26. Leviathan

"Did they find you?"

Catalina discovers the name Lu Li is called by Leviathanists.

"Um."

And it seems that more than just "purity" has been discovered.

After all, being a pure human is not enough for the church to issue an invitation.

The happiest person about this is Catalina. There are hints from the church that there is obviously no dispute about Lu Li's pure human identity——

"It seems they are not very interested in you." Catalina said deliberately. She opened her pocket and took a look inside. It was filled with coins and small-denomination banknotes, which seemed to contain two or three hundred shillings.

Caterina tied the pocket contentedly, and the sound of the coins rubbing against each other was clear and sweet. No one would dislike it - but carrying it was not only a drag on itself, but also attracted attention.

Catalina came to the counter and threw up the pocket containing the money: "This is the reward given to me by the believers. I want to exchange them for a large amount."

Two minutes later, Catalina adjusted the leather armor on her chest and left the tavern, and walked with Lu Li to the motorcade at the end of the street.

The people from the convoy were waiting for them at the interface. He introduced himself as the "convoy breeder", and while leading Lu Li and Catalina towards the convoy, he said that Numa's consent was required before setting off with the convoy.

"The team breeders keep some weird people with "heavy body odor". Their personalities are generally gentle and controllable and will not hurt people...the breath can mask our smell, so that weird things in the wilderness will not attack the team..."

Catalina whispered to Lu Li, and then asked: "Who is Numa?"

"The good little ones who protect us in the wilderness." The keeper said, walking past the loading and unloading carriages and coming to the caravan covered by a tarpaulin.

"Don't scream or yell when you get in, you'll scare it."

Picking up the oil lamp on the side of the car, the breeder turned around to remind him, opened the tarp and got inside.

"It should be fine..." Catalina said, taking the lead in getting into the tarp.

Lu Li followed behind and almost bumped into Catalina who suddenly stopped.

The sound of taking a deep breath came from the front. Lu Li turned his head and saw a section of his body exposed under the light of the oil lamp.

It was a strange creature with a long and flat body, long beards, and a catfish-like appearance. Its smooth gray-black skin reflected the light under the oil lamp.

It is locked in an iron cage that is three meters wide and nearly seven meters long. This is why the caravan looks as huge as a longhouse from the outside.

The keeper slowed down, not out of fear, but more like he didn't want to scare it. He grabbed a handful of wet plants on a long pole outside the iron cage and put it into the iron cage.

"Numa" acted completely different from the weirdness that Catalina thought. It ate as docilely as a cow or sheep, and even carefully avoided the hands of the keeper.

And Lu Li was familiar with this - and so was Ampere.

The closer oil lamp allowed Lu Li to observe "Numa"'s forelimbs as big as an adult's arms on its side. But for its huge body, its limbs were as thin and deformed as a baby's.

The limbs are not enough to support it in crawling, unless it has a mysterious way of moving.

After feeding, the keeper's actions shocked Katrina. He lay down in front of the iron cage, almost put his head into the cage, and came close to the Numa catfish's mouth, listening to something.

Lu Li vaguely heard something, but he couldn't distinguish or understand it unless he was very close, such as putting his head on it like a breeder -

Tens of seconds later, the breeder got out of the iron cage and looked at Lu Li strangely: "Numa thinks you are delicious."

Catalina was subconsciously wary, and Lu Li also said, "I don't think 'delicious' means friendly."

"You should be happy, it means your pollution is very slight." The breeder said, then looked at Catalina: "Your companions are a bit 'ordinary'."

Ordinary also means ordinary, popular, neither high nor low.

So the news is either good or bad for Catalina.

The breeder thought for a while and said to Lu Li: "You stay closer to Numa, it can cover up your delicious smell."

"It's not greedy, right?" Catalina didn't want to hear the bad news that Lu Li was eaten.

"Numa is a good boy." The breeder complained that Catalina shouldn't have such thoughts.

At this moment, there was a sound of shouting and cursing coming from outside the caravan.

"Hurry up! The Earl of Ghost Town is in urgent need of this batch of goods. We have to deliver it before the sun sets - of course I know it's eternal night. Damn it, Tom, watch your second mouth!"

Numa, who is sensitive to sound, shook the catfish's head and made a popping exhaust sound.

The keepers had to comfort Numa.

"I've heard about this." Catalina whispered to Lu Li at this time: "The earl of Ghost Town is not a real earl. It is rumored that he was a knight from before the weird era. After his death, he accidentally became a ghost and has been living forever.

'Now, then I accept the invitation of the Ghost Church and move to Ghost Town..."

"Okay, let's go out."

The breeder who comforted Numa said, leading Lu Li and Catalina away from the oppressive caravan.

"Have you ever followed a convoy?" he asked.

"Uh...no."

Catalina has always been alone, and rarely leaves Leviathan Town, let alone the luxury of traveling with a convoy.

"Okay, remember these rules." The breeder looked around at the team of workers who were speeding up the transportation, and clearly and quickly stated the rules he had said countless times.

[You are trying to leave the safe zone]

[You are moving away from safety and comfort]

【And maybe you will never come back】

[If you are sure you want to travel far, there will be unknown waiting ahead of you]

[You will encounter a lot, and most of them are bad things]

[It will make you grow, and it will also make you crazy]

[Keep an eye on your sanity and don’t let it decrease]

【Remember——】

[The more you know, the sooner you will die]

Catalina fell into memories because of the principle, and it seemed that someone had said this to her a long time ago.

She quickly broke away from her memories, and she and Lu Li followed the breeder to a carriage behind the caravan, where they were arranged.

"Don't leave the carriage after leaving the town, only use fluorite, and never expose bright light to the wilderness." The breeder finally reminded. "Our leader has a cursed title, so don't worry about getting lost."

"Curse title?"

"It's called 'survival instinct'... you should already know that."

The breeder said meaningfully. As he finished speaking, an incomprehensible content, as if words and sounds appeared in the minds of Lu Li and Catalina.

【Survival instinct】

[Human beings live on a small island called ignorance. When they decide to set sail, they will go farther and farther on their respective routes. Perhaps going too far will make them forget where they came from. Fortunately, you still remember.

Your mind always remembers your original place. No matter where you are, you can remember its location and its direction - because only there is safe.】

[Your mind will point to the location and direction of the town you left.]

【——Hunters often die in the mouths of their prey. Fishermen will eventually perish in the abyss of the Dead Sea.】
