9. Brian, or Hall

Conversations came from the kitchen adjacent to the living room. A woman quietly poked her head out, glanced at Lu Li and retreated behind the door.

Brian walked out after a while, the apron around his waist was gone, and he said apologetically: "I'm sorry, I just asked my wife to help take care of it."

"It's okay." Lu Li replied briefly.

"What can I do for this officer?"

"About your previous disappearance." Lu Li walked into the living room and sat at the dining table without noticing anything. "Do you still remember some details?"

Anna followed Lu Li's instructions, left Lu Li's side, and drifted into the kitchen.

Brian took some water in a wooden bowl, handed it to the dining table in front of Lu Li and said, "This...I told you everything I remembered when you came here last time. I really can't remember anything else."

Glancing at the shaking water glass with his black eyes, Lu Li continued to ask, "Then have you paid attention to other details, such as the date and time of n day."

Anna floated back from the kitchen and went into the bedroom again.

Brian picked up the empty wooden bowl again, poured himself a glass of water, drank it in one gulp, and said with a smile: "No, but my memory is absolutely fine. Thank you for your concern. I'm really fine."

Lu Li asked a few more questions without leaving any trace. After Anna came out and whispered in her ear and found nothing, he stood up and prepared to leave.

Brian walked him to the door. The moment he stepped out of the door, Lu Li suddenly turned around and said a name.

"O'Connor."

Brian was obviously taken aback, with confusion on his face: "What did you say?"

"nothing."

Lu Li's expression showed nothing but calmness, and he turned around and walked out of the house.

There was a slam of a door closing behind me.

Sitting in the carriage on the long street outside the gate, Anna couldn't hold back her curiosity, appeared and asked: "Isn't this guy O'Connor?"

The carriage was empty. Qiaoqiao, who had brought Anna over, was caught by Lu Li in another carriage and sent back to Belfast.

"Yeah." Lu Li drove the carriage and slowly left Brian's residence.

Anna was a little discouraged and snuggled into the carriage listlessly: "We still found the wrong one..."

"There is no mistake." Lu Li said without turning around.

"What? Didn't you say he wasn't..."

The carriage stopped again, keeping a few dozen meters away from Brian's residence.

From here you can see the entrance to the house.

"He's Hall."

Anna was stunned: "Eh...?"

"Remember when you went to the kitchen and bedroom?" The rain became a bit heavy, and Lu Li got into the car to ensure that he would not be noticed by nearby residents. "He kept changing directions to avoid exposing his back to you. No matter what

Wherever you go, he always keeps his side or front facing you."

Anna finally understood and asked tentatively: "You mean he..."

"Well, he can see you."

"Isn't this reason a bit far-fetched?" Anna felt that this could not be used as evidence.

"If I had said it differently, you wouldn't think so." Lu Li turned his head and looked at the hazy street with few pedestrians, and said indifferently: "You are the murderer. One day, the police came to ask you something. One of the police officers

Go search the house. In order to avoid being suddenly subdued, you use some small actions to avoid turning your back to the police officer inconspicuously. For example, you can get a glass of water for the police officer, and then get a glass for yourself and drink it... You will give

Did you take another sip after the guest poured the water?"

"There is indeed a problem with that..." Anna realized the problem belatedly. "Then what you meant by calling him in the end..."

Although Anna's reaction became slower because she had been dead for a while, she was not stupid. She understood something: "Are you trying to confirm whether he is O'Connor or Hall?!"

"Yeah." Lu Li nodded lightly.

The moment he called out his name, he was paying attention to Brian's eyes. Those eyes subconsciously shrank after asking, and then gradually relaxed as if he was relieved.

"Is this the world of adults..."

Anna muttered to herself, feeling guilty for her low IQ.

However, she was similar to Oliver. Her emotions came and went quickly. After a while, she curiously asked: "Then why didn't we do something when we were inside?"

"The victim's wife is inside. She is already miserable and there is no reason for us to make her miserable."

"So now we..."

"Wait for him to come out. My appearance will make him find Richard." Lu Li leaned into the car and closed his eyes to rest. "Please help me pay attention."

Anna nodded with some understanding and some confusion.

One person and one ghost began a long wait.

The rain is still pouring, neither increasing nor decreasing.

Time passed, and at three o'clock in the afternoon, there was finally some movement in front of Brian's house.

"He's out!"

Anna exclaimed in surprise while observing the target while admiring the street scene.

Lu Li, who was dozing, opened his dark eyes, sat up and looked out the window.

The sky was dim and rainy, and a figure walked out of Brian's house.

The figure was wrapped in a woolen coat, with a gray top hat covering half of his face. He turned and walked towards the street opposite the carriage.

Lu Li identified the figure from his body shape as Brian.

Lu Li got out of the carriage, drove the carriage, turned around and followed Brian.

The light rain gave Lu Li some advantages. The sound of falling rain covered up the sound of a carriage driving dozens of steps away.

But Brian still seemed to have noticed something. He tilted his head slightly, then pressed down the brim of his hat, and quickly walked into a dark and narrow alley on the side of the street.

The carriage stopped in front of the alley, its wide body covering the exit of the alley.

This is a dead end. At the end of the alley is a wall, and Brian is blocked in a box.

Lu Li opened his umbrella, stepped out of the carriage, stood at the entrance of the alley, and looked at Brian who turned around slowly.

The smile on Brian's, or rather Hall's, face gradually dissipated. He took off all disguises, and his originally honest and honest face became a bit sinister.

He curved his lips and said lightly: "No matter who you are, why there is a ghost following you, and what you know from Richard... I am a living person now. Whether you admit it or not,

I am Brian, and I have all his memories. What do you want to do to a civilian?"

People who can't wait to reveal all their hidden secrets as soon as they meet are generally not very smart.

Of course, it may also be because of fear.

Hall spread his arms and slowly walked towards Lu Li: "There is no need for us to conflict. I mean, look, I just want to be a normal person, and I am just a normal person. You can let me go."

Lu Li put his palms on the back of his waist. Hall, who noticed his movements, stopped and continued to maintain that uncomfortable cold smile.

"You're not a police officer, right? Let me guess...Richard was forced to escape from the cabin a few days ago, and Ulysses failed to get a new body. Is it you who did it?"

It seems he is the latter.
