237. Sailing

In the early morning, the strange fog quietly faded away.

Anna squatted by the fireplace and swept the ashes into the basket, added dry firewood, and then sprinkled a small portion of the ashes into the corner of the cave.

The relatively constant temperature of the cave has brought plants to life, and buds have grown in the gaps between rocks or in the soil. The closer to the safe house, the better the growth.

The two pots of flowers that were luckily placed on the desk were already blooming. One of them was an iris, and the other was a deep purple flower that neither Anna nor Remi could recognize.

Only Adangfuya said that she had some impressions, and she saw it in the illustrations of a book in her hometown when she was still alive.

The purple flower seems to be a native plant in the Main Familiar Continent. After all, the flowerpot was brought back from King Allen City.

The remaining ashes were spread on the cultivated land outside the cave. I think it will grow well next year, if there is another year.

"Good morning Anna." Remi greeted her.

"Morning." Anna smiled softly, exchanged a few words with Remi and then returned to the cave.

Jimmy got out of the cabin, rubbed his eyes and said, "Miss Anna seems to be getting more and more cheerful."

In the past few days, Anna smiled much more than before.

"Maybe." Remy said hesitantly.

Her position as a scholar made her vaguely aware of what Anna was suppressing deep in her emotions.

Remi, who brought a few pounds of firewood from the woodshed and was about to go to the safe house, turned back and told her brother: "There is only half of the wood left in the woodshed. Go to the woods and bring some back."

Ignoring her brother's complaints, Remi was about to enter the cave when footsteps sounded from the woods outside Wanghai Cliff.

Lu Li slowly woke up.

The open black eyes fell towards the alarm clock on the desk, and the confusion that had not dissipated when he woke up reflected on yesterday's newspaper on the corner of the table.

[The heroes go deep into the desolate land along the river! 】

The accompanying picture shows three ancient sailing warships sailing into the river.

If the journey goes smoothly, they should be close to the oasis where the Time of Silence is.

Anna's figure returned to the safe house at this time, put down the basket by the fireplace, and sighed, "It's getting colder and colder outside." Then she suddenly pressed her illusory white hands on the face of Lu Li who was sitting up.

Lu Li raised his calm black eyes and tilted his head slightly to look at Anna.

"My hands are cold." Anna blinked in response, as if expecting something.

After a slight silence, Lu Li, who had just sat up, lay down again and said in a calm and narrative tone: "...It's so cold."

Lu Li's cooperation was terrible, but Anna was still like a little girl who had succeeded in her prank, throwing herself on Lu Li and laughing non-stop.

After the commotion continued for a while, Remi came outside the safe house and whispered: "The businessman is here."

According to yesterday's transaction content, the businessman brought today's newspaper.

The results of this crusade will be given above.

After putting down the newspaper, the businessman left. Lu Li picked up the newspaper, which was stained with ink and morning dew, and unfolded the pages.

"What does it say?" Anna asked.

Lu Li glanced at the title, and then breathed out gently.

The pass could have allowed warships to pass through, but the chaotic water flow in front of the pass gradually caused the ship to tilt. If it were turned again, the Old Gentleman would lie across the pass and be overwhelmed by the warships behind it...

After a brief pause, the young first mate untied the hemp rope without hesitation, threw himself in front of the rudder, pressed the rudder with his body weight and turned it to starboard.

Manik Pa reluctantly opened his eyes. He heard the bell, but he could not speak to stop the first mate.

The pocket watch flashed under the oil lamp and flew out of the young first mate's arms.

click

As if touching a mechanism, the watch cover lifted up, revealing the time and the girl's photo, as well as the figure disappearing in front of the ship's rudder.

The young first mate did it. The Old Gentleman, which was moving sideways in the river, changed direction and barely stayed close to the pass, scraping a mark on the side of the ship.

After sailing another hundred meters along the river, the anchor dropped to the bottom of the river, and the Old Gentleman remained stationary on the calm river surface.

But the worst was yet to come. Unfortunately, Canglang's warship was caught in the same chaotic undercurrent, gradually tilted, and got stuck in front of a narrow pass.

On the Old Gentleman, the deck crew watched in horror as Cang Lang's warship lay across the entire river and was hit by the last warship.

squeak

In the heart-wrenching dull and loud noise, the keel of the warship broke and was almost broken at the waist.

"Oh no..."

One of the crew members tied to the mast could not help but murmur, and the rest of his words disappeared with him.

Two wooden boats were piled up at the pass, and a large number of broken wooden boards floated down the river. They lightly bumped into the Old Gentleman and spun away.

There are no survivors lying on it.

Under the horrific collision, the two warships stuck in the pass may have become dead ships...

The dead silence with only the water flowing and the thumping from the cargo hold below deck lasted for more than ten minutes, and the sailor holding the evil radio rang the copper bell.

The crew members numbly untied themselves and found the old captain Manik Pa appearing outside the captain's room. He took off his hat and observed a few seconds of silence.

"Children, I won't say sensational and disgusting words." Manik Pa's shout rang out above the deck. His arm holding the captain's hat pointed to the front of the river, where the outline of a forest appeared faintly.

"We have sacrificed too much. And now, the target is in front of us...weigh anchor!"

Blah blah blah blah

Turning the winch to stow away the heavy anchor, the Old Gentleman continued sailing alone.

They were getting closer and closer to the outline of the oasis on the far horizon, and the broken planks followed the river around them, as if surrounding the Old Gentleman.

When the oasis officially came into sight and came into range, the Old Gentleman lowered its anchor one mile away.

Manik Pa stopped the crew from lifting up the oilcloth and preparing to load the shells. Five minutes had passed since the last moment of silence, and it would come again soon.

When it's over, it's time for them to fight back.

Two minutes later, the brass bell on the deck rang as promised.

Although the Old Gentleman had anchored, the crew still secured themselves to the deck to avoid accidents.

The crew members were worried that something would happen during this time of silence, so they waited excruciatingly for more than ten minutes. However, no crew member disappeared until the time of silence left.

"Load the shells!"

shouted the second mate who took over from the first mate.

The dozen or so surviving crew members carried the shells and stuffed them into the barrel.

"calibration!"

Some old crew members who had participated in the war came forward to adjust the angle. Manik Pa also walked on the deck to help, and then took the torch from a sailor.

"I'll take this shot."

"Light the fire!" the second mate roared at the top of his lungs.

More than a dozen torches tilted simultaneously, lighting the fuses.

hiss

After a few seconds of hissing like a poisonous snake spitting out a message, a deafening loud noise echoed in the thick smoke.

Thick smoke surged, and more than a dozen shells emerged, whizzing sharply across the arc and falling towards an ordinary withered dwarf tree at the edge of the oasis village.

At this time, an obscure and invisible wind blew gently around the short trees, and the cannonballs streaking through the air were like footprints on the beach. The waves came in and quietly erased them.

The crew's cheers were roughly shoved back into their throats.

The invisible wind blows through the oasis and drifts farther away

Smoke continued to rise, and the empty warships docked quietly by the river.
