140. Michael Tesla's Past

Is Rhodes trustworthy?

Maybe.

At least Rhodes' identity gave his words credibility, and he seemed to be aware of Anna's existence.

Kig Foley and Ma Fulin made no excuses. This is the mainstream perception in the exorcism community, and it is even more deeply ingrained in the exorcist family.

They all knew something about the story of Michael Tesla, and although the choice of combining it with the weird made them feel uncomfortable, hiding away on the Allen Peninsula was the best choice for everyone.

The bonfire was burning brightly, but the party was coming to an end.

Before leaving, Rhodes stood up and picked up the oil lamp: "Uncle Michael asked me to tell you something."

Tesla guessed they would come to the Exorcist Council?

Lu Li thought of asking Anna to push the wheelchair to follow Rhodes.

"Michael only asked Mr. Lu Li to listen to these words." Rhodes said to Anna.

Fu Lai and Ma Fulin, who looked curiously, looked away and packed their things.

"Tesla knows me." A cold voice came from under the cloak.

"He only asked me to tell Lu Li..." Rhodes felt a little embarrassed.

"We won't leave too far." Lu Li and Anna said, following Rhodes out of the bonfire range.

Far from the bright fire, darkness invaded, and the oil lamp in his hand was suppressed, weak and inconspicuous. In the darkness, a sound like the tide came from the pebble beach by the lake.

Lu Li was thinking about what Tesla wanted to say.

Was he worried that Lu Li wouldn't understand the meaning of the letter and asked his nephew to remind him, or was it another matter?

Gala——

Stepping on the wet cobblestones, Rhodes stopped.

Some evil spirits are lingering under the lake not far away. They are drowned ghosts. They are difficult to eliminate because they are hiding at the bottom of the lake, but they cannot come ashore.

"Sorry, I used Uncle Michael's name to lie to you."

Lu Li looked at Rhodes calmly: "Tesla doesn't have anything to tell me?"

"Yeah. He lost contact after he went to the shelter." Rhodes looked at Lu Li seriously: "He mentioned you to me many times, I think you must know what is going on."

"Just some guesses." Lu Li replied.

The truth he guessed was too desperate and would not be believed by anyone - who would believe that the three major organizations that had protected mankind from being invaded by weirdness for hundreds of years chose to abandon everyone outside, leaving only the fire in the shelter.

"Then the result was not good, right?" Rhodes smiled. He had asked his father and other family members, but they were all silent, as if they were deeply taboo about this.

Lu Li was about to say something, but the wheelchair suddenly sank.

The pebble beach without gravel could not support a wheel that was too thin. The wheel sank into the pebbles, and Lu Li in the wheelchair also fell forward - in front of him was the Xinghu Shoal.

thump--

The sound of falling water broke the calmness on the lake, and ripples in the darkness swayed toward the center of the lake.

Wandering under the lake, like a bunch of water plants, the drowned ghost sensed the scent of prey and swam toward the shallows.

The shoal was just deep enough to cover his knees, but when Lu Li tried to stand up, his soul separated from his body - his body fell into the water, but his soul stood up.

Rhodes, who was about to help Lu Li up, was shocked by the scene in front of him: "Why does the soul..."

The drowned ghosts at the bottom of the lake swarmed into the shallows, their illusory and ugly bodies beneath their seaweed-like black hair. They stretched out their claws, grabbed Lu Li's soulless body, and dragged it to the center of the Star Lake.

At this time, an afterimage suddenly passed by Rhodes, and the permeating aura almost froze his soul.

The drowned ghosts that dragged Lu Li's body fled in all directions, and a greedy drowned ghost that didn't want to let go of the delicious food shattered along with the surrounding lake water.

The huge waves caused by the power even briefly exposed the river bed. Anna walked ashore with Lu Li, who had returned to his body, and the falling lake water splashed, beating Rhode into a drowned rat.

Rhodes' soaked body suddenly froze, and a feeling of suffocation and oppression surged into his heart, like facing an evil spirit, and then faded away like a tide in the blink of an eye.

"Anna."

Lu Li, who was in her arms, called her softly: "It has nothing to do with him, I slipped down on my own."

The oppressive feeling dissipated and Rhodes, who could breathe, quickly apologized and said: "I'm sorry... I was disturbed by that scene..."

Recalling the scene where Lu Li's soul and body were separated, Rhodes paused again.

"The sequelae of going to hell, so I am in a wheelchair." Lu Li explained.

Anna put Lu Li, who was also soaked, back into the wheelchair and returned to the fire to warm himself.

"What happened?"

When Fulai and Ma Fulin heard the noise and came over, Lu Li had already been rescued ashore. They also asked the soaked Rhodes.

"Lu Li fell into the lake..." Rhodes replied bitterly. The two guys thought he had rescued Lu Li, so they breathed a sigh of relief and patted his shoulders.

The party that was supposed to end had to be extended for an hour until Lu Li and Rhodes' clothes were no longer wet.

During this period, Ma Fulin told a few more short stories, but Rhodes, who had been silent, made the atmosphere not as harmonious as it was at the beginning.

After extinguishing the fire and leaving the hill, the four of them would part ways on the street.

"It's my fault... Fortunately, the assistant arrived in time."

Lu Li took back the carriage that he had left at the car dealership. Before leaving, Rhodes looked apologetic, bowed his head and said, "I owe you once."

"It's okay." Lu Li replied calmly. Anna took the reins and drove the carriage back to the hotel.

Rhodes ignored the confused Fulima Fulin and left in silence.

The royal city is known as the city that never sleeps.

Although it is not as beautiful as looking at Belfast from the sea, the vastness and shock far exceed the former.

There are even businesses and tourists and residents hanging out on the streets, as if the crisis is never approaching.

Near nine o'clock, the carriage returned to the hotel downstairs.

Lilia, who had been waiting for them all night, went back to sleep next door peacefully, while Lu Li changed out of his clothes that were stained with mud. He thought Anna would avoid it, but he watched her change without blinking.

Although Anna was responsible for Lu Li's daily life for a while at the refuge, during that time they were extremely close to each other.

"It was just an accident." Lu Li knew that Anna had not escaped from the previous scene.

"He shouldn't be in a daze..." Anna replied coldly.

"Everyone has accidents sometimes."

"You almost died because of him."

"You were there, so it wouldn't be."

"I will never forgive him." Anna just whispered.

Anna's current personality was caused by Lu Li alone - Lu Li, who was unable to dissuade her, had to use another method.

Stare at her.

So Lu Li stayed up all night. Fortunately, he had a few books to pass the time, so the night was not too boring.

And Anna could only stay in the room and accompany Lu Li all night, even though she would do this every night.

A peaceful night.

Early the next morning, Lu Li, Anna, and Lilia went downstairs to have breakfast, and a carriage stopped in front of the hotel.

The panicked Fu Lai got off the carriage and came to Lu Li, bringing him bad news.

Rod is dead.
