164. Clean up the hotel

Incredibly, they could still rent carriages on the streets, and the currency they paid was shillings instead of flesh and blood.

However, Lu Li in the carriage whispered to Anna that those were not horses - although the weirdness preferred humans, other flesh and blood could also satisfy the appetite.

Perhaps not even a real mouse can be found in the royal city at this moment.

The horses pulling the carriage were disguised as ferocious reptiles with many legs like centipedes, crawling quickly on the bluestone road while swinging their tentacles as thick as arms.

The carriage drove through the damp and dark broad streets. Lu Li, who was standing by the window, kept observing the streets and the Upside Down City. The situation became worse than an hour ago. The streets were almost full of disguised weirdos, and almost no human beings could be seen.

There was even a confrontation that attracted the attention of onlookers, and both sides were suspicious of each other and were disguised in weird ways.

Hopefully people are just aware of the dangers out there and nothing else.

Twenty minutes later, the carriage arrived near the Curious Grocery Store. In the former location of the Situs Public Library, the outline of the construction site pointed sharply toward the sky in the darkness.

This construction site may never be completed.

After getting off the carriage, Lu Li and Anna walked into the weird grocery store under the greedy gazes of the horses behind them.

Click——

The lampshade fragments of the overturned oil lamp were trampled under his feet. Lu Li lowered his eyes and looked around the grocery store.

The store seemed to have been ransacked not long ago, with shelves collapsed, counters moved sideways blocking the path to the basement, and crushed debris and rubbish strewn around.

But there is no homologue, as if someone calmly put them away in times of crisis.

This gives the grocery store a disguise.

Looking at each other, Lu Li walked towards the grocery store. Anna pushed aside the counter that was blocking the way and discovered a little detail: some tools were coincidentally pressed against the back of the counter.

After clearing the obstacles, Lu Li and Anna arrived at the basement entrance.

"You stay here, I'll go down." Anna said.

"Together." Lu Li picked up the holster and handed the kitchen knife to Anna.

Anna, who said nothing, took the kitchen knife and walked into the dark and silent basement with Lu Li.

The sound of footsteps echoed, and the coldness beneath the ground caused a layer of pimples to form on the skin.

After stepping on the last step and standing on the flat ground, the empty and gray hall was filled with a thin mist, and seemed to be deserted——

Da da da——

The sound of footsteps that did not belong to them suddenly echoed deep in the hall. In Anna's curved eyes that gradually turned cold, several figures covered in blood emerged from the darkness.

"Another prey has arrived..."

Cold whispers spread along with whispers.

Lu Li's response was to lift his coat, revealing the salvation around his waist.

If it's human, they'll recognize the psychic guns. If not, Anna and Redemption will bury them.

The blood-stained figure stopped in its tracks. At this moment, a man holding an oil lamp that emitted a dark light walked out from between them, and his face could not be seen clearly.

"The Exorcist?"

A low voice of inquiry echoed.

"Senior Investigator Lu Li." Lu Li said.

The man surrounded by the gray mist nodded slightly: "True Vision Night Watchman, Uri Reinhardt Vickers."

The third level exorcist is only one step away from becoming the legendary spire.

But why would the Night Watch appear at the investigator base?

And is his identity true?

"Like you, I have lost contact with the United Organization." Reinhardt Vickers seemed to have guessed what Lu Li was thinking. "They can't be found in the Night Watch office, the Demon Slayer hut, or here.

"

"Resolved by Weirdness?" This bad news made Lu Li frown.

"It's not like, I didn't find the body or the mark. They are more like..." Reinhardt Vick did not say the next words, but instead said: "I have heard about you, do you want to join us?"

Reinhard Vick's invitation seemed rash at this moment when people were suspicious of each other. Lu Li glanced at the blood-stained figures and asked, "How can you tell them apart?"

"It's very simple. Weirdness cannot kill weirdness in paradise." Reinhardt Weck replied, gently patting the back of the hand holding the oil lamp.

Another figure walked out from the edge of darkness. On the plate he was holding were a psychic gun and ten silver-plated bullets.

"Please prove your identity, Mr. Lu Li."

Lu Li silently watched the figure getting closer and closer to him, and suddenly shook his head gently: "No need, I don't plan to join you."

Perhaps it was an illusion, but the atmosphere among these survivors felt depressing and strange.

And they don't know anything.

"You can't leave."

When he turned around and was about to leave, Reinhard Vick's voice came from behind.

"Imprisoned!"

"Catch this defector!"

"Don't let them leave!"

Fanatic shouts suddenly echoed in the underground base, and the survivors surged with excitement with ferocious faces, and then paused at Reinhardt Vick's words.

"Everyone stop."

The low voice drowned out all the angry shouts. Reinhardt Weck, who was holding an oil lamp in the darkness, was like the protagonist under the spotlight in a drama, as solemn as a priest. He looked at Lu Li and Anna calmly, sculpture-like.

There was no emotion on his face: "I won't imprison you, but I hope you won't tell anyone about us after you leave."

"Including joint organizations?" Lu Li asked.

"Including syndication."

"I will." Lu Li nodded. "But for what reason."

"Let them leave." Reinhardt Wick did not answer Lu Li's question, but said to the survivors: "Then close the door, we don't need anyone else anymore."

Lu Li and Anna retreated to the steps, and the survivors who became extremely fanatical and excited because of Reinhard Vik's last words pushed the heavy iron door to seal the passage to the ground.

"Remember us, Lu Li."

Suddenly, a sigh-like whisper echoed out, and when Lu Li heard it, the heavy iron door had already closed heavily in front of him.

The surging dust quickly returned to silence.

Before the entrance, Anna frowned and said: "Something's not right with them..."

Lu Li recalled Reinhard Vick's last words - Tristan also said similar words.

"Leave."

He said nothing and walked out of the grocery store with Anna back to the street.

"Where to go next?" Anna asked, waiting for the thoughtful Lu Li to answer.

Regardless of whether Reinhardt Vick is Reinhardt Vick or not, the news he revealed is probably true: there is no one in the three major organization bases.

Lu Li didn't know whether the Exorcists United Organization sensed the danger in advance and left, or if they had some secret plan, but it was obvious that Lu Li had difficulty finding them through superficial clues.

"Go back."

Lu Li said that all he could do now was search for survivors and clean up the weird things around him.

As for those mysteries, the meaning of the Upside Down City Paradise, the three missing organizations, and the plans of Tristan and Reinhardt Wick——

Obviously everything has not been revealed yet.
