Intermission: Renewed Promise

As usual, I spent another ordinary day,

From the girl who visited the cabin at night, I learned that the teleportation to midnight had been prepared. This was the perfect time in every sense of the word.

Fangran felt that it was Shui Linlang's excuse for predicting the follow-up development when he said it would take a few days.

Thinking about the last thing to do before departure,

Fangran teleported to the mechanical micro city where 'You Ye' was located as usual.

"Ling?"

When he unexpectedly made a sound, he found that golden fairy-like figure floating in the air in front of him as if he had known he was coming.

"It's so late, why are you here without sleeping?"

With her back to Fang Ran, Ling seemed to be adjusting something, her tone was soft and indifferent, and her emotions could not be heard.

"Ah, that's right, Grandma Shui told me today that the teleportation to Midnight is ready,"

Fangran looked at Ling's figure, scratched his head and thought about the reason.

"So before setting off, I'm here to report to Ling..."

"Are you ready to leave tonight?"

"Ah, it seems that I am not prepared at all. It is better to say that I have been prepared for a long time..."

Thinking back to the night a few days ago when the crutch turned into a broken silver dragon's tooth, Fangran thought about himself who didn't know at that time that Ling would wake up in the next few days.

After hearing his answer, Ling's fingers didn't stop on the virtual buttons.

However, the words stopped for a second before starting again.

"Yeah, I know."

Looking at Ling's back, he was slightly surprised. He thought he would be warned sternly about various precautions, and told how many mysterious and unpredictable characters there were in Midnight and not to be messed with.

None of these appeared, but Fangran felt a little missing.

A little disappointed that she couldn't admire the queen's beauty before departure, Fangran looked at Ling who was still pressing the buttons quickly with her fingers.

He turned around and said hello without further interruption, intending to start the space teleportation and leave...

"Then Ling, I will leave..."

But failed.

In the mechanical micro-city where the Youye Mecha stands, a girl with light blond hair stood behind the young man and raised her hand to grab his clothes.

Fangran unexpectedly turned his head slightly and saw Ling's figure behind him with his head slightly lowered.

She didn't float off the ground like usual. The height difference meant that he couldn't see those light golden eyes, but he could see her silent uneasiness as she bit her lip.

The fingers holding on to his clothes were strong.

"Ah...what's wrong, Queen?"

After a while of silence, Fangran asked tentatively, but halfway through he started asking and answering himself, scratching his head with a narcissistic smirk on his face:

"Hey! Are you reluctant to leave me? Haha, don't worry. I'm just going to midnight as a related party. I'm not going to any dangerous place. I'll be back soon..."

"Don't go..."

Then after hearing Ling's slight words, the pretense suddenly stopped.

It’s still the clear and clear voice of a queen, but the reluctance, struggle, and embarrassment are combined with the little girl’s willfulness, coquettishness, and pleading, and she pretends to cover it all up as usual.

This constitutes Ling's extremely low-volume words at this moment,

It even made Fangran suspect for a moment that he heard wrongly, and Lengran said:

"ah...."

Hearing that he was really stunned by his tone, his light blond hair lowered his head to cover his eyes.

I typed gibberish meaninglessly, but in the end I couldn't pretend to ignore it.

Put down the airs that you usually put on when getting along, put down the aura and dignity of being an A-level high-ranking night angel, put down the shame of saying such a thing to a young man who is several generations younger than yourself,

Take action when struggling, not as the little girl in the past,

Ling returned to her normal speaking volume and repeated what she had just said.

"Don't go."

This time, the complexity in the words was clearly heard. It was the first time in my memory that I heard Ling speak to me like this,

And without giving any reason, it was such a simple request.

Fang Ran was about to say something, but was interrupted by Ling's silent words.

"Just stay here, your family, friends, companions, girls you like..."

Ling grabbed Fangran and counted all the things in his daily life, her words of retention getting lower and lower as she spoke.

"Everything you wanted in the past is now with you, and you have been living the life you have today. Don't go to midnight, why not just stay here?"

"No...Ling, what are you talking about? I just went out for a while and will be back soon..."

"Don't act stupid, you know what I'm talking about..."

Even the usual scolding was gone. Fangran looked at Her Majesty the Queen who was just grabbing him. Her aura was as delicate as ever. She opened her mouth and didn't know what to say for a moment.

In the end, he just thought about it for a moment, lowered his eyes and spoke softly:

"Indeed, the daily life that I wanted to protect in the past is now all around me. I have a happy, lively and interesting life every day,"

"If it were me two months ago, I would definitely be extremely satisfied."

There was some nostalgia in his tone, but after saying this,

"But when I was in Europe, I slowly discovered it along the way."

Fangran raised a bright chuckle and said with a clear smile in his voice:

"No matter how I try to cover it up, how I try to escape, how I try to persuade myself with the excuse of 'stop being a fool', I can't deny it in the end."

"I still have things in my heart that I long to do, and I still have things that make me excited just thinking about them,"

Recalling the experience in Europe for a moment, the extraordinary events of activating abilities to escape, fighting, and executing plans in the night, and finally what was found at the end...

Fangran held Ling's hand and loosened her clothes, slowly knelt down and raised her head with a smile.

"I want to fulfill my wish in this only once life."

Only then did he see clearly Ling's face. Sure enough, there was some embarrassment and worry mixed with it. He blinked and asked:

"We are all participants, Ling, you must understand that feeling, right?"

I understand, of course I understand!

action,

Even if she knew at this moment how 'willful' and unreasonable her request was, she would put down her airs, be ashamed, etc. and speak out.

It is also out of fear that the young man in front of me will disappear one day if he continues like this.

The desire to keep him.

"Speaking of which, after I escaped from that border town a hundred years ago, when I was ready to ignore the life and death of the people there,"

"Ling, you saw through it all at once."

In the futuristic sci-fi mechanical micro-city, a young man squatted half-kneeling in front of a girl who didn't look like a girl. He smiled sheepishly and talked about that time,

She urged herself to do what she wanted to do without going against her inner experience.

"I don't know! And I didn't know anything when I was a kid. I'm not that kind now!"

Times have changed, and this time, the girl wants him to stay.

"I am an A-level wanderer! I am selfish, arrogant, and unreasonable. My own interests come first. The life and death of others is none of my business. I don't care what your wishes are..."

As if she was making an excuse to forcefully keep him, Ling moved her eyes away from him and spoke in a tough tone, with a cold and indifferent look on her delicate face.

Then when Fangran sighed helplessly and stretched out his hands to hug her, his expression turned into a panic like a deer.

She put her hands around her back and waist, and the gap between her bodies disappeared. A blush appeared on the fair skin on Ling's face, and she resisted symbolically.

"Don't speak ill of my important people."

When he heard what Fang Ran said, he couldn't help but feel his face heat up.

Being hugged like this, she could no longer say unreasonable words. Ling told herself not to be deceived by such children's sweet words and thought bitterly at the same time,

This idiot who is usually a coward is only so smart at times like this...

"However, in order to prevent you from worrying, Ling, and to prove that I don't care about my daily life,"

"Let's make a new agreement."

Holding his queen in his arms, Fangran made the same promise as he did a hundred years ago.

"No matter what happens in the future, I will definitely come back."

After hearing him say such words, Ling finally turned away her eyes and spoke in a low voice reluctantly.

"No one cares about you..."

Fangran smiled silently, then felt the slenderness and softness in his arms, rubbed his cheek against Ling's light golden fluffy hair and smiled deliberately:

"Having said that, it turns out that your Queen will be very comfortable to hold when you grow up."

The girl he was holding just hummed and didn't knock him away...
