228. Jamie's Story

In the thick night, the thick fog that could not be dispelled surged outside the house, and even the fire was dim.

After waiting for more than ten seconds, there was no second knock on the door.

There was no sound of breathing or obscure breath outside the door.

"You stay here to protect Lu Li, I'll go take a look." Remi walked through the wooden door, fearing that the knock on the door was a decoy.

Lu Li and Anna waited. After a while, the wooden door was pushed open from the outside. Remi held a ball of rough hemp rope in his illusory palm: "There is a ball of rope on the ground at the door... Is it the rope that you are talking about?"

The sea breeze blew into the wooden house, and the fire became weaker. The black cat lying next to the fire rushed to Lu Li's legs.

Remi closed the wooden door, and Anna came to her side and took the hemp rope. It was just a piece of ordinary hemp rope that was badly worn, rough and curled, and had no breath on it.

But ordinary hemp rope will not suddenly appear at the door in the strange fog.

At the same time, old Miklos' intermittently weak whispers suddenly sounded in the hut: "Please... help me..."

Anna, who was holding the hemp rope, seemed to hear more and said to Lu Li: "It hopes you can help her free herself."

Remi's eyes were filled with surprise, not quite feeling that this visiting evil spirit wanted to express this.

"Is there still a chance to save him?" Musu looked at the hemp rope calmly, as if he didn't notice anything: "Old Miklos can become a new resident of the Elm Forest."

Because of these words, Remi put aside her unreasonable suspicion of Anna. Maybe she was overthinking. How could Anna, who regarded Lu Li more than anything else, not know that the evil spirit could protect Lu Li better, and the humanity gained by killing it would only make Lu Li a different person?

More sweet and delicious.

"It won't last until dawn if we do nothing." Anna answered, shaking her head.

Old Miklos was too weak to make a sound, and the knocking on the door and the incomplete plea seemed to be the last strength.

Without any hesitation, Lu Li picked up his holster and poured the salvation onto the old Miklos' body on the floor.

laugh--

Colorless smoke, like water vapor, poured out from the hemp rope. The next moment, Lu Li's consciousness was brought back to the death of old Miklos.

The dim yellow light like the autumn sun shines through the mottled windows and into the theater.

The empty seats stretched out, and dust floated in the air.

Lu Li stood in the aisle, the sunset shining into the theater falling on his shoes, making him look more lively.

Click——

The empty theater echoed with the sound of the machine, and a hemp rope fell from the stage that was not visible from the audience.

The echoes dissipated, and in the silent theater one could even hear the sizzling sound of the hemp rope shaking.

But soon, slow footsteps broke the silence, and an aging figure walked onto the stage from behind the scenes.

Old Miklos looked older than his age, perhaps because his back was too curved. He walked tremblingly towards the hanging hemp rope, but his steps were unwavering.

Lu Li leaned forward slightly.

But at this moment, old Miklos seemed to have discovered something. He slowly and awkwardly lay down on the floor, breathed into his sleeves, and carefully wiped a stain on the stage.

This action made Lu Li stop his movement to stop him.

Old Miklos stood up and almost fell down again. He was too old, so he rested for more than ten seconds before walking to the hemp rope again, and tied it into a noose and rested several times.

The finally tied hemp rope was half a head taller than him, but old Miklos suddenly straightened his back, put his head into the noose, and pushed his legs hard like a naughty child.

In the deserted theater and the empty stage, the struggling old Miklos quickly lost his life and swayed slightly like a swing hanging in a hemp rope.

"I really want to go back and take another look..."

A faint sigh sounded in my ears.

The firelight came into view, and Lu Li escaped from the memory of death.

Anna took the holster from Lu Li's hand and picked up Salvation, which had disappeared from the hemp rope and fell on the floor: "How much humanity have you gained?"

She could clearly feel the changes that occurred in Lu Li as the rope of divine subjugation disappeared.

This change was not superficial, at least there was no change in Lu Li's appearance. It was more like a smell.

"Hot and delicious food" Anna thought subconsciously, and then felt uneasy about this thought.

Because at first she was against Lu Li's humanity, but now it's the complete opposite...

"Less than Sarah Adam..." Lu Li answered after feeling it carefully.

After the increase in Doomsday Apocalypse, Sarah Adam brought close to 9 copies of humanity. Old Miklos had less than 7 copies. Now Lu Li has close to 20 copies of humanity.

"It's harder to hide Lu Li's aura." Remi said that she and her brother existed in the book and would not be affected by instinct. "Fortunately, we can build a safe house tomorrow."

This is destined to be a tortuous road. If you don't improve your humanity, the dangerous environment will swallow up your reason. If you improve your humanity, you will endanger the young deer who stray into the dark forest.

Fortunately, the Elm Forest, Anna, the others, and the deep-sea stones built a barrier to protect Lu Li and protect him from the strange invasion.

The flames calmed down again, and the black cat quickly went to the fire again to keep warm. Lu Li also opened "The Sound of Misery" again.

The title of the book already reveals that this will not be a work with a happy ending.

This has now been slowly revealed.

Jamie lost his emotions after drinking the immortality potion for the fourth time.

Nothing makes him happy, sad, distressed, or excited.

This is within Jamie's acceptance range - emotions do more good than harm to alchemists. Compared with a flash of inspiration when excited, it is more important not to cause alchemy failure due to emotions.

Of course, I think so not because Jamie doesn’t care about emotions, but because he has lost emotions, and naturally there will be no pain or sadness derived from this.

Losing emotion means that it is difficult for him to care about anything in this world anymore. Wealth? Status? Women?

All of that comes from emotion and will naturally be wiped out by Jamie.

Only inertia is left to push him to continue his alchemical experiments without waiting to grow old again.

Then the sense of touch disappears.

This is similar to pain, but more serious than pain because it means Jamie can't feel everything. The only things that can prove what he is doing are his eyes and ears.

After drinking the potion, it even took him several hours to come out of the basement. His nose was bruised and his face was swollen, which frightened the servants.

Jamie thought he could get used to losing touch, just like getting used to other lost things, but he couldn't do it at all. A few days later, he would still fall while walking because his body did not send back any feedback and he didn't know what to do.

Use how much force. Experience means nothing here.

That's not all. Perhaps out of spite, Flo Mitchell depicts Jamie becoming incontinent.

But even so, Jamie did not give up on transforming the immortality potion.

He succeeded. When he drank the potion in the wheelchair, his appearance miraculously returned to that of a 20-year-old man.

Jamie then developed an emotional potion, which could temporarily give him the lost emotions, but unfortunately the others could not come back...

In short, he gained eternal life.

No one can kill him, no one can take him away from the long river of time.
