36. The old sewer

With nowhere to go, Lu Li and Catalina returned to the Cape of Good Hope Tavern.

Made it to the corner table with only one guest, waiting to go to the old sewer.

The guest opposite was eavesdropping on the conversation between the two hunters at the nearby wine table, and reached out to pick up the wine glass without paying attention.

"We're clean!"

A high-pitched shout suddenly sounded from the wine glass, and the guest retracted his hand in fright and stared at the two-headed puppet crawling out of the wine glass.

"Can we go now?" Another head turned towards Lu Li who was opposite.

They appear to be independent entities.

"Are you from the church?" Lu Li asked.

"Human? We are not human!"

"Church? We are not them!"

Two heads screamed at the same time.

"You came earlier than the church and the town?" Lu Li continued to ask.

"This is our home!" the left head replied.

"Shh...he is investigating us!" The right head reminded the left head, and the cloth wrinkled as if angry: "You are a bad guy!"

"Sister-in-law will teach you a lesson!" The left head also shouted.

They jumped down from the wine glass noisily, leaving a line of wet little footprints, ran to the edge of the wine table, and jumped down.

Katrin lowered her head to look under the table. As expected, the two-headed puppet disappeared.

The prank spirit disappeared, and the silent drinker stared at the turbid wine, angrily knocked away the wooden chair, stood up and stretched out his palm towards Lu Li: "You bastard, pay for my wine!"

Catalina suddenly touched the dagger, but before she swung it out, she saw Lu Li easily grabbing the wrist that was thicker than his arm. This scene was as incredible as a ramming carriage hitting a pedestrian, but the pedestrian didn't move at all.

"Fighting is prohibited in the tavern." Lu Li reminded the trembling drinker who was wrestling with him. With his other hand, he took out three coins from his pocket and pushed them to the middle of the wine table.

"Is that enough?"

"not enough."

The drinker glanced at the three shillings, remained silent for a moment, then retracted his arm and muttered: "But forget it."

Putting away the three coins, the drinker grabbed the wine glass and drank the drink mixed with the stench of mud.

Before leaving, he tilted his head and reminded harshly: "For the sake of compensation, you are being targeted by them. Get out of here before the 'eldest sister' comes."

The man leaves the tavern.

"You don't need to give him money, we are stronger." Catalina couldn't understand Lu Li's show of weakness.

"It's true that his wine was tainted because of me." Lu Li replied.

"But..." Catalina, who was about to argue, suddenly remembered Lu Li's identity, with surprise and awe: "I know... this is the noble character of an exorcist."

Lu Li was noncommittal.

In an environment where the jungle prevails, morality is worthless.

He was wondering what a "eldest sister" was.

The tavern owner might know, but Lu Li couldn't afford the price.

Fortunately, there are only a few minutes left before departure.

Not long after, the waiter came to the wine table and said while taking away the wine glasses: "The old sewer carriage is ready in the backyard."

Lu Li and Catalina walked out of the tavern and walked around to the back alley, where a carriage was already waiting.

They were the last two passengers - besides them, there was a woman sitting deep in the carriage, with pale skin and purple lips, holding an exquisite doll.

"Spell Hunter..."

Catalina warned in a low voice, her tone full of fear, and pulled Lu Li to sit on the edge of the carriage, away from the woman and her doll.

"What is it."

Catalina didn't respond. There was no room for whispering in the small carriage.

"whee……"

Ethereal snickering echoed vaguely in the carriage. Lu Li looked towards where the strange laughter came from. The doll sitting on the woman's lap was tilting its head and looking at it, motionless.

"Jack... I like you very much." Hissing sound like a poisonous snake sounded as the spell hunter spoke. Disgusting worms and cockroaches crawled between the black teeth.

Lu Li nodded gently and responded, "Hello."

Lu Li, who showed no disgust or fear, had a handsome appearance, and a sweet smell, made the spell hunter even more interested. Before she could do anything, the groom walked out of the backyard of the tavern and looked into the carriage: "1, 2, 3... very

The good news is here, do you want to wait any longer? Maybe the boss will bring someone in."

"No, we are in a hurry and the 'eldest sister' is looking for us." Catalina replied.

"Then you have to hurry up. If it catches you, you will be in trouble." The groom said with pity in his tone, and jumped on the carriage.

"Why?" Lu Li asked. "Will it attack me?"

"No, but it will scare the shit out of you and leave town with your pants wet."

The groom pulled up the reins, and the fungus horse pulled the carriage slowly out of the back alley.

Lu Li's appearance and aura of humanity can indeed bring many conveniences. For example, at this time, the groom is happy to talk to Lu Li.

Of course, so do the side effects.

For example, at this time, the Spell Hunter was very interested in Lu Li.

And talking more usually means more information.

"There are always rude guests who annoy them, uh...how do you annoy them, guest?"

Lu Li replied: "I asked about their origin out of curiosity."

"That's it. They are very wary and vindictive. Guests, you should be careful."

"Do you know their origins?"

"I don't know, and I don't want to know. Knowing too much is not a good thing." The groom said with taboo without looking back, "Knowledge is a curse."

In the old days, people were still afraid of strange knowledge, and now it will only be worse than then.

During the conversation, the spell hunter had been observing Lu Li with great interest.

The carriage drove along the street toward the low hill, passing through a difficult street full of puddles, and the carriage bumped up and down.

Maggots fell from the Spell Hunter's body and squirmed into the cracks in the car. The delicate doll used the bumps to get closer to Lu Li little by little.

"Help me, I'm going to melt!"

Lu Li shouted to the outside of the carriage. In the puddle that flashed past, a clay figure was struggling and calling for help.

"Stop."

Lu Li stopped the carriage, came to the puddle where the clay figure was flopping and struggling, and reached out to fish out the clay figure.

Most of its miserable body disappeared, leaving only its head and an arm connected to its neck.

"Oooh, I'm going to die!"

The little clay man was still crying, so Lu Li dug out some mud and took the crying clay man and the mud back to the carriage.

"Will they die?" Lu Li asked the groom.

"have no idea……"

The coachman followed his heartbeat, ignored what happened in the carriage, pulled up the reins and continued driving.

"Why did you..." Katerina asked in a low voice, confused.

"Try to ease the relationship." Lu Li replied, pushing the wet mud towards the clay figure: "Try to see if you can recover."

"My hand is gone!"

The little clay figure raised his bare arms with melted palms and cried to Lu Li.

Lu Li kneaded out a strip of wet mud and placed it on the clay figure's body. As if given life, the arms that were originally dead began to move.

The clay figure picked up the mud with its two arms and began to fill in the missing body.
