Sixty-five. Shock

The music stopped, and the nobles on the dance floor stopped dancing, looking puzzled at this group of uninvited guests and the information they brought.

"Fake? Mr. Jeannard Matthews, what are you talking about?" Tour Lange cast his eyes towards Lu Li covertly and frowned.

"The answer lies in the riddle." Yernard Matthews looked at Lu Li with regret: "It's actually quite pleasant to get along with you, except that you don't like to talk. I think you are covering up with silence because you are afraid of being exposed.

Own?"

There were whispers all around.

Lu Li's indifference was still fresh in their memory.

"I don't know who you are, and I don't know what your purpose is in posing as a disappeared exorcist. But now, the conspiracy has been revealed, and everything is over."

Yernard Matthews is ready to let the knights around him take him away.

"Are you really a human?" Lu Li suddenly said at this time.

He still looked calm, so calm that people found it strange.

"What are you talking about?" Yernard Matthews raised his eyebrows slightly.

"The handshake at the town hall party." The immersive black eyes stared at Yenard Matthews. "For some reason, my left hand can hurt weirdness."

After a slight silence, Yennad Matthews waved his hand: "Okay, don't use this little trick that will make us look down on you. Sophistry will not work here. Knights, take the lead."

Tour Lange suddenly spoke coldly: "Mr. Jenard Matthews, although you have a noble status, if you want to slander my guest and take him away directly, are you ignoring the Lange family too much?"

Doing so seems to require a step up. The appearance of the Knights of the Ring is enough to show that Jenard Matthews is most likely right.

But letting people from the city hall break into the Lange family party and take away their guests would greatly damage their prestige.

Tour Lange couldn't just let them take him away, even if he was right.

"No offense, but I think these knights around the city are enough to prove my identity. You know, the group of people on the giant tree have always been neutral." Yernard Matthews did not intend to give him a step, and his tone became indifferent.

, tilted his head and ordered: "Take him away."

"Clan leader..." the steward whispered to Tur Lange.

Tour Lange shook his head slightly and watched everything that happened gloomily.

Knights wearing dark gold armor approached Lu Li.

Until they walked in front of them, Lu Li did nothing.

Lu Li's enhanced physical fitness was not enough to fight against a dozen heavily armed knights, and they seemed to have other secrets.

The knights did not treat Lu Li roughly. They only put handcuffs engraved with runes on him and a tarpaulin engraved with runes on him, and took him away from the silent party hall.

"The city hall doesn't want this incident to cause too much trouble. I hope you can keep silent about the arrest of the counterfeiters and don't let it spread."

Yernard Matthews looked around and began to back away.

He did not forget to wave goodbye to Tour Lange.

"Excuse me for disturbing you, little Tour. Let's continue with your party."

The Knights of the Ring gradually exited the party hall, and the atmosphere suppressed by them gradually eased, but only to a limited extent.

Tour Lange looked at the disappearing figure outside the door, his face almost dripping with gloom.

With his freedom and senses shackled, Lu Li felt like he was being carried into a carriage.

He had no chance of seeing Jenard Matthews; he might have taken another carriage.

When being taken to an unknown destination, Lu Li thought quietly in the darkness.

Conspiracy? Misunderstanding?

The conclusion that is currently on the table is that Yernard Matthews reacted to the touch of Lu Li's left hand. Perhaps his consciousness was contaminated by weirdness and his state tended to be alien. He realized that Lu Li's existence would destroy their plan.

, so he slandered Lu Li as a fake.

Obviously, with his identity and connections, he has more power than Lu Li.

But the Knights of the Ring only serve for the real Cranes University above the giant tree, and they are not in the same camp as City Hall.

Disagreement within the giant tree?

Or did the giant tree reach an agreement with the city hall.

And why they took themselves away from the party.

Lu Li recalled what happened at Crans University last night.

"You have met Yenard Matthews. Is he the same as the rumors?" Pusius raised his head and jumped up and down beside Lu Li's legs excitedly.

"What rumors?" Lu Li took off his coat and hung it on the hanger.

"Well...brave, cheerful, friendly, approachable..."

"Mostly."

What's left out of the description of Yernard Matthews is the chatterbox.

Not long after, Dean Lawrence arrived and told Lu Li about the invitation sent by the Lange family.

"Reject it for me."

Lu Li didn't want to waste any more time attending meaningless gatherings.

He just wants to find the whereabouts of Anna and the merchant.

But Dean Lawrence told him the current political environment in Midnight City: the city hall and the nobles headed by the Lange family were in opposition, and the church and the giant tree were neutral.

"You attended the party at the city hall. If you refuse the Lange family's party, they will mistakenly think that you are a member of the city hall faction, which will cause some trouble. If you participate, it means that you are still neutral and will get some benefits."

"What good."

"One more friend and one less enemy." Dean Lawrence said. After discovering that Lu Li didn't care about this, he added: "The Lange family's intelligence is equally sharp. If you make friends with them, you will definitely be able to find them faster.

The answers you're looking for."

The carriage stopped.

Lu Li was taken off the carriage.

He was lifted up by two knights, with his feet dangling in the air. He could no longer rely on his body to tell the direction, and there was only the dull sound of footsteps in his ears.

Lu Li kept thinking.

Dean Lawrence has no problem, he is more afraid than others that Lu Li is fake.

Used by City Hall as a weapon against the Lange family?

Would they do it to eliminate dissidents at the cost of an exorcist?

A drama played by the Lange family to throw dirty water on the city hall? As nobles, it seems not surprising that they did this, but the church and the giant tree cannot condone them.

After searching around for a while, it still seems that only Yernard Matthews has the closest answer to the question.

But it also represents a huge mystery.

How could Yennad Matthews, whose identity was questionable, persuade the city hall and Jushu to confirm that Lu Li was a fake and directly order his arrest?

Lu Li's feet suddenly touched the ground.

He was let down.

Breaking away from his thoughts, there was a heavy sound of stones rubbing in front of him, and then he was taken into the space behind the stones.

The sound of the stone door closing was heard behind me.

As it closes completely, all sounds disappear.

Silence surrounded Lu Li, as if he was the only one around.

After waiting for a few minutes, Lu Li took off the tarpaulin covering himself.

What comes into view is a study room with no windows and surrounded by stone walls.

He was imprisoned in this secret room, which was either above ground or underground, inside or outside the city.
