Thirty-five. The knocking door

Pain is the heaviest teacher.

The gatekeeper who announced the end left, and the devastated Kiruait got up and headed to the dungeon.

She wanted to know what happened to Margaret.

Lu Li followed the remaining Holy Light team down to the dark layer above the swamp below the lower academy, and crawled into the criss-crossing caves like ant nests. He arrived at the entrance to the dungeon he found while almost lost.

The rocks covering the narrow gap appeared to have moved away, and Margaret's discarded empty medicine bottle was stuck in the gap.

Naxi picked up the medicine bottle and smelled it. From the almost volatile residual smell, he could smell the source: the silent forest.

Margaret entered the dungeon after taking the potion.

Wow

The gravel was scattered, and Kiruait approached the narrow rock gap that needed to be passed sideways, like a gaze peering into the house from the outside.

This underground city is relatively special.

It is like a fallen leaf, which has lost its connection with the big tree and its branches, and is independent of the closed cave.

A puddle without a source will eventually dry up. After the lucky Holy Light team found it, they investigated it.

Monsters live in this underground city cave and build human-like villages. They are strangely peaceful and numb, but when intruders appear, they will tear them apart violently.

The only one who could survive was the mindless, clay-like alchemical golem, whose existence was ignored by the strange villagers.

Therefore, the Holy Light Team did not choose to sell the information about this dungeon, but instead used tricks to pass through this dungeon... and paid a heavy price for it.

Through the narrow gap, Lu Li saw the dark, twisted, irregular, and disgusting ugly village on the other side.

The houses are as curved and sharp as a wizard's hut, and the abominable flesh plants sway and squirm in the irregularly cultivated farmland.

Strange villagers pass by in the cave village.

Lu Li saw Margaret.

Soon Kiruait, Yeager, and Naxi also saw her.

"She's not dead yet..." Kiruait clenched the rock tightly, and his fingernails were bloody and bloody.

Margaret was as numb as a wax figure, wearing the civilian clothes she had worn when she went out yesterday, wandering stiffly and numbly among the houses and farmland with the strange villagers around her.

She became indistinguishable from them.

"We have to bring her out..." Kiruit whispered.

"She is dead... now she is just an empty body manipulated by weirdness." Yeager looked away sadly, preparing to stop Kiruait who might rush into the dungeon.

But people in the Dark Ages were more likely to accept the truth no matter how cruel it was.

The sad Kiruait suppressed his impulse and piled the rocks scattered around his feet into the gap.

The gaps are refilled, and the colors blend into the rock wall. The rubble blocks stand like simple tombstones.

Naxi sprinkled potion to cover up the traces of their arrival and returned to the lift platform.

Maybe when the Holy Light Team is strong enough, they will come again, destroy the dungeon, and retrieve the remains of their former companions.

The news of Margaret's death made the lounge quiet.

The team members no longer put on the pretense they maintained because of Lu Li's joining, revealing their true emotions beneath the surface.

Margaret's name disappeared from Big Tree Academy and the Holy Light Team. The only symbols of her existence are the memory of Big Tree Academy and her bed and those relics kept in the lounge.

"Her family died in the wilderness, and she was selected by the Giant Tree Academy because of her alchemy talent when she was an apprentice. Margaret's dream was to live, and later she told me that she hoped to create a potion that is in the top 100 in the sequence..."

In front of the burning fireplace, Kiruait bowed his head and whispered Margaret's story in the shadows.

Gradually, the sound becomes fainter until it disappears.

"She fell asleep."

Jaeger said softly: "I'm going to the restaurant to have something to eat, will you go?"

"Let's come together, where are you, Lu Li?"

They looked at Lu Li in front of the fireplace.

"Um."

Lu Li left his seat and when he passed by Kiruait, he heard sad whispers in his sleep.

"Margaret..."

Kiruit's body gradually curled up.

Lu Li draped the blanket on the armrest around Kiruait and followed Yeager and Naxi out of the lounge.

"She and Margaret founded the Holy Light Team together... They are best friends."

On the corridor heading to the restaurant, Jaeger said with a complicated expression.

He and Naxi joined the Holy Light Team together. At least Kiruait and Margaret knew each other at that time.

"Captain still needs time to recover. It just so happens that these days, Lu Li, you can get familiar with this place."

Entering the dark and quiet restaurant, at this time, there were only a few dozen students scattered throughout the restaurant picking food and eating.

A silhouette blocked their only path, and Lu Li held his luggage: "Mr. Lu Li, we heard about your promotion and hope to invite you to join our team."

The eyes in the restaurant gradually gathered, and whispers about Lu Li arose.

"I already have a team." Lu Li said.

The cold man in a robe as soft as a gauze fell towards Yeager and Naf: "An 'unnamed' team?"

"Holy Light Team." Jaeger said coldly.

"Who cares? You can't even see it on the leaderboard. It could disband or disappear at any time."

Yeager's face suddenly turned gloomy: "If you haven't learned etiquette, I can teach you."

The person who stood in the way had no intention of getting entangled with Yeager, and returned to Lu Li with a cold and cold smile like a poisonous snake: "Please think again, Mr. Lu Li. We will make you great again in Giant Tree Academy."

He didn't stay long, and after finishing speaking, he quietly left like a snake.

"He does have the right to say such a thing. The vice-captain of the third team in the rankings. Did you smell the strange smell mixed with him? Those are the mantises he raised." Naxi said with a complicated expression.

Feeling the stares from the students in the cafeteria, he rolled his neck uncomfortably.

The episode made them no longer want to stay in the restaurant and enjoy the food. They took the food for several people, including Kiruait's share, and returned to the lounge.

As they approached the door, they saw a letter stuffed under the door, addressed to Your Excellency Lu Li.

[We are waiting for your arrival. Tomorrow night at 12 o'clock, the blood team lounge. 】

【Friends from the library】

After scanning the information on the letter, Lu Li looked around at both ends of the deserted corridor and returned to the lounge.

Kiruait had already woken up and was leaning listlessly on the sofa in front of the fireplace filled with firewood. Lu Li came in and allowed her to gradually regain focus.

"I have something to announce." She said, looking at Lu Li: "I have decided to hand over the position of vice-captain of the Holy Light Team to you."

Jaeger and Nav in front of the round table paused briefly, looked at each other, and continued to place the food.

"I've only been promoted to middle grade for two days."

"Time is not the only criterion for judging ability." Kiruait, who was much weaker due to sadness, said seriously: "And we need your help..."

Lu Li nodded lightly and accepted the status of vice-captain.
