223. Belfast Today

Fortunately, Robbie Rudeneff was not a nearby resident who took refuge in the newspaper office.

Robbie Rudneff is the night watchman at Belfast Today newspaper. However, more than ten years ago, he was one of the most efficient workers at the newspaper. Even two or three good guys could not print as fast as him.

one.

He originally thought that ink and machines would last him until he was too old to move. However, three or four years ago, the newspaper office carried out an update and replaced the manual printing machines with cheaper and faster automatic printing machines.

Robbie Rudneff retired as a result. Fortunately, the newspaper owner was a kind-hearted man. Although he sold almost all the manual machines and fired most of the old guys who had worked for more than ten years, he kept him.

Maybe it's because the boss knows that he used to be a great guy.

Of course, occasionally when the power went out, Robbie Rudeneff would take out the only manual printing machine in the basement and be busy.

Robbie Rudneff had no children. He thought he would work until the day he was too old to move. Then he sadly chose to leave when his boss persuaded him to stay, and took the shillings given by his boss to travel everywhere.

He wanted to go to Himfast. He heard that it was a capital of art and the smell of ink was everywhere - he wanted to know if the smell of ink there would be stronger than that of a newspaper office.

But before that time came, a sudden disaster at night changed everything. Robbie Rudeneff was so frightened that he hid in the basement. He only sneaked out of the basement quietly when the oil lamp was about to burn out and he was too hungry and thirsty.

"Luckily", he was the only one in the newspaper office when the disaster struck, so he didn't have to face other people's corpses or anything.

When Robbie Rudneff saw the tragic situation in the city outside the window, he was so frightened that he didn't dare to go out. He just found some food and water that were not spoiled, and half a bucket of ink in the office area on the second floor, and then hid again.

Go back to the basement.

The iron door to the basement has never been opened since.

Although the ink burned too fast, made him cough constantly, and kept him hungry, he would rather die hiding in the dark and damp basement than face the monsters outside.

Sometimes he also wonders when rescue will come, and then he quickly thinks, forget it, don't lie to yourself, who will save a city that has been destroyed?

Robbie Rudneff was getting weaker and weaker day by day, until there was a gentle knock on the iron door.

The mixed memories caused Anna to be confused for more than ten seconds, but it quickly faded away like a tide.

After all, this is not the first time that the ritual has been used, and Sara has only endured more than two hundred years of memories not long ago. An old man who is less than sixty years old cannot make her confused and lose herself.

Breaking away from memory, the first thing that emerges is the deepest desire of this body: the desire for food.

Then there is the smell, the pungent smell of ink mixed with moisture, and the smell of ink is even stronger.

The burning ink appears to be toxic - you can tell by the thick black smoke coming out.

Although this taste does not make people happy, Anna still accepted everything happily.

The experience of having a body is like that of a person underwater who emerges from the water and the whole world becomes clear. She understands why many ghosts want to possess humans.

This is just like cigarettes and alcohol, which can make men addicted.

Smelling the pungent smell of burning ink, Anna subconsciously thought to herself, what does Lu Li smell like?

Anna recalled her experience in the Upside Down City. Lu Li had no smell. In other words, compared to the smell, the emotions caused by his existence were stronger and deeper than the smell.

Just like a dream.

Anna, who possessed Robbie Rudneff, turned her head and looked at her illusory self standing aside.

Watching herself is a wonderful experience, especially when she can control two bodies at the same time.

Anna quickly looked away, and then discovered something wrong: none of her senses were as clear as in her memory.

The heart beats feebly, the blood vessels surge slowly, things that are slightly farther away become ghostly, and there is a bellows-like noise in the lungs when breathing.

It's like putting a veil over your eyes to enjoy the scenery.

Is it because this body is used to these smells? Or is he too weak and old?

Despite this, Anna still shivered with excitement when she touched the cold ground when she got up - maybe because he was an old man.

This long-lost feeling...

Anna even felt that the moment she touched Lu Li, she would faint from the wonderful feeling.

It's a pity she can't do this.

Anna walked to the hand-printing machine. Robbie Rudneff's memory made her know exactly how to use it, and a sentence suddenly popped into her mind.

"The machine should be running, not sitting in a warehouse rusting."

This is the thought that emerged in the old man's mind.

Anna silently chewed on the taste of these words, and returned to the ground to go to the warehouse to pick up a blank newspaper. As for the small half of the ink bucket, it was enough.

After coming back, Anna found an unused letterpress, used strength to carve the content and the outline of the map on it, poured ink into the machine, put the letterpress into the groove, then put in a blank newspaper and stamped it like a seal.

Leave a clear, wet handwriting pattern, and then repeat.

It only took a dozen seconds for Anna to skillfully take over everything. Not satisfied yet, she also engraved the content on the remaining letterpress plates and pressed them onto other blank newspapers with her invisible hands.

It was a little hectic at first, but once you got familiar with it, it became as smooth and easy as an assembly line.

It's just that the flyers that don't use the machine look muddy, but she's not selling them for money anyway, so Weird doesn't care about them.

Having a body makes it inevitable for Anna to also have human weaknesses, which can also be said to be strengths - the brain is constantly thinking about things.

While printing, she subconsciously thought that if everything hadn't happened yet, it might be a good idea to open a newspaper together with Lu Li... He was responsible for thinking, and I was responsible for printing.

At this time, the left chest of her clone suddenly became difficult to breathe.

Anna was stunned for a moment, and several floating letterpress plates stopped working because of this.

Realizing something, Anna raised her skinny palm and touched her chest.

Dull and silent...the heart of this body stopped beating.

The old man is dead.

This scene was beyond Anna's expectation.

She didn't want to kill him, that was unnecessary and might make Lu Li notice something. She even wanted to print it and go find some cans around as a reward for temporarily occupying his body.

But the old man's physical condition is worse than imagined, and fright and possession have become weights weighing on his fragile life.

Although even without Anna, it would be difficult for him to survive two or three days.

But he eventually died because of Anna.

A weak humanity overflowed from the body and merged into Anna's illusory body standing aside, bringing strength and a trace of... It is difficult to understand, but it makes the soul excited.
