hugged her knees and sat quietly on the edge of the car behind Lu Li, then stretched her neck out of curiosity.

Lu Li took out the patient information and opened it.

Dust slid down from the gap between the papers. Seeing this, Lu Li simply stretched out his hand to shake off a piece of dust that had been left behind the carriage.

After taking back the patient's information, Lu Li read it at a glance.

Lu Li's quick reading aroused doubts.

"You read so fast...can you remember these?" Anna sounded suspicious.

"I just need to find Edward's name." Lu Li said without raising his head.

The dirt road was a little bumpy, and the font on the paper was very small, otherwise Lu Li could read it faster.

When Watchtown came into view, Lu Li successfully found the information about the key person entrusted to him: Edward.

Edward Benn, a native of Belfast, was diagnosed with delirium and sent to the Sixth Mental Hospital. Later, as his condition worsened, he attacked medical staff and tried to escape from the hospital. After escaping from the hospital, he violated a poor cow and was killed.

The owner of the cow was beaten to death. Because his family's address had changed and he could not be contacted, there was no further follow-up.

Until his cousin remembered that he had a brother who was staying in a lunatic asylum, and contacted detectives to investigate.

Lu Li alone tore out the page with Edward's information from the entire book, folded it up and put it in his arms.

He threw the patient information back into the carriage.

Maybe it will come in handy, but even if it doesn't, it would be good to use it to light the fire.

After doing this, Lu Li tilted his head slightly and looked at Anna, whose clear eyes were staring at him without blinking: "Is there any problem?"

"Tell me what happened before you went in, and what happened to the injury on the back of your head." Anna, who had suppressed her curiosity for a long time, said impatiently.

Curiosity killed Anna.

"I was knocked unconscious." Lu Li replied.

Anna was stunned in the back seat: "Huh? You can actually be knocked unconscious."

"Hmm. I thought it was a supernatural incident, but I didn't expect it to be a living person." Lu Li briefly described the situation he encountered after going alone.

"Pfft, this is a mental hospital. You can definitely guess that there are mentally ill people hiding here, right?" Anna looked down upon Lu Li from a rare intellectual high ground.

Lu Li did not refute and admitted his shortcomings: "The problem does lie with me. I'm not used to distinguishing between the world of ordinary people and the world of exorcists."

His thinking is becoming a little paranoid.

Perhaps because he had been dealing with ghosts recently, Lu Li subconsciously blamed the strange phenomena on ghosts rather than man-made things.

If it were Lu Li who had never come into contact with ghosts and exorcists, I am afraid that this kind of incident would be characterized as man-made trouble by Lu Li from the beginning. At the same time, it would be infinitely close to the truth of the matter: a lunatic is plotting something in an abandoned lunatic asylum.

Overall, Lu Li's handling of the supernatural incident revealed a huge shortcoming.

Fortunately, he still has a chance to make corrections.

"I really want to hear the police say that we are in danger, is it true?" Shen Yuqiao asked.

Lu Li nodded: "The unknown is more terrifying than what is revealed."

The most terrifying time for an enemy is not when it is strong, but when it is hiding in the dark.

Fortunately, the detective agency has Anna as housekeeper. Although she looks like a mascot that can only be used as a decoration - it's enough to scare some people.

Of course, Anna cannot know the above content, at least not in the second half.

"Hmm...Athena, is her husband in the patient information?" Anna still remembered the poor woman and child in the gallery.

"No. Her husband has no mental problems and has never been a patient."

Lu Li replied, thinking slightly about his previous conversation with the police officer named Vincent.

"Go back quickly, it will be troublesome if it rains heavily." Officer Vincent squinted at the sky, looked away and said: "We will keep in touch with you at any time in the future, and we hope you can beware of the murderer."

"I will." Lu Li nodded, took off the blanket and put it in the back of the car. "By the way, I want to ask, have many people disappeared here recently?"

"Yes." Officer Vincent nodded and asked the young police officer who took the records to go to other places to help. He stayed and explained: "There have been more than a dozen missing cases here recently. We are comparing the bodies. There is no accidental murderer.

It's probably that Richard. If it weren't for your help, more Watchtown residents and nearby travelers might have been victimized. Thank you for your help to the Watchtown Police Department."

"I should."

In Athena's previous account, Bill Eddy was also one of the missing persons. The only difference was that he returned home a few days later.

Gently tapping his fingers on the wooden board under him, Lu Li put together the clues he had collected and sorted them according to his imagination.

[Missing people around the asylum] [Capture living people for experiments] [The experiment involves using the human body as a container] [Bill Eddy disappears] [Bill Eddy returns a few days later] [Bill Eddy kills Assi shortly after his return

Na] [Bill Eddy disappeared again] [Bill Eddy’s missing location is still near the lunatic asylum]

Lu Li realized that he was close to the truth.

After Bill Eddy returns from his first disappearance...is the husband Athena sees really her husband?

Is there another soul hidden under that skin?

The overall clues have been smoothed out, but some questions remain unresolved. For example, why did Bill Eddy say that Athena killed her when he attacked her?

Fortunately, Lu Li didn't need to rush to find out the truth of the matter.

"What did you think of?" Anna tilted her head and asked.

"Um."

Lu Li told Anna the horrifying truth that he pieced together.

"A guy who tried to resuscitate the dead...and seemed to succeed."

Hospital, basement level.

In the operating room, several figures gathered in front of the gap in the wall, and the raised oil lamps illuminated a figure lying on the ground.

A police officer was lying in the corner, reaching deep into the hole with his hands, struggling to drag something out.

During the search, the police easily found this conspicuous hole in the operating room, a key location. After searching other places, the police gathered together to try to explore.

They saw something in the deepest part of the hole.

The police officer with the longest arm was patted to reach for it. His thin clothes rubbed against the edges of the stone. With a muffled groan, he grabbed the deepest thing in the hole and dragged it out bit by bit, revealing it in front of everyone.

Officer Vincen's pupils, who were standing aside, suddenly shrank into pinpricks of light.

"What the hell is this...?"
